Chapter 16 - Royal Demon Academy

When he left his room, he saw his parents in his courtyard. "Shen'er, are you okay?" His mom ran to hold him, checking him out for any signs of injuries or discomfort. He immediately came to rest after he left the Small Crystal World, so his mom assumed he was injured.

"I'm fine mom." Mo Shen gave her a reassuring smile. He saw Yanxue running to him in small steps.

She was a little over a year old, so it was not strange she was already walking. Mo Shen himself started walking at 6 months, so he didn't feel it particularly shocking. It seemed like the energy had strengthened Yanxue's body quite well even when it's only about 2% of it that had been refined to her body.

Mo Shen carried her and sat down at a table with his parents. He explained what happened with Mo Yanxue to them without hiding anything. He allowed them to process it for a while.

Although Gu Xian'er and Mo Wudi were worried, they didn't comment much on it. They knew how hard it was on their son, so they didn't want to add to his worries.

"Son, do you want to go to the Royal Demon Academy?" Mo Wudi asked his son. "If you still want to go, you should prepare well, it's beginning day after tomorrow. And you will be boarding there for a year."

"I want to go there, but why is it boarding?" Mo Shen complained. "And besides, I will be going to meet my fiancee in a year, so I can only stay there for up to 6 months."

He was initially looking forward to going to the academy so he could learn a lot of things. He needed knowledge on every other thing other than Martial knowledge. Although he had gotten the memories of top entities, they were not too detailed, and only served to make him more curious about everything.

He wanted to learn alchemy, artifact refining, acupuncture, and every other thing in the world of cultivation. It could also strengthen his dao foundation.

And the Demon Academy was the best place to go. Although the instructors there would not be as powerful as he was, they undoubtedly had more knowledge in their various field.

"That is how it has always been." Mo Wudi explained. "If you really don't want to sleep there, I can grant you special permission. But in so doing, you will be well known in the Academy, and I'm sure you want to stay low-key there without even exposing your status, since no one has actually ever seen their prince."

Mo Shen smiled sheepishly. "Dad, you know me best. But I will be coming back once in a while. If I am not allowed, I can always teleport here. I still need to oversee your training before I go to the Ancient God Empire."

"Let me tell you about the academy." Mo Wudi started. "The academy was established 3 million years ago, by one of the former emperors of the Eternal Demon Empire. It was established to create a greater force and find hidden talents for the empire."

"There are 2 academies in the empire, the Royal Demon Academy and the State Demon Academy. The Royal Demon Academy is for the royal family, and other top officials of the empire. Even ordinary people can enter it, but the requirements for them are quite strict, including having good talent and money."

"The state demon academy can be entered by anyone in the empire. The top student each year will be sent to the Royal academy. The treatment of the Royal academy is obviously better than the State one with better facilities, teachers, and resources."

"The 2 academies are divided into 2. Those below 1,000 years and those above 1,000 years. They stay in different places and are taught differently. Once one reaches 1,000 years of age, they'll be sent out of the academy for different missions if they haven't reached the Immortal Soul realm. For the Royal academy they should have reached the 7th stage of the Immortal soul realm at the very least."

"That will be at least 80% of them. It is the academy's way of flushing out excess students, and at the same time making the students to work harder. Once they are sent on missions, they lose the resources of the academy and are only students in name. The rule was set by the present dean of the Royal academy."

"The dean of the Royal academy is Mo Jingshuang. He is in the 5th stage of the Empyrean realm. He had also created a rule that the bottom students will be sent out of the academy."

"Since you will only be staying there for 6 months, try to learn as much as possible in the fastest time possible. The best way will be to apply for all the classes possible. Different classes are taken once a week."

"There are 54 classes taken in a week. There are 30 classes recommended for students in the first 100 years of their stay there, and 24 classes for those that have been there for 100 - 1000 years. Each student is advised to take 12 classes each. The minimum number of classes you can take is 8. Each class is 3 hours."

"The best thing is that none of the classes clash with the other. So it's possible for someone to do all the classes, but the maximum number of classes a student has taken in the academy is 20. The 30 classes for the fresh students are usually held during the day time, and the other 24 classes are held at night time."

"How many martial arts classes are there?" Mo Shen asked.

"There are 14 courses for martial arts. 8 of them are for cultivation, the other 6 are for martial techniques training." Mo Wudi replied him.

