Chapter 96 - News from the Veterinarian

Watching an NBA game live was a small fulfillment of a wish from Sean's previous life. However, this experience also stirred many thoughts about Sean's aspirations.

While it was one thing for a third party to invest in Nike, Sean had also considered the idea of owning a basketball team himself. His passion for basketball in his past life, coupled with the lucrative potential of investing in NBA teams, made the prospect appealing. Additionally, owning a team would provide significant publicity and influence.

In his previous life, such dreams could only be played out in video games like 2K. But now, in this life, he could manage an NBA team and choose players as he pleased! After all, isn't making money about enhancing one's happiness?

Sports have an extraordinary impact worldwide, becoming integral to many cultures. Just as football can shape politics in Europe, sports wield similar influence in the United States. For instance, George W. Bush Jr. became the governor of Texas partly due to his role as the general manager of the Texas Rangers baseball team, a position he held until he won the election.

Reflecting on these thoughts, Sean felt that his visit to the Great Western Forum Arena was worthwhile, even if he wasn't in a rush to pursue this dream just yet, as he lacked the necessary funds.

The next day, Norris arrived at Sean's villa with information about young, beautiful actresses that Sean had requested. "Boss, you wanted young and beautiful," Norris said, handing over the files.

While Norris delivered the information seriously, Sean sensed a mischievous glint in his eyes, indicating that he might be thinking of something inappropriate again. Ignoring his antics, Sean began to sift through the photos.

"This one is stunning," he noted. "This one has an impressive figure, and this one has a really slim waist. Wow, does she look like she just started three years ago?"

Sean was meticulous in his examination—not because he was captivated by their beauty, but for professional reasons. He picked up a photo and compared it with others. "Is this the iconic American sweetheart?"

Her name was Meg Ryan. Although beautiful, she was slightly older than Sean preferred. Norris quickly flipped through the files. "Born in November '61, she's 23 this year—not too old. She debuted in The Old Dreams of Qionglou in 1981 and has been acting since. A couple of years ago, she starred in a film that didn't perform well at the box office. If there's a new project, she might be interested."

"Temptation? What do you mean by temptation?" Sean exclaimed, slapping Norris playfully on the head with a photo. "Remember what I said—sign her, or I'll toss you into the Atlantic to feed the sharks!"

"Okay, okay!" Norris replied, though he was puzzled by Sean's outburst. He recognized that Sean had taken a liking to Meg, and that was enough for him.

"Is there anything better than pleasing the boss by finding him a woman?" Norris thought, eager to help.

Sean dismissed Norris's enthusiasm and continued to browse through the pictures, hoping to spot someone familiar. Norris had brought over 180 actresses and more than 500 photos, all stunning. Sean planned to be selective.

After a while, Sean picked up a photo he had initially overlooked. "That's right—Sharon Stone, the Queen of Instinct!" he realized, almost missing her.

"What's her name? Give me the details," Sean ordered.

"You've got a discerning eye, Boss. Very beautiful and sexy," Norris replied, flipping through the documents. "Her name is Sharon Stone. A bit older—born in March '58, making her 27 this year. She had a minor role in Stardust Memories in '80 and has done three less-than-stellar films since, mostly in supporting roles."

"Get me seven—no, half a month. I'll have her for you!" Norris promised, patting his chest.

"Do I look like that kind of person?" Sean thought, swallowing the urge to curse at Norris's confidence.

"You're doing great, Norris. I appreciate your effort," Sean said, acknowledging his colleague's hard work.

After more than an hour of searching, Sean rubbed his eyes, feeling overwhelmed by the number of photos. "That's enough for now."

He found a few familiar faces but couldn't recall their names. Norris admitted he only had vague impressions of them, making it challenging to find the right actresses. It was indeed difficult to navigate the world of actresses, and finding someone like Sharon Stone or the American sweetheart was a stroke of luck.

"Don't worry, Boss, I'll handle it swiftly," Norris said, packing the photos back into his bag. "Is there anything else?"

"No, that's it. I'll head back tomorrow to finalize the shooting schedule. I'll wait for you in Newark," Sean replied, leaning back on the sofa, closing his eyes.

The day before, Sean had received a call from Armstrong, who mentioned that there was important information about the Dimeo Group. He had requested an in-person meeting, so Sean decided not to delay and flew back to Newark early the next morning.

Upon his return to the base, Armstrong was waiting for him, accompanied by the veterinarian who had sent the tip. "Tell me, what's the news?" Sean asked with a smile, eager to hear what they had uncovered.

"This information comes from Akomo Apple's personal doctor," the veterinarian said seriously. "He's asking for $200,000. He claims the information is worth every penny, but I suspect he's just motivated by the money."

Sean raised an eyebrow at the steep price. "$200,000? Are you serious? I spent $150,000 on ammunition and equipment for over 30 men. This guy must be out of his mind!"

In 1985, that amount was staggering—equivalent to what an average American would earn over 15 years. Even a private doctor wouldn't earn that much in less than five years.

"So, do you want to buy it?" the veterinarian asked, gauging Sean's reaction.

"Of course I do," Sean replied with a smirk. "If he's bold enough to sell information about a criminal group's leader to another criminal… then I'll buy it. But if he tries to deceive me, he'll find himself in serious trouble."

"Alright, I'll reach out to him and let you know what he says," the veterinarian nodded, somewhat envious of the hefty payday the doctor was seeking from Sean.

"Let that guy earn it," Sean thought, shaking his head. He felt a mix of disbelief and intrigue about the unfolding situation.

As he prepared for the next steps regarding the Dimeo Group, Sean's mind drifted back to his ambitions in the NBA and the actresses he was considering for film projects. With each passing day, he was increasingly aware that the choices he made would shape not only his career but also his life in this new world.

Sean was determined to seize every opportunity, whether it was expanding his business ventures or exploring personal desires. With the right moves, he could turn his dreams into reality, and he was ready to take action.
