High above the urban battlefield, Kieran crouched on a narrow ledge, his sniper rifle pressed firmly against his shoulder.
His scope swept methodically across the chaos below, locking briefly onto Simir, who was charging Jason with fists glowing molten hot.
"Hold still, damn it," Kieran muttered, adjusting his aim. His breathing slowed, his focus narrowing to the tiniest detail.
His finger hovered over the trigger.
This first shot was going to change the tide and win them this battle, it had to be perfect.

A sudden gust of wind kicked up debris around him. Before Kieran could fire, a blur shot into his peripheral vision.
