After a few minutes of waiting, Kol found a barrel on one side of the ship and sat. Kayil left Kol and rejoined the group inside with Ross. Looking around, with nothing to do but wait Kol was left to his thoughts.
He thought about the fact that Nicole would find out about his capture and would think less of him or worse she would find out about his playtime with Desherine. Images then flashed inside Kol's head last night and tried to comfort himself in the thought that he did It to survive. The thought of his deal with Desherine now poked his mind, trying to recall what their deal was about. The deal was for him to kill her daughter since she could not do it herself. If he succeeded in killing her, he would then be free. But if he didn't Desherine would then own his soul.
"But she said she only values corrupted souls. If she hasn't done anything yet even after Eden's death does that mean my soul is not corrupted?" he said to himself.
A call from a distance interrupts his thinking.
Kol then hurriedly went up to the edge of the ship, looking down the ship and seeing the team leaving the cave's opening. They carefully navigated the loose rocks on the shore before embarking on small boats.
Once on board, Kol took a good look at them. Though they just came out of a battle, not one of them had any injuries. The most unusual for Kol was their morale, the team composed of Dwarves, Elves, and Humans were all merry—the complete opposite of what Kol had imagined.
The last one to get on board was a person with tattered armor similar Lindow, covered in dried blood and filled with scars throughout their exposed body. Concluding that Kayil healed his wounds, Kol then rushed to him. It was Drew.
"Kid. You're ok." Drew said with a smile on his face. "I thought I was the only one left."
Drew's eyes started to water and the once joyous rescue team began to quiet down, Kol's on the other hand began to pour.
"I'm sorry. I thought we could do it. I really thought.." Kol started crying.
"No, if it wasn't for you we wouldn't have gotten that far." Drew said reaching for his pocket. "His wounds never healed, it only got worse after the fight. But with what little moment he had left, he told me to give you this."
Drew then took out a small locket from his pocket. The locket Balfir showed Kol with the sketch of his daughter.
Kol then fell to his knees sobbing.
Their grief however is interrupted by Ross.
"I'm sorry to interrupt this touching reunion, but we have business to take care of." He says walking to the front of the ship between Ella and Kayil. "Brace yourselves."
The dwarf paladin then instructed everyone to hold on to the ship's railings.
"What's going on?" Kol asked the dwarf.
"We must prevent any harm from falling upon anybody else in the future, and to assure that we have to destroy the witch's lair to prevent any other beings from inhabiting it." The dwarf explains.
Wiping away his tears Kol focused on the three ahead of them. These three alone are the strongest beings on the island of Oakheart.
Magic circles formed around their persons.
Ella then summons a beautifully gold-engraved rapier from the air. She takes a stance pulling the handle to the side of her face with one hand and the other behind her. As soon as her magic breaks she then unleashes 3 quick stabs in the direction of the spire. Three separate explosions then erupt from the outside of the spire destroying a huge portion. The once shark tooth of a spire was now a pile of rubble like a mass of rocks protruding from the water's surface. The explosions woke the sea making the boat rock from the waves.
Kayil's ring glowed a bright yellow light while muttering a prayer, he then raised his hands to the sky. The magic around him breaks as the clouds darken above the broken spire and 5 lightings then tear through the sky, striking the spire's remains. Each strike warmed and electrified the air, the earth shook at each strike increasing the intensity of waves. The spire no longer looked like it was before after the thunderstorm, now only an uneven platform of an island remained.
After the two went, Ross finished his spell. His magic broke around him, and a few seconds passed, and then the sea roiled beneath them. Ross performs a few swift movements with his hands. The sea then sank in level revealing the broken island, the sea then rose tilting on its side. The wave then crashed and washed the island away.
When the boat settled the three then started conversing.
The people on the boat cheered and applauded the efforts of the three. Their feats were nothing short of legendary. Kol couldn't help but admire them even more, especially Ross.
Ross is a 3rd-level blue and green spell caster though he is not the only 3rd-level spell caster on the island he is known for being a passive nature lover, while Kayil to Kol's knowledge is a 3rd-level white spell caster and Ella is a 3rd-level red spell caster.
"C'mon lad, let's go. I'll take you to your quarters." The dwarf said as he signaled some of the guards to help Drew up.
Kol looked to Drew and the guards came.
"It's ok kid, I'll look for you after I get checked up," Drew said with a smile.
Kol was then led inside the ship. The ship had 6 private rooms, each able to hold at least 2 people. A kitchen and 1 mess hall for the crew to eat but it has been converted to a max shift sleeping quarters for the paladins and guards.
Kol was brought into one of the empty rooms and again left in silence