"Then I'll take the other 40 classes and 4 of the martial arts techniques classes. 44 in total." Mo Shen said without hesitation. "That will give me an average of 5 hours each day. Although there might be some days that I will be packed up."

"The day that I have the longest break, I will be coming home on that day every week." Mo Shen decided.

2 days later, Mo Shen came to enroll into the Royal Demon Academy. Nobody in the academy, not even the dean, was aware of his identity. Each member of the royal family that was enrolling needed to bring a letter of recommendation with proof of identity as a member of the royal family.

Mo Wudi gave Mo Shen a simple recommendation letter which could be considered average. There were 6 grades of the recommendation letter with 1st grade being the highest. Mo Shen had a 4th grade letter. And his proof of identity was very simple, it didn't contain his true identity.

He wanted it this way, to be low-profile, so he could have time for his classes and also travel back home conveniently regularly without any disturbances.

Although Mo Shen wanted to keep a low-profile, but that didn't mean the world would just let him do as he pleased. What part of him wasn't eye-catching? His long white hair mixed with streaks of golden colour like the son that reached the back of his lower legs and was left loose? His well constructed face that was unmatched in the 9 Heavens? His cold golden eyes that could make even the boldest of men unable to meet his eyes? His well fitting golden robe that could make the royal uniform look ordinary?

His eyes were initially golden, and only when he wants to use their power that the right one will turn blue or the red one will turn red according to the situation.

He sort of knew this was going to happen, but he would never allow it to disturb him. He wasn't going to change himself or his looks just to keep a low-profile. He was his own pride, and nothing could change him. At most he would just kill a few people that overstepped their bounds as a warning to others if he couldn't keep a low-profile again.

What made him more eye-catching was the few people that were enrolling. There were only 20 of them, 12 women and 8 men. The academy recruited students every 5 years, and most of the youths in the royal family were already in it. This was not the usual admission time and only students from the State Demon Academy and other special students were getting enrolled today, so there were only these few people.

After his identity had been checked, a few ladies ran up to him. "Let us bring you around the academy seeing as you're a new student." One of the girls said.

"We can also bring you to register your courses." Another one chirped in.

One other girl was about to hold his hand and take him around when Mo Shen left their midst in a flash. "There's no need to trouble the few senior sisters, I can find my way around."

Immediately after talking, he continued on his way without waiting for their reaction. His father had already shown him a detailed layout of the academy, so he basically knew almost every part of it.

"Junior brother wait." The girls called out to him and hastened their steps to catch up with him.

Annoyed by this, Mo Shen turned around as a cold warning light flashed past his golden eyes.

The girls heart turned cold, and their bodies shivered from the coldness that they saw within Mo Shen's eyes. They immediately halted their steps and looked down, not daring to look up until Mo Shen had disappeared from their view. Even after that, they didn't even dare to talk about it, they just went back to their posts.

Mo Shen felt neutral about their reaction. His golden eyes were originally cold looking, and it was only when he was with his family that you could see emotion from them. His mother had told him that his eyes were too cold, so he decided to try adding emotion to them. But seeing today's reaction, he had steadied his mind not to make any changes to himself. Seeing his cold eyes, not many people would find trouble with him.

He walked straight to the Students' Hall where he was going to register himself.

On the way, he caught the attention of a lot of students, mainly because of his face and hair. They were all attractive to nearly everyone. He could hear a lot of low tone comments about him.

"Who is this man that is so handsome?" A girl at the side said as she admired Mo Shen.

"He should be part of the direct royal family."

"I also think so. Who else can have such good genes?"

"I doubt that. Look at his beautiful white and golden hair, it's not like the royal family. The direct line of the royal family are usually characterised by their dark red hair."

"He might be a handsome bastard, or an adopted son. You never know." A jealous boy chirped in.

"But what is his cultivation level, I can't tell. Can you guys tell?" One boy spoke with curiousity.

When Mo Shen got to the hall, he saw that it was quite packed. He had previously learnt from his father that this was where students took missions and gained merit points.

In the academy, merit points were very important, they were used for basically everything in the academy other than taking classes. Even eating required points. They were mainly used to access various cultivation resources like spiritual crystals, spirit stones, pills among others. In addition, they were used to cultivate in some special places in the academy. They could also be used to access the library and borrow books, be it cultivation techniques or other kind of scrolls.
