Well, it was bound to happen sometime. Someone was bound to see her and Dagomarus together; she just didn't expect to be caught in such an awkward position.
A small smile tugged at her lips as she made a mental pun. *Well, now what?* Deputy Lockhardt didn't seem angry—just thoroughly embarrassed. *HAH! He wasn't the only one sitting here red-faced and squirming.*
She needed to know how he planned to handle what he had seen. Drawing a deep breath, she straightened and met his gaze.
"Okay. So, what exactly did you see?"
She wanted him to admit that he had been spying. More than that, she needed to be sure he wasn't just guessing or trying to fish for an admission from her. Deputy Lockhardt flushed again, his gaze dropping to the floor. His hands fidgeted restlessly.
"Uhh... well, I saw you and your dog. Together."
