Chapter 106 - Protect Tony!

As ordinary people drifted off to sleep, shadows of those who once thrived in darkness began to emerge. This night would surely be restless.

After putting his wife and children to bed, Tony descended the stairs. He deliberated over the phone book for a moment before dialing non-stop, his determination clear: he would relinquish the interests of Montclair City.

"You've disappeared," he spoke into the phone, frustration evident. "This place belongs to the Soprano family. If I let you go, it's justified. But if you don't leave, this territory may end up in the hands of no one—certainly not yours, understand?"

"All right," came the curt reply.

Tony hung up and continued his relentless calls. "I don't want anything. I want Acomo dead. I want his entire family gone!"

"Okay, I promise you," said the voice on the other end, a hint of relief in their tone.

"Very wise choice. It's for your own good," Tony continued. "After this incident, Acomo won't hold his position for long. Someone will need to step up—why not you?"

With Acomo's downfall, the spoils would naturally follow. "I'm not asking for much, and you'll pay even less," he added. "If he can harm me today, he'll dare to come for you tomorrow. He has liver cancer and won't last much longer. People become the most dangerous when they're facing death."

Tony pressed on, capitalizing on the fear of loss. The Soprano family was the second largest in Dimio, and while they might be caught off guard now, their influence remained undeniable.

...

Meanwhile, as Tony worked to solidify alliances, two cars sped down the road toward Passaic.

"Saul, the Dimio family is here. Remember the license plate number. Stop them and convey the boss's message," Sola, the leader of the largest local gang, instructed over the phone at a bar in Passaic.

"Got it," Saul replied.

"Just remember, try to avoid conflict. The Jonas family doesn't want to get involved in their affairs."

Saul gathered a dozen men and drove towards the roadblock. On the highway, the two cars positioned themselves across the road, lights blazing.

As the vehicles from Trent approached, the occupants drew their weapons, preparing for confrontation.

"Hey man, don't be nervous. I just want to talk," a voice called out, though no figure was visible. "Don't shoot, I'm alone. Look, I'm unarmed," he said, raising his hands.

Two dark figures emerged from the car, one wearing a light blue denim jacket, illuminated by the taillights.

"Hey, I'm here. Can someone come talk to me? I know you're from Dimio," he shouted.

The occupants of the two cars relaxed slightly, exchanging glances. One stepped out.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"I'm just a messenger. My boss wants to speak with you." The black man gestured toward a hefty bald figure emerging from the other vehicle, spotlighted by the headlights.

After delivering his message, the black man stepped back as Sola approached. "I know you're from Dimio and why you're here, but this is the Jonas family's territory."

The Dimio members remained silent, dismissing the rising power of the Jonas family.

"The boss says we don't interfere in Dimio's internal matters, so don't come causing trouble here," Sola continued, his tone firm.

"You're looking to join the Soprano family," the visitor retorted coldly.

"Listen, we have someone from Tony's side who's been informed. Let him leave, or this will get messy!" Sola shot back, annoyance creeping into his voice.

"Dare to let him go?" the man said, pulling his gun and aiming it directly at Sola's head.

"Go ahead and shoot!" Sola replied defiantly, leaning into the muzzle of the gun. "You think you can take me down that easily?"

With a bold gesture, Sola tapped the man's chest, unafraid. "If you do anything, you won't leave Passaic tonight."

At that moment, Sola's men emerged from the shadows, guns drawn, surrounding the two vehicles. The reputation of the Jonas family loomed large; they operated under strict rules, and anyone who crossed them vanished without a trace.

The opposing gang members exchanged worried glances, realizing they could not risk escalating the situation. Sensing the shift, the Acomo family member turned away, "Tell your boss to mind his own business."

Sola smirked, confident in his standing. The legends of the Jonas family had spread, often distorted, but those on the ground knew the power they wielded.

The tension in the air was palpable as the Acomo family member stepped back, their bravado fading under the weight of Sola's men closing in. The streets of Passaic held a reputation steeped in fear, and it was clear that crossing the Jonas family could lead to dire consequences.

Sola watched as the Dimio crew retreated, their confidence shaken. "Make sure they know they're not welcome here," he instructed his men, who nodded in understanding, weapons still at the ready.

Back at Tony's house, the door rattled again. Tony peered through the window, recognizing Sam, one of Sean's trusted associates. Hesitant, he opened the door just enough to speak.

"They sent someone from Acomo earlier, but we turned them away," Sam reported, his expression neutral. "We told them we'd informed you to let them go."

Tony frowned, contemplating his next move. "Didn't Sean say we had 24 hours to sort this out?"

"Right. The boss stands by his word. We put a stop to their approach, but he warned you not to use the landline for calls right now," Sam replied, handing Tony a burner phone. "Remember, you owe our boss a significant favor. You have 17 hours left."

As Sam turned to leave, a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Funny how the one who aims to kill you ends up making you indebted instead."

Once the door closed, Tony sank back against the wall. He weighed his options, knowing the clock was ticking. The stakes were high, and the tension between the families was reaching a boiling point. He couldn't afford to make a wrong move.

Outside, Sola and his men celebrated their small victory. "Word will spread," he said, confidence radiating from him. "They'll think twice before trying to step on our turf again."

But in the back of his mind, he knew this was just the beginning. The Soprano family was a powerful force, and Tony was not one to back down easily. Sola understood that the balance of power in this game was fragile, and any miscalculation could tip it in unexpected ways.

Meanwhile, as the night wore on, Tony found himself on edge, contemplating the precarious nature of alliances and the looming threats. He dialed Sean's number, his mind racing with strategies.

"Sean, we need to discuss our next steps. This isn't just about Acomo anymore—it's about establishing dominance," he said, his voice low but firm.

"Agreed. We can't let them think they can push us around," Sean replied. "Let's meet at the usual spot. We need to solidify our plan before they make their next move."

As Tony prepared to leave, he took a moment to glance at the family photos lining the walls. The stakes were no longer just about power; they were about protecting what mattered most. He steeled himself for the confrontation ahead, knowing that the darkness that lurked outside was closing in fast.

The night was far from over, and the shadows of the past were gathering once more, ready to test the resolve of the Soprano family and their allies.
