At the entrance of the underground vault, Saul was anxiously stomping his feet, his impatience growing as he heard the faint wail of a siren in the distance.
Just as he was about to shout for the others, he spotted a group of people sprinting toward him from the big sparrow, their backpacks bulging. His eyes lit up with excitement.
"Saul, let's go!" the big sparrow called out.
"Okay!" Saul replied, cutting through any hesitation as they all rushed toward the door.
They quickly opened the door, tossed their backpacks inside, and barely managed to scramble into the car just as a police vehicle appeared at the intersection!
"Sean, you can't go directly! You'll get caught!" the big sparrow yelled, recalling a warning from their textbook.
"If you get caught, it'll be hard to escape!"
The options were clear: either destroy the car or take out the people inside. In a typical situation, if the money was secured, no one in their right mind would engage the police. Robbers usually just wanted the cash, not a confrontation.
But this was no ordinary situation.
The textbook had explained that the police often arrived right after the robbers had secured the money, and it detailed the significance of this timing. This tactic was specifically designed by psychoanalysts.
It was like a siege: once the robbers had the money, they typically had no intention of fighting; their focus was on escaping. At that moment, their combat readiness was at its lowest.
However, during the chase, police could leverage their numbers and position to conduct large-scale roundups, ultimately cornering the robbers.
Chasing situations were unpredictable and risky unless the robbers had a solid escape plan. Unfortunately, the 'teaching material' they had didn't provide them with one. Instead, it emphasized confronting the police directly to assert their dominance and break the officers' morale.
So, when the big sparrow shouted, the five robbers didn't hesitate. They half-kneeled beside the car, aiming their submachine guns at the approaching police vehicle and opened fire.
These were no ordinary criminals; each was carefully selected for their unique skills. Proficient in firearms, they assumed standard shooting postures, unleashing bursts of fire with powerful AK-47s.
Da da da da da da da da da!
The police car's front hood was riddled with bullets, the windshield shattered. The worst was yet to come: the lead police car crashed, its glass splattered with blood, indicating that someone inside had been hit.
The police were caught off guard; they hadn't expected the robbers to challenge them outright instead of fleeing. The robbers' fierce firepower and impressive marksmanship overwhelmed the officers, causing the police car to lose control, leading to chaos on the street.
"Saul, Mary, reload!" the big sparrow shouted, as the two quickly emptied their magazines and began reloading. The trio maintained a relentless barrage of gunfire.
On the street, the gunfire continued unabated, with the police suffering heavy losses and retreating in panic, unwilling to show their faces.
After reloading, Saul and Mary continued to fire while the big sparrow also took a moment to reload. The police's counterattacks were feeble, resembling a desperate effort from someone utterly defeated. Sporadic shots rang out, only to be met with retaliatory fire from the big sparrow's crew.
As their counterattacks dwindled in strength, the big sparrow shouted, "Go! Go! Go!"
The five robbers climbed into their vehicles in an organized fashion, revving the engines before speeding off.
To deter any police pursuit, the trio leaned out of the windows, firing their AK-47s in a sweeping motion.
It was only after their getaway car vanished from sight that police officers finally began to emerge from cover, the scene echoing with cries and groans.
"Call an ambulance! We need first aid kits, fast! Davis is going to die!" someone yelled.
"Pull me out! My leg is stuck!"
"Take a deep breath and don't talk!"
In a matter of moments, over 300 bullets had rained down on the police, resulting in severe casualties—six officers injured. Despite the chaos, they remained determined to prevent the robbers' escape.
In the U.S., the police had a strong sense of vengeance. They believed that if they didn't retaliate, no one would hesitate to shoot at them in the future, which was particularly dangerous in a country where firearms were prevalent.
While the police were left reeling, the big sparrow sped along their planned escape route.
Suddenly, the lead car made an unexpected U-turn onto another road. The big sparrow slammed the steering wheel in frustration but had no choice but to follow.
After a series of twists and turns, they finally stopped in a parking lot. The big sparrow jumped out and rushed over, exclaiming, "Why did you change routes suddenly?"
"I didn't want to follow the path the guy suggested," Saul replied calmly. "Who knows what might be waiting for us there?"
The big sparrow opened his mouth to argue but quickly fell silent. "What about the logs?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I told him to keep an eye out. If he didn't see us pass by, he was supposed to come to this spot to meet up," Saul explained.
The big sparrow nodded thoughtfully, a hint of admiration in his gaze. "Okay, you did well."
He understood that smart people often devised unexpected strategies, especially in critical moments.
After their intense encounter, the adrenaline was starting to fade, leaving everyone feeling fatigued. The group was quiet, and the tension in the air was palpable. Then, the sound of a car engine broke the silence, and everyone instinctively grabbed their weapons, turning toward the source.
As the vehicle pulled into view, they recognized it was the log. A collective sigh of relief washed over them.
Before the car had even come to a complete stop, the log jumped out, shouting excitedly, "Did you get it? Did you get it?"
"Of course!" the big sparrow replied, giving a thumbs up and gesturing toward the car.
"God damn, Falk! Whoa, whoa, whoa!" The log bounded toward the car, yanking open the backpack's zipper and grabbing handfuls of dollar bills, laughing maniacally.
"Alright, let's find a place to hide now. We can't afford to waste any time here. When we get back, you can sleep with money in your arms if you want!" the big sparrow said, giving the log a friendly pat on the shoulder.
"Hahaha, I get it, I get it!" The log grinned, tossing a handful of dollar bills into the air, watching them flutter down like confetti, and yelled, "Yes!"
With spirits lifted and adrenaline still coursing through their veins, the group prepared to make their next move, ready to disappear into the shadows with their hard-earned cash.
