Chapter 4 - The Reason Of My Heart Beats.

As the first rays of sunlight brightend the world through the delicate curtains of her room, Letentia stirred awake, feeling a warmth and calmness again.

A soft smile were on her lips as she stretched, ready to face the day ahead.

After a quick wash, Letentia slipped into her simple yet elegant clothing.

She took a moment to gaze at the necklace she had clutched the night before, a reminder of what she lost.

Today, she resolved to honor their memory by making the orphanage a brighter place for the children.

Stepping into the bustling buzzy kitchen, she was greeted by the familiar sounds of pots clanging and the sweet aroma of freshly baked bread.

Juld, her friend and fellow caretaker, was already hard at work, his hands dusted with flour as he kneaded dough.

"Good morning, Letentia!" he called out with energy. "Would you help me with the preparation of breakfast?"

The thought of spending the morning helping the house alongside Juld, was undeniably appealing.

They could create something special together, a mundane thing, yet she cherished the most, that would bring joy to the little ones.

But as she glanced out the window, her thoughts drifted to the town beyond the orphanage.

A part of her longed to go somewhere else, and perhaps she would meet Resendus again.

The idea of seeing him, of rekindling their connection, was something she craved too.

1: Stay and work with Juld

Letentia took a deep breath, the warm scent of freshly cooked breakfast filling the kitchen.

She turned to Juld, who was busy stirring the pot, and felt a wave of comfort wash over her.

"Alright, Juld." she said with a smile, ready to dive into their morning routine.

"Nice!" Juld exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. "I'll handle the soup, and you can prepare the salads. We'll make a delicious meal for the children today."

As they worked side by side, Letentia chopped fresh vegetables for the salad, the rhythmic motion calming her mind.

"You know, I was thinking about how much the children will love this meal."

She said, glancing at Juld, "It must be delicious because I'm participating."

Juld rolled his eyes playfully, a grin spreading across his face.

"Absolutely! It's what makes this place feel like home." he replied, his hands deftly mixing the ingredients in the pot.

"And it's always more fun with you around. You bring a certain happiness to m- the home."

Letentia chuckled, "Happiness, huh? I think it's just the potatoes and fresh veggies working their charm."

Just then, a commotion erupted outside the kitchen door. The sound of giggles and shouts filled the air, and Letentia exchanged a knowing glance with Juld.

"Uh-oh, sounds like trouble." Letentia said, stifling a laugh.

Before they could react, a group of children burst into the kitchen, their eyes wide with mischief.

"Tia sister! Juld brother! Can we have ice cream?" one of the little ones pleaded, bouncing on their toes.

"Yeah! Ice cream! Please!" another chimed in, their voices overlapping in a chorus of excitement.

"Not yet! We're making breakfast!" Juld said, trying to maintain order, but the children were already circling the kitchen like a pack of hungry wolves.

Letentia couldn't help but smile at their enthusiasm. "Alright, alright! But after you have had eaten the meal and help us." she said, raising her hands in mock surrender.

The children paused, their eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Help with what?" one asked, tilting their head.

"Help us set the table! If you do, maybe we can have a little ice cream afterward, as said." Letentia proposed.

"Deal!" the children shouted in unison, rushing to grab plates and utensils.

As they scrambled to help, Letentia and Juld exchanged amused glances.

The kitchen was alive with energy, and Letentia felt a sense of contentment settle over her.

In this moment, surrounded by family.

It was the reason why her heart kept beating with such warmth and happiness.

2: Buy Supplements in Town

"See you then, the breakfast will be done in about an hours." Juld shouted after her.

Letentia nodded then stepped out of the orphanage, the morning sun warming her face and heart.

The vibrant market was alive with the sounds of vendors calling out their wares and the chatter of townsfolk going about their day.

"Good morning, Lady Letentia!" a cheerful voice called out.

She turned to see a familiar face, one of the vendors she often bought from.

"Good morning! These fruits look wonderful." she replied, placing a few coins on the counter.

"Heading to the orphanage to bake, I assume?" the vendor asked with a knowing smile.

Before Letentia could respond, a figure emerged from the crowd, his presence commanding yet familiar.

It was Resendus, "Letty!" he called, a broad smile lighting up his face. "What a coincidence."

"Resendus!" she exclaimed excitingly, her surprise mingling with joyment. "I knew I can find you somewhere in town."

He beamed a smile and stepped closer, his expression shifting from surprise to seriousness. "I did not expect to see you this quickly. Please, wait a moment."

He pulled out a beautifully wrapped box, the gold ribbon glinting in the sunlight like a beacon of their shared past.

"Oh, Resendus, you didn't have to—" she began, but he interrupted her with a gentle wave of his hand.

"It's fine, it is yours now. You can keep it or if you want, you can sell it too. I just want you to feel my happiness at finding you again." His eyes sparkled with sincerity and huged her tightly, and for a moment, the years melted away.

She hesitated, glancing at the ornate package. "You really didn't need to go through all this trouble. I'm... just happy to see you." She returned the embrace.

He chuckled softly, the sound warm and inviting. "I will give you the whole world and everything if I can. You are the reason of my hear beats."

"I do not believe you and..." Letentia raised an eyebrow playfully, a hint of mischief in her eyes. "Did you run away from the guards again?"

"Not exactly." he replied. "They're over there, keeping a respectful distance. But don't panic, they're my closest guards. They won't do a thing and no one will do anything unnecessary."

She laughed, the sound light and carefree. "You always did have a flair for the dramatic."

"Only when it comes to you." he said, his tone shifting to something more earnest.

"I wanted to see you, Letty. I never believe that you are gone."

"... I am fine in the orphanage. The children keep me on my toes."

"Good to hear." he said, his gaze softening. "You always had a way of bringing light to the darkest places."

Before she could respond, a loud commotion erupted nearby, pulling their attention.

A group of children from the orphanage had wandered into the market, their laughter ringing out as they chased each other around the stalls.

"Looks like my little ones are here." Letentia said, her heart swelling with affection. "I should get back to them."

"Let me help." Resendus offered, his eyes lighting up at the sight of the children.

"You must have some time! Then, come, I'm inviting you to my home."

His ears perked up, and he looked momentarily surprised.

The leader of the royal guards, Quaerus, stepped closer, his expression serious.

But Resendus waved him off, a playful grin on his face. "Of course, I came here to see you, after all."

They walked side by side while the children were circling the guards.
