Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Hmm, what is this?

Lucifer spent the rest of the day outside, sightseeing through the bustling streets, soaking in the vibrant colours and sounds of the city.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, he returned to the Lu residence after a quiet dinner.

The house was wrapped in a muted stillness, the usual warmth absent, and no one questioned him about his whereabouts or activities.

Father Lu remained preoccupied with his own troubles, mired in the complications surrounding his wife and son, leaving Lucifer to navigate his thoughts alone.

Upon entering his room, Lucifer tossed the system from his shoulder onto the bed with a casual grunt. He then walked to the bathroom, eager for a shower to wash away the day's adventures.

System 4858, a small, panda-like entity, observed him with a bemused expression before floating back to the bed in its familiar way.

"Hmm, the tyrant host grows more ruthless by the day. Just yesterday, he met the son of destiny, and in a mere twenty-four hours, he's made their lives utterly miserable," it mused, shaking its little head. It slid into the world's plot to assess the fallout, clucking its tongue in disapproval, "Tsk tsk, indeed, miserable—too miserable."

On the other side, Lucifer, who stood in the bathroom immersed in thought, gazed into the mirror, his pale blue eyes staring back at him with an unsettling intensity.

Normally, after travelling to a different world, his aura would dim, allowing him to blend seamlessly with the people around him.

However, today, he noticed that his aura remained as brilliant as ever, refusing to fade. Although the dark glasses he wore concealed his radiance from view, Lucifer understood that this was just a temporary measure.

He leaned closer to the mirror, scrutinizing his reflection. The image that met him was undeniably captivating; he allowed a grin to spread across his face, aware that anyone who caught a glimpse of him in this state would undoubtedly succumb to his charm.

"Well, this is rather intriguing," he mused. Unfamiliar with discomfort or hesitation, Lucifer shrugged off the matter. He simply decided to do as he pleased.

After leaving the confines of the bathroom, he began to pack his belongings.

Meanwhile, System 4858 rolled around on the bed, wondering what sort of mischief this tyrant host would conjure next.

Suddenly, a firm knock echoed through the room.

Lucifer halted, glancing toward the door, a sly smile playing on his lips as a thought crossed his mind. "Come in."

The door swung open to reveal a young girl who appeared to be in high school. She had round eyes filled with curiosity, chubby cheeks that framed her bright red lips, and a youthful exuberance that radiated from her. Dressed in a short black top and tight jeans, she was undeniably a schoolflower.

The system, tapping into its database, recognized the girl immediately. 'This is Lu Fang, your half-sister. In the original story, she's the only person who stood by your side. Interestingly, she is Lu Jing's biological sister, yet for some unknown reason, she harbours resentment towards him while aligning with Lucifer'

Lu Fang lingered near the door, her expression one of astonishment. While she had always known her brother was handsome, she didn't anticipate just how breathtaking he would be. His beauty seemed to transcend reality, creating an aura around him that was almost otherworldly.

Lucifer sat casually on the sofa, gesturing for her to take a seat. "Sit. What's the matter?"

Snapped from her daze, Lu Fang felt warmth flood her cheeks, a lovely flush colouring her face as she hurried to the chair, settling down. Her eyes sparkled as she covertly stole glances at her brother.

As the moment stretched, Lucifer's patience began to wane, and his demeanour shifted. A coldness enveloped the room, his gaze turning icy.

Lu Fang jolted back to reality and finally spoke. "Brother, did you really beat Lu Jing and Mother?"

The system observed Lu Fang closely, wondering if she had come to plead for apologies from Lucifer. It shook its head in disappointment; after spending so much time with him, it had never witnessed the tyrant host admit to any wrongdoing.

Feeling a wave of helplessness, the system turned away, unable to watch the potentially explosive confrontation unfold.

Lucifer raised his brows and nodded, a sly glimmer in his eyes. "Is there a problem?"

Lu Fang's expression darkened, her lips curling downward as she glared at him with a mix of annoyance and disbelief. "Of course! Can you beat my brother…" Her voice rose, and her cheeks flushed a deep crimson with anger. "… without me!"

She slammed her hand onto the table, making the entire room tense up.

The sound echoed like a sudden thunderclap, and System 4858 turned sharply, its metallic frame emitting a faint whir as it regarded Lu Fang with eyes wide in astonishment.

Lucifer's grin stretched wider, a hint of amusement sparkling in his gaze as he leaned back into the shadowy velvet of his chair.

Lu Fang's fury boiled over as she continued, her words tumbling out in a rapid, heated stream. "How could you beat that bastard without me personally watching? Damn it!" She clenched her fists so tightly that her knuckles turned white. "If I had known this would happen, I would have come home early. I missed a good thing! Brother Lucy, you must make it up to me!"

Her glare pierced through Lucifer, who was now watching her with mild interest, one brow slightly raised. Despite the rage that twisted her expression, there was a certain innocent stubbornness in her large eyes, glistening with unshed frustration

She puffed out her chest and crossed her arms defiantly, the pose making her look less menacing and more like a child throwing a tantrum.

"Oh?" His voice dropped to a low, teasing drawl as he leaned forward, the sharp line of his jaw catching the dim light. "How should I make it up to you?"

Lu Fang matched his movement, the defiance in her eyes hardening into something playful.

She smirked, a dangerous edge to her lips. "How about you beat that bastard up again? This time, I want to be there to watch and spread the footage all over the internet."

A low chuckle rumbled in Lucifer's chest, resonant and dark. "Haha, my dear sister, is that all you want?"

"Of course not!" Lu Fang tossed her head back, the fire in her eyes intensifying. A strand of her hair fell across her cheek, but she didn't seem to notice. "I want to kill him." The room fell silent at her declaration, the air heavy with an electric tension.

"I even saved money so I could hire an assassin from the dark web to kill him, but I changed my mind after seeing the mess on the internet. Lu Jing's reputation might be ruined, but it's not enough. I want to make him suffer, to break him piece by piece."

System 4858's gears almost stuttered as it processed her words. It blinked, if such a thing were possible for an artificial intelligence, in sheer disbelief. 'Just what did the son of luck do to her?' it wondered, its circuits buzzing with newfound dread. 'She even wants to hire an assassin… just how deep does her hatred run?'

Lucifer watched his sister's face, his expression inscrutable. He, too, was curious. "Why do you hate your biological brother so much?" His voice was measured, but his eyes held a cold gleam.

Lu Fang's gaze drifted momentarily as she fell into silence, her face softening with an odd blend of detachment and carelessness. She shrugged as if the topic bored her. "No reason. I just find him annoying, that's all."

She met Lucifer's eyes with a casual blink before turning away, the tension in her posture easing. "Brother Lucy, did I say something wrong?" she asked, tilting her head, her expression an odd mix of innocence and mischief.

Lucifer stared at her for a long moment before a laugh rumbled from his chest, rich and sinister. "No, you did the right thing. It's only natural to want to get rid of annoying things."

His voice dropped to a whisper, more for himself than for her. "Don't worry, he won't end well."

System 4858 shuddered as it shifted its gaze between the siblings. An imaginary vision flickered in its processors—both Lucifer and Lu Fang with spectral, red-tipped devil horns curving from their heads, eyes glinting with malevolence.

The AI felt an involuntary chill if such a thing were possible.

"Damn it!" it muttered under its breath, the words reverberating through its system. "Is the son of luck really a son of luck? Not the son of doom? How did he manage to provoke these demons?"
