Chapter 8 - Bea is happy

The three walking away from Rosseler's house with a new sense of purpose or inspiration.

"I can't believe we're wizards now. I can't wait to tell my mother." David said walking along side June and Kol. "What was the spell you found?"

Kol hesitates answering the question, mainly because of what book he found it from. But before he could answer David interrupts his thoughts.

"I found a spell that can increase my accuracy, although it won't last long. I have to test it tonight." He says with enthusiasm.

"I found a spell that can electrocute people I touch." Said June walking beside Kol.

"And she speaks!" David exclaimed. Kol was taken a back as well since the only time he heard June speak was when she introduced herself earlier.

"Honestly feel free to talk to us. I mean we're gonna be together for a year." David says.

"Yes. I acknowledge that we will be together for a year, but that doesn't mean I have to be friendly with the both of you." June says looking walking a little bit ahead of the two.

As they walk a little bit deeper in town, Kol keeps thinking about the Peter's diary entries. Did he write down the method of how he made the potion? What did he do to be branded as a criminal?

"I know she's a little bit cold but you have to admit she is a looker." David whispers to Kol.

Interrupted by the thought Kol looks at June. Her figure bathed in sunset, her hair absorbing the light giving off a brown color. Kol admits, she is beautiful.

Suddenly two kids start running through the street passing June.

"Kol! You're back." One the boy says as he runs towards Kol. Kol recognizes him his name is Jim.

"I thought you won't be reading to us tonight." Angel said also running towards Kol. "Bea said you'd be busy today."

"Hey, guys. Don't worry I'll still be reading to you tonight don't worry. C'mon it's almost supper." Kol says as he brings the kids to the front.

"Who are these little ones?" David asked as he follows Kol.

June sees them split from the road and decides to follow. June doesn't know anybody from this town and would prefer and would prefer to have some company despite what she said earlier.

The group slowly approaches the edge of town towards the orphanage. Soon both David and June can clearly see the building they're heading towards.

"Kol. You little saint. Don't tell me you read to these kids every night?" David says in delight.

June stops and stares at the thought of what David just said. But still follows a few steps behind them.

"Hmm? Yeah, I read to them almost every night otherwise I won't be able to sleep." Kol says turning around surprised that David followed him, even more so when he spots June behind him.

"Wait. You live here as well?" David asked.

"Yeah." Kol says as he lets the kids go run towards the house.

"You mean you're an orphan as well?" June from behind David says. David almost jumping from June suddenly speaking up from behind him.

"Yeah, since I was a baby." Kol says not putting any mind in the question.

Junes turns and starts walking away from the two.

"No worries. You and I will be classmates from now on, might as well be friends, right?" David says with a smile. "I'll see you tomorrow, Kol." Waiving good bye as he leaves.

The door opens and Kol sees Bea, with a bowl of salad in her left hand and a ladle in her right. She greets Kol with a smile like she normally does. Bea is a sister of the church of Obedience and it always reminds Kol and kids by her constant use of her church robes as she is wearing now. Although she has other clothes, she mostly wears them when none of her robes have been washed or dried yet.

"Who was that? Did you make new friends?" Bea asked.

"I like to think so, yeah." Kol replies. "Bea, I have something to tell you."

"Well, this looks serious. You better come in we can talk in the kitchen while I cook the rest of supper."

They both make their way to the kitchen, Bea constantly calling out names of the kids who are either too noisy or is causing some problems with other kids.

"What seems to be bothering you, Kol?"

"it's not a bother actually. It's more like good news." Kol says as he puts down his spell book. "I went through the aptitude test today."

"You got the blue energy?" Bea says happily.

"Yes, and.." Kol pauses for a second.

Should I tell her about the 5 colors result? He thinks to himself. Kol then decides to keep that information hidden for now it might Bea's expectations and his fear of disappointing her especially in the case that he might die in the coming 6 months under going Rosseler's course.

"I also got the white energy."

Ecstatic at the news Bea put the bowl down and hugs Kol. He welcomes her hug; it wasn't that Bea is not constantly happy. In fact, there is not a day that Kol saw her sad or miserable, but this is the first time Kol saw Bea happy for him and not just the general happy.

"I knew you would get it, after spending all of those times reading those books, I got you from the church." Bea says.

"Yeah. That might be it." Kol says. "I was wondering if you could teach me some white spells that could help me in the future."

Bea thinks for while and Kol was ready for incase she denies his request. After all Bea has already done so much for Kol and the kids, he didn't want to add more work for her.

"I have to ask permission from the church if that were to happen." Bea says. "But it doesn't mean I can demonstrate them for you. Tell you what I'll write down the magic formula for the spells, but I cannot teach how to cast them. You have to figure that out for yourself unless you also want to be to the monastery for training."

"Thank you, Bea." Kol gives her another hug before running out of the kitchen.
