[Ghost Index]
[Name: Lady Jane. Spirit Type: Second-Level. A proper lady who died after embarrassingly tripping down the stairs. She does not like being a ghost so she spends all her time sleeping in a locket which she attaches herself to. Ability: Puppeteer]
It had been a few days since the haunted house and leave it up to Belle to feel bored again. It wasn't like he asked to be bored but once you start spending all your time in stressful situations you get used to the adrenaline rush that comes with it. He had already opened the weapon box revealing a new and shiny…gun. He got a fucking gun, is something like that even allowed? Belle had no idea so he just checked the description.
[The Demonic Gun is a powerful weapon with the ability to incinerate any spiritual existence within its path, running on the emotions of its wielder to supply it bullets, the stronger the emotion the stronger the bullet. Can exorcize any ghost if they get hit with a bullet but the gun is not as easy to wield as one might think.]
It seems like the gun is harder to use than expected, Belle knows he has to take stock of everything he has, if he doesn't remember to use half of the weapons and abilities he has he might end up biting the dust like an idiot. What better way to test your mettle than to directly fight a ghost while getting rewards, so he turns his eyes to the next side mission available.
[The Shower Ghost]
[A woman loved her husband very much, but a few years after they were married he was acting suspiciously. The woman did a little digging and quickly found he was cheating on her, she was upset but didn't say a word for fear of losing him. One day she came home and caught them in bed, she wasn't prepared for the other woman to grab a knife and chase her. The woman ran to the bathroom and locked the door, hiding behind the shower curtain. It wasn't long before the other woman broke through and stabbed her to death. Her last moments were filled with pain and resentment toward her husband and the other woman, but more importantly, herself, for allowing it to go on. A few years later, the other woman was taking a shower and after closing her eyes she suddenly felt the water turn to hair. The police found her body the next day, strangled to death in the shower. Do you accept this mission?]
[Yes] [No]
He takes a second to stare at the [Yes] button, memories of what happened last time flash in his head. It's not like every mission is the same, but he needs to tread with caution. He needs to remember that ghosts are fucking dangerous and could easily kill him, a fact he seems to forget all too often. With his finger slightly shaking, he lightly clicks on the button, the mission details popping up soon after.
[Stand under hot and running shower water with your eyes closed for ten minutes to summon the spirit, then, release her from her suffering.]
The mission is a bit different this time, most of the side missions have been unbeatable ghosts that he just needs to survive against, butt his one almost seems to take pity on the ghost. But that opens a whole can of worms Belle doesn't want to get into right now. Stuff about why the system was made and who made it. While thinking all this, Belle grabs the camera, heads to the bathroom, and promptly realizes the mission requires standing underwater. He doesn't want to get his clothes wet, but he also can't prance around naked. So he heads to his room and puts on a bathing suit and a T-shirt he doesn't mind getting wet. Then he finally enters the bathroom and starts his stream.
"Hello! I'm back after a few days, and today we will be summoning a shower ghost. I'm sure most people here have seen movies where the protagonist is taking a shower and then, suddenly, something grabs onto them! Well, I'm going to summon one for us right now, I wanted to try out a few things to see if they work." His introduction has gotten more fluid. He doesn't interact much with his fans, he's an extroverted person, but talking to people like this has always weirded him out a bit. He honestly doubted whether people even appreciated the content, but they must, because he received a call yesterday from David saying that they've received a ton of business since then. He's interrupted from his thoughts by a notification.
[CatSnugglz donated $20: I just wanted to say I love your content and am looking forward to more streams!]
