Chapter 25 - Dao of Life

As he was walking, he stopped thinking about his path and decided to focus on his comprehension of the dao. He reviewed the 2 dao he comprehended today and sought to understand them further. It was the first time he comprehended more than one dao in a day.

The process of comprehending the dao was an enjoyable process to him, one that he could do as he strolled around admiring the scenery of the world, one that he could paint with, one he could tell a story with.

Before he knew it, he had arrived at the martial arts arena. A lot of students were there training. Some were sparring, some were practicing their techniques.

Just as he was about to find a spot to sit, someone walked up from behind him. It was a girl. She looked quite beautiful, even drawing the attention of all the students in the arena.

Mo Shen turned to look at her with his indifferent eyes. The moment he set his eyes on her, he revealed a rare expression of surprise.

Of course it wasn't for her beauty. She, like Mo Yu had a supreme physique and had high affinity to a supreme dao, the Dao of Life. Although it seemed like her dao seed was very close to explosion, her body still seemed full of vitality. It was most likely due to her physique of life.

People with the physique of Life were very rare, not because they were hardly in existence, but because they never came out. If a cultivator with the physique of Life is refined into a pill, it can prolong lifespan by at least 10,000 years and greatly increase vitality.

It meant that even if the cultivator has not started cultivating, if they were refined into a life pill, they would increase the lifespan of any cultivator by 10,000 years with renewed vitality. The amount of lifespan they could improve increased with their cultivation.

If it was someone with the physique that had comprehended the Dao of life, they could increase a cultivator's lifespan by up to a million years. Of course at that point there was already a limitation. The cultivator with the physique of life has to be willing if not, no one will be able to extract their life essence into a pill even if you kill them.

The girl was standing just a little in front of Mo Shen, facing him a smile. "My name is Mo Tianxing." She introduced.

Mo Shen recalled the beauty list his mother told him. Mo Tianxing was the 4th ranked beauty in the Dao Universe. She was also the number one beauty in the academy among the students. She had light green hair that exuded vitality and green eyes that brimmed with life.

The girl was standing just a little in front of Mo Shen, facing him a smile. "My name is Mo Tianxing." She introduced.

Mo Shen recalled the beauty list his mother told him. Mo Tianxing was the 4th ranked beauty in the Dao Universe and the grand-daughter of the academy's dean. She was also the number one beauty in the academy among the students. She had light green hair that exuded vitality and green eyes that brimmed with life She was truly a beauty second only to his aunt in the academy.

"Miss Tianxing, good day. I am Mo Shen." Mo Shen introduced himself with a light smile.

He already had a good impression of her just from how she was the only female other than his aunt who didn't seem mesmerized by his beauty or feel the slightest bit of attraction to him even for a moment. To him, it showed her extraordinary mental strength and maturity. Even the few instructors that felt mesmerized just for a moment were put off by him subconsciously.

One could argue that he had too much bias, but what could he do? His standards were just too high.

"Ohh! You seem different from the rumors. I didn't expect a smile." Mo Tianxing said as she observed Mo Shen. She had indeed expected the cold face sh heard about. "I know how beautiful I am, but I know your different reaction isn't from that."

"I guess I am like that. I hardly pay attention to things like that when more important things are on my mind. Just think of it as someone at the peak of beauty only acknowledging those who doesn't see that mountain as anything impressive." Mo Shen replied honestly.

It was the first time he had spoken to anyone more than necessary other than his family and Mo Fan. Even his aunt who he acknowledged didn't receive that privilege. Though hers' was a different case.

His aunt, Mo Qianyue seemed to be a chosen one filled with luck and oppurtunities, finding a mine with billions of dao stones. Just what are the odds. To others it might seem as a good thing, but to Mo Shen, she was a pawn that the world wanted to control, and he didn't want to be too close to the pawn lest he gets influenced and the world turns eyes on him.

But now things were clearer to him, he was no longer pursuing some useless throne. His dao was boundless, to accommodate everything, how could he disregard his aunt just because some weak world saw her as a pawn. She was his family, and he was going to make it right with her later on.

Back to the present, Mo Tianxing laughed at Mo Shen's unconscious narcissistic remark. "If I didn't know better, I would think you're one proud prince who thinks the world should be amazed just by his face alone."

"And how would you know better?" Mo Shen asked without any change in expression, ignoring how 'half-right' she was.

He was indeed a prince, a proud one maybe, but one that was proud of his dao, not his face.

"I just know." Mo Tianxing said in a mysterious way, not revealing anything to which of course Mo Shen didn't care much.

He only had a good impression of the other party not that he was interested in her or anything of the such.

"Anyway to what do I owe your attention?" Mo Shen asked her casually, albeit a bit curiously.

"Straight to the point I see." Mo Tianxing's face turned serious, looking so different from the previous playful demeanour she had on a few seconds ago.

"I heard about your painting class, about Mo Yu. He is my cousin, although it is not widely known, but we are close." She paused for a moment to check for any reaction from Mo Shen, but disappointed she was, although not surprised. She had probably expected no reaction from him.

"I know a bit about his condition, and I know how similar we are. No one knows, but I might even die earlier than him. I feel my condition is a bit worse than his. It's just my intuition, so there's no certainty to the claim."

She examined Mo Shen's face once more. She had dropped more surprising information, surely the man would be shocked, or be compassionate, or even the slightest bit curious? Hell no! If he wasn't looking in her direction, she would have thought he wasn't listening to her.

An awkward silence formed between them for over a minute. At least she was the only one feeling awkward. Mo Shen didn't feel much, he was rather waiting for her to finish what she was saying. Was she expecting him to feel pity for her or to be surprised. He just needed her to tell him what she wants from him, though it wasn't as if he didn't have an idea of what that might be.

"Haighh!" Mo Tianxing sighed in frustration. "Talking to you really shortens my lifespan."

Mo Shen smiled wryly. What was she expecting of him?

"I'm sure you know, so please tell me about my condition. And please tell me if you can and how to resolve it." Saying so, she cupped her hands and bowed fully for a minute, waiting for him to stop her.

Mo Shen didn't do anything to stop her from bowing. Although it didn't matter much whether she bowed or not, as he was still going to tell her what she wanted to know, it made him have a better impression of her. Her bowing reflected her sincerity and respect to him. Although it also portrayed how much she was afraid of dying, but who wanted to die?

And for her sincerity, Mo Shen had decided he will tell her all about the dao like he did Mo Fan and he would make sure that he gives her a painting to comprehend her dao, like he did Mo Yu. He would also give her the best insight he could on cultivation helping her to have no bottlenecks before the Origin Dao realm.
