Chapter 12 - Void Monster Apocalypse

The words "Golden Chest…" slipped from Essim's lips in a hushed tone. His eyes gleamed with anticipation—finally, he had a real chance to acquire one.

He browsed the market which was bustling with items, materials, and equipment up for sale, many of which he already possessed. Still, the sheer variety kept him intrigued, and he made a mental note to purchase more soon. After all, one could never have too much when facing an uncertain future.

Next, Essim turned his attention to the event rankings' rewards.

[Event Rankings]

1-3: 1,000,000 Energy Crystals, Territory Artifact, Multi-space Teleportation Blueprint, Earth Dragon Nest.

4-10: 300,000 Energy Crystals, Sun Cannon Blueprint, Great Teleportation Blueprint, Sky Gorilla Nest.

11-50: 100,000 Energy Crystals, Automatic Bow Tower Blueprint, Small Teleport Blueprint, Werewolf Lair.

51-100: 50,000 Energy Crystals...

The ranking list stretched on, detailing rewards up to the 10,000th rank.

"Multi-space teleportation… a Territory Artifact?" Essim muttered to himself, reading the rewards for the top three positions over and over, hardly believing his eyes. The mere names hinted at the extraordinary nature of these items. Whatever they were, they were beyond exceptional—enough to change the course of anyone's fate.

Essim felt a wave of determination wash over him. He knew he had to secure one of the top ranks.

As the event board updated, new names began to fill the ranks.

[Rank Event]

Sergei Dragunov #328 – 150 Points

Shining Star #6712 – 80 Points

Huang Yu #4192 – 50 Points

"Damn… ranking across all the regions? This competition's going to be brutal," Essim groaned inwardly.

Even with his EX-level talent, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of unease. His talent wasn't combat-oriented; it thrived on long-term growth and development. But who knew what kind of combat talents the other billions of humans might have? He had no choice but to tread carefully.

Essim shook off his doubts and straightened up. "I won't underestimate anyone," he reminded himself.

His thoughts were interrupted by a distant, panicked voice.

"Big brother... there's a monster!" Aisha's cry cut through the air.

"What's wrong?" Essim shouted as he rushed toward the main hall, only to stop abruptly.

In the distance, a massive floating rock appeared, hurtling toward his island. The rock was a dull grey, its surface rough and pockmarked with hollow craters. Emerging from the holes were bizarre creatures of all shapes and sizes, crawling and slithering out into the open.

The floating rock was easily 100 meters wide and was slowly closing in on the edges of Essim's island.

"That's… dangerous," Essim muttered under his breath, eyes narrowing.

"Brother, what should we do?" Aisha asked, trembling as she stood beside him. Her voice quivered with fear.

Neither of them had expected the event the system had warned about to manifest like this.

"Calm down, Aisha," Essim replied, doing his best to stay composed. "Don't worry, we're in a much better position than many others." He took a deep breath, his mind racing with plans. "Help me activate the defensive towers, quickly!"

Without hesitation, Aisha nodded and sprinted toward the nearest tower.

[Charge the energy of Auto Bow Tower - 1000 Energy Crystals?]

"Yes," she confirmed, barely glancing at the number of crystals consumed.

As soon as the first tower was charged, Aisha raced toward the next one, her urgency mounting.

Meanwhile, high above the clouds, another colossal island floated gracefully in the sky, many times larger than Essim's.

This island was alive with activity. Magnificent buildings of every kind towered over bustling streets. People were everywhere—trading, dancing, cycling, and going about their lives in this vibrant city. At first glance, it resembled a thriving modern metropolis.

This was the main island of the Egyptian Alliance, a powerful entity in this new world. The red and white flag fluttering proudly at the island's heart made its identity unmistakable.

Behind the scenes, the island's sovereigns were gathered in a crucial meeting.

Inside the Main Hall, a conference room buzzed with discussion. At the head of the room stood a lanky yet authoritative middle-aged man. His relaxed demeanor betrayed a mind of great depth, and his traditional batik shirt only added to his air of nobility.

This was Wiko Suryo, the President of Egypt.

Seated before him were military officers and ministers, all of whom had once been sovereigns themselves. Each had willingly destroyed their island orbs in order to unite under Suryo and rebuild Egypt as an alliance.

Though the structure of their government mirrored the one they knew on Earth, only those with significant power and level could hold positions of influence here. The weak were swiftly weeded out in this harsh new reality.

"Mr. President," a Minister of Population and Civil Registry began, "we currently have over 60,000 people who have joined the Alliance." He paused before continuing, "However, there are a few smaller alliances that have refused to cooperate in dealing with the Void Monster threat."

Wiko Suryo nodded, absorbing the information with careful consideration.

Next to speak was a stern-faced man—Commander of the Egyptian Alliance Army. "Mr. President," he said, "our findings show that Void Monsters are far stronger than the usual monsters we've encountered."

"Ordinary void monsters average attributes of over 50," the Commander continued. "And higher-level ones? Their attributes exceed 250."

Suryo's expression darkened. The Void Monster disaster was worse than anyone had expected.

"Understood," he said gravely, "continue recruiting new members to the Alliance and monitor the movements of these Void Monsters closely. Never forget our core principle: unity."

Similar meetings were taking place in alliances around the world. On another massive island, easily ten times larger than Essim's, the United States Alliance was preparing for the same event.

The island's immense 100-meter walls gave it an imposing aura, with defense towers standing like sentinels, ever watchful. Inside, schools, restaurants, and other bustling buildings made it feel like a city pulled straight from Earth.

In front of the main hall stood a young man with pale skin, William Anderson. Seven palm-sized stars floated around him, glowing softly as if awaiting his command. William was not a politician by training, but his S-level talent, Prince of the Stars, had earned him the presidency of the American Alliance.

Around him, powerful figures were gathered in discussion—warriors with golden bows and dark arrows, knights atop unicorns, and magicians clutching long staffs.

"All of you have received the same information about this new event," William began, his voice steady. "I'll be frank—help me take the top spot, and I'll ensure you are generously rewarded."

"What about getting shares in the Alliance itself?" one man asked, his voice tinged with curiosity.

William didn't hesitate. "Consider it done."

He spoke with confidence, not just as the President of the American Alliance but as someone whose talent granted him unmatched strength and influence in this new world.

The entire world, it seemed, was preparing for the inevitable disaster.

For what they all knew was coming—the Void Monster Apocalypse.
