Chapter 71 - Waltz of Blades and Bullets.

In the grand hall of an opulent mansion, the air was thick with an aura of wealth and power. Chandeliers of crystal cast a shimmering light across marble floors and ornate furnishings, creating an atmosphere of understated luxury. The room was silent, save for the soft ticking of a grand clock in the corner, marking the passage of time with an almost ominous precision.

A man entered, his appearance meticulously disheveled. He wore a long, dark trench coat that seemed to absorb the light, contrasting sharply with the pristine surroundings. His eyes were sharp, scanning the room with a predatory intensity, and his movements were smooth and purposeful. His hair, a tousled mess of dark strands, framed a face marked by years of experience and hardened resolve.

At the far end of the hall stood another man, impeccably dressed in a fine suit tailored to perfection. The suit was a deep navy blue, paired with a crisp white shirt and a silk tie that whispered sophistication. His shoes, polished to a mirror shine, clicked softly on the marble as he turned to face the newcomer. His demeanor was calm, almost bored, but his eyes betrayed a keen intelligence and a latent, dangerous power.

The man in the trench coat approached, stopping at a respectful distance. He bowed slightly, acknowledging the authority of the man in the suit. "I have located Ryoshi," he reported, his voice low but clear.

The suited man raised an eyebrow, signaling for him to continue.

"The target is residing at a dojo known as Seiryu-kan," he continued. "It's situated right in the middle of the rural area, far from the urban chaos but not exactly hidden. The place is well-maintained and seems to attract a small group of skilled individuals. They are often seen practicing or sparring within the dojo grounds, honing their abilities."

The man in the trench coat paused, ensuring he had the suited man's full attention. "The dojo itself is unguarded, relying on its rural location for some semblance of security. The surrounding area is open and quiet, which could either be an advantage or a vulnerability."

The man in the suit nodded thoughtfully, considering the information. "Seiryu-kan, you say? Interesting. And you're sure it's Ryoshi?"

"Yes," the man in the trench coat affirmed. "There's no mistake. I've confirmed his presence there multiple times over the past week. He has been seen training with the others, and there is no doubt it is him."

A slow, calculating smile spread across the face of the man in the suit. "Good. Then strike at midnight. I want no loose ends."

The man in the trench coat nodded, his face a mask of determination. "Understood. We will proceed as planned."

Yu-chan got up on his feet, a subtle shift in his posture indicating that he sensed something was amiss. "Did you feel it too, Kage?" he asked quietly, his eyes scanning the dojo.

Kage nodded, his expression serious. "The intent to kill. If that's what you're talking about, then yes."

Together, they stepped out into the dark, silent night. The atmosphere was tense, each breath they took seemingly absorbed by the stillness around them.

As they walked towards the entrance, they saw a group approaching. The figures emerged from the shadows, their appearance unmistakably that of mercenaries. At their center was a slender man, his movements smooth and predatory, like a serpent ready to strike. He wore a long, dark coat that fluttered with each step, his eyes sharp and calculating.

Flanking him were two imposing figures: a man with a huge belly, who lumbered with a menacing grace, and a girl with an ominous oni mask, her eyes glinting through the slits with an unsettling intensity. The trio made their way to the dojo, their presence exuding a palpable threat.

As they arrived at the entrance of the main dojo, they found two men seated calmly, seemingly unfazed by the arrival of the mercenaries. The slender man stepped forward, his lips curling into a sly smile. "If it isn't Yu-chan, Yami no Ryōshi," he sneered.

Yu-chan stood up slowly, his eyes meeting the slender man's gaze. "I'm not sure I've heard of you," he said nonchalantly, causing a flicker of irritation to cross the man's face.

The slender man, whose name was Arata, clenched his fists and yelled, "I am Arata! Known in the underworld as the Whisper of Death, the marksman who handles guns with unparalleled precision!"

Yu-chan shrugged casually. "Well, Whisper of Death or not, I'm not really in the mood for unnecessary challenges tonight. I prefer my evenings without bullet holes, thank you very much."

Arata's eyes narrowed. "That's one way to run away," he said, spinning his gun theatrically before aiming it at Yu-chan. In a swift, unexpected move, he tilted the gun, aiming it at Kage instead. "Let's see how you handle this."

Arata continued, almost as if giving a sales pitch. "This gun produces almost no sound. It's a marvel of modern engineering."

He fired a shot, and his men immediately sprang into action, charging towards the dojo with lethal intent. Yu-chan spun around, his sword flashing as he unsheathed it in one fluid motion. The pressure released from his katana was so intense that it threw the mercenaries back, a wave of force scattering them like leaves in the wind.

Arata adjusted his aim towards Kage once more, but Yu-chan was quicker. In a blindingly fast motion, he sliced through the barrel of Arata's gun, severing it cleanly in half. Arata stared at the ruined weapon in stunned silence, his bravado crumbling.

"Guess your modern marvel wasn't much of a match for a good old-fashioned katana," Yu-chan said with a smirk, lowering his sword. The night air was filled with a tense silence, broken only by the sound of the mercenaries scrambling to regroup.

"Next time, maybe bring a louder gun," Yu-chan added dryly, turning his back on Arata and walking back towards the dojo with Kage by his side.

Arata, called out, "This isn't over! We've just begun!"

As Yu-chan analyzed the situation with precision and calm, he mused, With each shot, the bullets are ricocheting off the man's large body, gaining speed and force due to the angle of deflection and the elasticity of the impact. He reflected, This phenomenon, known as an elastic collision, occurs when two objects collide and bounce off each other with no loss of kinetic energy. The more elastic the body, the faster and more powerful the bullet becomes after each bounce.

Arata's bullets, redirected by the huge man's resilient body, were now coming at Yu-chan with even greater velocity. Yu-chan deflected each bullet with his katana, the blade a blur of motion. The night was filled with the sharp clinks of metal against metal.

Suddenly, the girl in the oni mask taunted from behind, "Did you seriously forget about me?" She swung her shorter katana at Yu-chan, who managed to deflect her strike just in time. A deflected bullet struck her blade, reducing the force of her attack. Using the momentum, Yu-chan redirected another bullet, sending it back with even greater velocity.

The bullet hit the huge man, who gritted his teeth and redirected the same bullet back at Yu-chan, now moving with even more force. Yu-chan angled his katana perfectly, neutralizing the attack without damaging his blade.

Arata watched, convinced Yu-chan was protecting Kage, not realizing Yu-chan's true skill and strategy. The scene was a whirlwind of action and intensity, each movement precise and deadly. As the mercenaries regrouped, the night grew even darker, the tension palpable in the air. Yu-chan and Kage stood ready, prepared for whatever came next.
