Diablo turned to Robert, his expression grave. "Far across the universe, there exists a planet once home to a mighty demon civilization," he began, his voice carrying the weight of ancient history. "This world was peaceful, governed by a council of Demon Lords, each ruling their domain with strength and wisdom.
"However, peace was shattered when one of the Demon Lords, driven mad by grief after his wife was brutally murdered, went berserk. In his rage, he vowed vengeance against those he believed responsible—the vampires. He slaughtered any vampire that crossed his path, and his actions ignited a great war on Earth between our two races: humans and vampires who sought power."
Diablo paused, his eyes reflecting the horrors of that time. "Just as you have kings, we demons have our rulers too. During this tumultuous period, our leader was a powerful Queen who wielded the Frost Ability. Her strength and resolve were unmatched. She confronted the berserk Demon Lord and, after a fierce battle, managed to stop him."
"But the conflict did not end there," Diablo continued. "In his desperation, the Demon Lord invoked a forbidden power, summoning the Seven Eternal Sins. These entities brought chaos and destruction, but only a Demon Lord could summon the most fearsome of all—the Prince of Shadows. His presence brought ruin to our home, turning it into a wasteland of despair and darkness."
Diablo's voice softened as he looked at Robert. "I am here because of my Queen's orders, and also to fulfill a promise I made to your kind."
Diablo's eyes met Robert's, a grave expression on his face. "I am responsible for all the abilities," he replied, his voice carrying the weight of countless years. "And I am also the reason why no one remembers the war."
Robert frowned, skepticism evident in his gaze. "I still think vampires are mere fantasy," he said, referring to what humans commonly believe.
Diablo sighed, understanding Robert's doubt. "It is natural for humans to be skeptical," he said. "The memories of the war were erased to protect both our worlds. The conflict was too devastating, and the knowledge of its existence could bring about more chaos. But believe me, the existence of vampires, demons, and all the abilities you think are mere fantasy are very real. I have been tasked with ensuring this delicate balance remains, even if it means erasing the collective memory of such a catastrophic event."
The weight of Diablo's words hung heavy in the air, the enormity of his responsibility slowly sinking in for Robert. The world was much more complex than he had ever imagined, with hidden histories and forgotten wars shaping the reality he thought he knew.
Robert, still digesting Diablo's revelations, asked calmly, "Where are the vampires now? Where are they hiding?"
Diablo shook his head, his expression firm. "I cannot tell you that," he said. "Their location must remain secret for the safety of both our worlds."
Robert maintained his composure, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I see. But what about the Prince of Shadows? What happens now?"
Diablo's gaze darkened. "The Prince of Shadows cannot attack Earth as long as the demon who summoned him holds no grudge against humans. It's been a long time since the summoning, and Earth remains safe for now. However, I cannot assure you that it will remain the same for long. The balance is delicate, and any shift in the demon's emotions could change everything."
Robert listened intently, processing the information. "So, as long as the demon harbors no ill will, we are safe. But that could change at any moment?"
"Precisely," Diablo confirmed. "This world faces a dire threat. Our only hope is to ensure that the past remains buried and that no new animosities arise."
Diablo clapped his hands together, the sharp sound echoing through the dusty castle, signaling that their conversation had come to an end.
Robert, sensing the finality of the gesture, quickly interjected, "If the Prince of Shadows is so powerful, why not learn his ability?"
Diablo's expression softened, but his eyes remained serious. "It is impossible," he explained, "to learn the abilities of the Summoned Ones. These demons, brought forth through ancient and forbidden rituals, possess powers that cannot be transferred or taught. Their abilities are inherently tied to their very existence and cannot be replicated by others."
Before Robert could respond, the scene around them shifted in an instant. The dilapidated castle walls and dusty air melted away, and in the blink of an eye, they found themselves back in the grand library, with its imposing shelves and silent grandeur.