The message puts a smile on his face and he hurriedly thanks the user, Belle isn't someone who has self-doubt often, but it gets to him just like everyone else. He's grateful that people enjoy the stuff he does. He steps in the shower and turns on the water, making sure it's hot but not scalding. He sets a timer with his phone and closes his eyes, standing under the shower head, water running down his body. While standing there he gets slightly bored so he decides to talk to his viewers for once. Saying stupid shit about his favorite color and other such nonsense, eventually, he trails off into silence. He's getting a bit dizzy just sitting there with his eyes closed, wondering how much longer, it is honestly a type of torture for him. That's when the alarm finally goes off, the sound cutting through the air as he opens his eyes. The lights in the bathroom have gone dark leaving him with only the steady glow of his phone as the alarm continues ringing. In front of him, slightly illuminated, is a figure. A warm breeze splays across his face and a subtle breathing noise is coming from directly in front of him. That's when Belle realizes he is face to face with a ghost, in the shower…instead of fear he just gets slightly uncomfortable. The alarm turns off and it plunges the room into darkness as the phone goes with it.
"Uhm, hello?" He tries talking to the ghost in front of him, bringing his hand up to wave, or…he tries. But his hand is stuck, not moving from his side, and that's when he feels something around his wrists, aaaaand his legs, and his neck. Ohhhh that can't be good. He feels himself being lifted into the air by his wrists, the stuff around his legs keeps him from grabbing onto a foothold as the stuff around his neck tightens, choking him. Okay, this kind of sucks, but it's fine. He first uses the new ability he gained, instantly, the stuff around his neck, legs, and wrists just stops. He uses that chance to use the [Ghost Walk] ability and he just kind of, slips, out of his restraints.
"I didn't think that would work." He mumbles. Using the precious seconds he has he quickly grabs the gun from the system. It looks like something out of a fantasy game, red and black with what looks like…teeth? Adorning the gun, there's a black spiral design around the whole thing, but he doesn't have much time to analyze it as his time runs out and he points the gun at the ghost. Right, how did this work? Emotions…okay. He thinks of something that made him really angry, his ice cream cone, newly bought, falling after some asshole ran into him and didn't apologize. Yeah, that should work, and as he thinks that, the gun in his hands becomes almost…heavier…like there's some weight to it now. Without any hesitation, he shoots and misses spectacularly. It shoots out a red bullet, but the gun's recoil sends it flying through the ceiling somehow, and the ghost is now glaring at him. He can feel it even in the dark, he can kind of see it too, as his eyes adjust. She's floating in the shower, her head turned toward him, and the hair, there's hair everywhere. That must be what held him up, which, fucking gross. He ditches the gun, it's completely useless to him and he's tried pretty much everything new, so he grabs out his trusty axe.
"Right, let's finish this." He states confidently, swinging the axe at the ghost woman. He's gotten much better at using it, the strikes are more calculated. But the ghost woman brings up a clump of hair, the axe slices right through it but doesn't reach her. He does notice the miasma in the hair disappearing, and his axe seems to have a darker aura around so he assumes the axe's ability is working just fine.
"Hm, should I try it out then?" He questions absolutely nobody. The ghost woman growls, which is strange since she should be able to talk, did she lose her voice or something? Nope, focus, questions later. He refocuses and as the ghost woman launches herself and her hair at him, Belle swings the axe out, trusting his gut, and from the axe sweeps a blade of dark miasma, cutting through anything in its path. The hair is chopped and the ghost woman's body is split in half.
"KRAAAAGHHH!" The ghost woman lets out a cry of pain and Belle runs up to her, placing a hand on her head. In the dark, he stares into her eyes, they're filled with tears. She's in pain and lonely, being a ghost probably isn't pleasant. She stares back at him, her cries changing to whimpers, and she seems to lean into his touch. Belle lets out a slight gasp of shock, the tense, almost emotional scene in front of him is baffling. She was just trying to kill him a moment ago, this must be what the system meant. In an act of pity or comfort, he doesn't know, he rubs her head before choosing to exorcize her. Instead of the usual flames and pain, her body disappears in a wave of gentle light. The bathroom lights flicker back on, Belle shakes his head, he needs to get back on track. He turns off the shower and turns off the stream. He numbly collects the mission rewards, the only thing on his mind is who made the system. What did they make it for? Its main goal is to exorcize ghosts, but is that really it? Is there some bigger goal or mystery to this? He stares at the old camera, maybe he stared a bit too hard but a flash of pain suddenly rushes through his head. Whatever, he can think about this more tomorrow.
