Looking out over us with her forever stoic gaze, Foringi 'Hela' lived up to her namesake, the air inside of the bridge seemingly becoming colder the longer she remained quiet, while the blue eyes that she had only continued to bore into our souls.
It took her a few moments to get the bridge to be as silent as she wanted it to be, and the moment that it was she waved her hand and summoned up the holographic projector, showing us the system that we currently were currently occupying.
"As you all are aware, this system - Kapar Delta - is a resource rich, fertile cluster of planets that are desperately desired by both our Ark - the 'Valhalla' - but also from our sister Ark, the 'Pharoh of the Stars' to reinforce this section of space and provide food and materials to the galaxy at large.
To that effect, the priority of securing this system has been at the forefront of Fleet Gullstjarna for some time now, and with the emergence of the Chukanids here in Kapar Delta, it should be of little surprise to hear that a nearby dormant Colony has awoken and is making its way here with immediate haste.
Our deep space radar has pinged hundreds of Uma Class Chukanids carrying thousands of Chukanids each, meaning Kapar Delta is now under dire threat of complete extermination. That is... if we weren't here to stop them."
Foringi 'Hela' moved the map around to show the current trajectory of the incoming Colony, with hundreds of red blips appearing out in the open space outside of Kapar Delta, though the few large blue dots inside of the system gave me hope; there were a few more battleships here than I had remembered, and the woman above continued the debriefing.
"The 'Pharoh of the Stars' has dispatched a few Ankh Battleships to support us after hearing about the emergence of the Colony, and they will be joining us on the frontlines to push back - and hopefully eradicate - this Colony, so that we might rid the stars of another blight.
To that effect, some of our Einherjars will be pulled from Kapar-02 and reassigned immediately to the spatial battlefront; those among you who will be pulled from Kapar-02 will be receiving pings shortly.
With no truly accurate understanding of this Colony's strength, we are preparing for a myriad of strategies to deploy, and forefront amongst them is a spearheaded mech assault on any high priority Uma Class Chukanids. Until the Colony descends upon the system in approximately 72 hours, those Einherjar are to rest up and prepare their mechs for the battle to come.
For the rest of you, we are hastening the war down on Kapar-02 and dispatching our reserve troops to clean up the remaining Chukanids to prepare for the battle at the system's edge. Your superiors will have orders for you within the hour. If you have been pinged, then you are dismissed."
The sound of personal terminals being pinged filled the bridge, so I glanced down at my own and nodded as I saw the notification on the screen; looking around, I saw another dozen or so Einherjar turning to exit the bridge, and among them were Brynhild and Aife, the two women glancing my way as they walked out into the halls of the 'Vessel of Gymir'.
I joined the rest of the Einherjar as I exited the bridge as well, though the moment I stepped outside I couldn't find either of them, Brynhild's very noticeable stature and demeanor not entering my eyes while the assassin did what she did best; disappear.
Before any of my peers could say anything to me, I detached myself from the group and made my way towards my chambers, desiring a moment to rest and wanting nothing more than to clean myself off completely after a long deployment on the planet below.
The corridors of the ship were filled with life as workers and soldiers made their rounds, heading off to do whatever was required of them or to simply go enjoy their momentary break before returning to the bustling hubbub of wartime.
I passed them by without a word and relished the silence as I entered the Einherjar's personal section of the ship, the noise cancellation materials built into the walls ensuring the only noise that we could hear besides what we made ourselves was the ever present hum of the engines.
Entering my chambers, I breathed a sigh of relief as the lights flickered on, revealing the small yet cozy room that I had all to myself; a single bed pressed against the wall with an arm mounted projector resting above it, tables and chairs that allowed for company, a small kitchenette and storage of all kinds.
One of my walls was laden with extra weaponry of all kind, but the most important three hung around the mirror door that led into the bathroom, and the moment I saw myself in the mirror I had to let out another sigh.
My long black hair was plated with grease and sweat, my pale skin marred by dirt and small cuts while the skintight black bodysuit was seemingly unblemished, though I knew better than to check my suit for damage; it was the power generator that needed to be looked at.
For now though, I detached the generator and placed it on its charger before staring at my body in the mirror, my eyes roaming over my lithe curves before focusing on the somewhat rare purple irises that set me apart from my peers.
Some called me beautiful, others called me a freak, but no one could dispute that my appearance wasn't of the descendants of the 'Valhalla', and to me that was all that mattered; though while my visage might have bothered a few, it was the lower half of me that was a tad more controversial...
Namely, the duality of humanities genitalia that was hidden beneath the skintight black bodysuit, though after I undid the belt and removed the various pouches, the outline of a phallus was visible... something that seemed to still spark some varying emotions in everyone that ever managed to get that close to me.
