The Sky High Airport was a marvel of modern engineering, its sleek, glass-and-steel design housing hundreds of planes and helicopters.
It buzzed with life, as passengers flowed in and out like clockwork, some rushing to catch flights, others arriving after long journeys.
Today was no different. The departure halls echoed with announcements and the murmur of excited travellers.
It was one of the busiest days of the year, yet no one suspected that this seemingly ordinary day would mark the beginning of an earth-shattering change. A sudden commotion broke through the constant hum of the terminal.
"Haaa! Male god!"
"My male god looks dazzling as ever!"
"Look at his face! Haaa!"
A growing crowd of onlookers gathered near one of the private exits, their eyes fixed on a tall figure surrounded by bodyguards.
He wore a hat pulled low over his face and large sunglasses that concealed most of his features, but even those flimsy attempts at disguise couldn't hide his striking presence.
Passersby couldn't help but stop and stare. In a place where celebrities came and went without much fuss, this scene was still enough to stir excitement.
A man in his mid-twenties, on his way to meet a blind date, halted mid-stride and gaped at the sight. "Damn, I thought I was decent-looking, but after seeing him... I've lost all confidence. Bad luck for me," he muttered, shaking his head.
The man at the centre of attention, Rong Qing, rubbed his brow in annoyance. The crowd's excitement was nothing new to him, but the noise grated on his nerves.
"Mr. Rong, we're in public," one of his bodyguards whispered in a low, cautious tone. Rong Qing gave a curt nod, his expression unreadable behind the sunglasses, and continued walking, his bodyguards creating a shield around him as they moved swiftly through the airport.
As his fans chased after him, a girl in the crowd wearing a pink top suddenly stopped and looked into the distance where a man sat quietly, wearing a black shirt. His face was hidden by shoulder-length hair, and his glasses covered most of his features. At first glance, he seemed like any ordinary person. Yet the girl couldn't take her eyes off him.
Just as she was about to take a step toward him, her friend grabbed her arm, dragging her away. "What are you doing? Stop daydreaming, and let's go."
The girl looked back several times as they disappeared into the crowd, her friend finally asking, "What are you looking at? Your male god went in the opposite direction."
The girl in the pink top shook her head. She didn't know why, but she felt as if she'd missed something important. The figure of the man sitting in the corner lingered in her mind.
"Nothing. Let's go. We're late for the train." She sighed and pulled her friend along.
To anyone watching, it was just another celebrity passing through the bustling terminal.
But little did they know, this seemingly uneventful moment would spark something far more sinister, something that would soon shake the world to its core.
Inside the airport, the man sitting in the corner with his eyes closed remained motionless as the crowd bustled around him. He seemed to blend into the background, almost as if the world itself avoided drawing attention to him.
A tall, well-built man approached him and handed him a bottle of cold water. "Lucifer, here. Drink this. How is your headache?"
The person leaning back on the chair finally opened his eyes, revealing pale blue irises that were chilling in their clarity. Even though his eyes were shielded by a pair of dark glasses, it was obvious that these eyes possessed an otherworldly beauty enchanting, yet unnerving.
Lucifer accepted the bottle but remained silent, closing his eyes once again. Outwardly, he appeared calm, composed, and distant, but inside, his mind was a vortex of chaotic thoughts.
His lips curved into a small, almost imperceptible smile.
Meanwhile, in a corner of Lucifer's mind, a small voice sobbed in despair. "Sob...sob! Who can save me? Who can save me from this tyrant?"
System 4858 cried in non-existent tears. Its small, panda-like body bounced helplessly within the confines of the mental prison Lucifer had created for it.
"You're too noisy," Lucifer muttered, his voice low and indifferent.
System 4858's panicked sobs came to an abrupt halt, its adorable panda eyes widening in fear. The system trembled as it stared at its host.
Lucifer paid no attention to the trembling system. He had seen this kind of behaviour too many times to care. "What are you waiting for?" Lucifer's voice was cold, his words sharp.
The system immediately straightened up, its circuits sparking in a desperate attempt to comply. It quickly produced a glowing silver book, the world's plot, and handed it to its host with utmost respect. "My lord, here," System 4858 said, its voice filled with deference.
Lucifer lazily flipped through the book before tossing it back. "Boring."
"Yes! Yes! It's indeed boring. There's no need for the great host to trouble himself with such trivial matters."
System 4858 smiled flatteringly, but inside, it was dancing with joy. 'Thank goodness! This world is just an ordinary, modern setting. Nothing exciting will happen here, and I won't have to bear the consequences of any broken rules. Phew!'
The plot was simple: the original owner of Lucifer's body was a small, unlucky character who was destined to die a few chapters into the story. The protagonist of this world was the original owner's half-brother, and their father had arranged for the original owner to marry a villain with a broken leg.
The protagonist would take advantage of the situation and emerge victorious, as usual. His half-brother will change his mind halfway and the original owner would also listen to the advice and run away from the marriage but got himself killed in the accident.
System 4858 breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Lucifer found the world boring, there would be no chaos, no destruction, and no bending of the world's rules. It wouldn't have to suffer the consequences of its host's actions.
System 4858 learned its lesson and knew how to serve this tyrant host. 'Sob sob. Other systems were boosting about their hosts but I on the other hand was stuck with the devil. Sob sob.'
"How miserable"
"Hmm?" Lucifer smiled lightly and looked at the panda with a gentle smile.
The system felt chill and immediately smiled " How lucky for me to have such a great host like you. I'm grateful!" System blinked his big eyes and started to act cute.
However, Lucifer wasn't so easily predictable. Lucifer's pale blue eyes flickered with a strange light before he smiled. a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
"Assistant Gao Ning, I've changed my mind. I won't be staying here for long. Please return." Gao Ning, who had just arrived, was stunned. He couldn't quite place it, but something about Lucifer had changed. His employer seemed different, more... alluring, but in a way that sent a chill down his spine.
"Assistant Gao Ning?" Lucifer's voice was calm, but there was an underlying edge that snapped Gao Ning out of his daze.
"Huh? Now? Are you sure?" Gao Ning asked, confusion evident in his voice. Just hours ago, Lucifer had been excited to reunite with his family after years abroad, and now he was suddenly changing his plans.
Lucifer nodded, booking a plane ticket on his phone. He sent some money to Gao Ning as an apology, and with that, his decision was final.
Gao Ning watched in confusion as Lucifer waved him off, the figure of his employer slowly disappearing into the distance.
Gao Ning's mind was filled with confusion as he watched the figure in the distance waving his hand. His mind was still muddled until the plane took off.
"What the? What just happened?" he mumbled to himself, still processing the abrupt change.
As Lucifer began walking toward the exit, the crowd unconsciously parted to make way for him. His steps were unhurried, his smile growing more pronounced with each passing moment.
Some people turned around, hoping to catch a glimpse of his face, but his long hair and glasses obscured his features.
In the corner of Lucifer's mind, System 4858 trembled, its tiny panda body curled up into a ball. "Sob...sob..." it whimpered, knowing all too well that the quiet moments never lasted long with its chaotic host.
