The serene pink blossom cherries surround a building year-round on top of the peaceful hill; this was the location of the Ye Family estate. It filled a respectful atmosphere in the air here with peaceful silence perfect for the most honorable family in the area.
Among everything, Qing Ye sits in the family secret cultivating chamber inside which gentle gleam from the spiritual crystals inserted at each point into walls enlightens the sliver body.
Her mother, Lady Ye Meihua, sat beside her with her legs crossed in front of her, looking powerful and proud. She could give off a feeling that was a quiet strength. Everything she ever did made people respect her, and of course, was perfect in the world of cultivation: unmatched fighter, clever leader, and care-taking protector of the Ye family.
"Qing Ye,' her mother said softly, the voice melodious yet firm. 'You know what is expected of you.'"
Qing Ye bowed her head. Her hair fell on her shoulders. "Yes, Mother. I won't disappoint you," she said.
For a moment, she gazed at Meihua with kindness and some warmth behind the calmness.
"You carry the family's history in your body, child. All our female family members have been very strong and wise. You can be a leader if you increase your spiritual energy as well as that of your mind and heart."
A Path of Perfection
She walked out of the meeting hall into the courtyard of the estate, cool evening air caressing her skin gently. She had a lot to think over in her head. The words from her mother weighed on expectations but urged her to try to do her best.
She looked out at the horizon, where the sun dipped below orange and gold. "To head the Ye family," she whispered to herself, "I have to be stronger than any of the strongest. And it has to be not only in strength but in character."
Her fists engulfed her hands. She was proud of her family, and yet the pressure to continue the legacy of the family was great. Her mother reached the highest level of cultivation with reverence throughout the land, so Qing Ye strongly wanted to try to match her mother's accomplishments and do better.
"I will work harder," she vowed, voice strong. "I will improve on every skill, learn every style, and become a leader who deserves the Ye name."
Training in Isolation
Qing Ye made her way to the quiet training place at the back of the estate, meant for advanced practice.
The place was enormous and covered by tall bamboo that swayed softly in the wind.
Nobody would disturb her as she perfected the art.
She started with her special move, the Petal Dance. Spiritual energy surrounded her as shining, otherworldly petals appeared, spinning in a beautiful pattern. The petals moved with care, and their edges were sharp enough to cut through steel.
She moved with a fluid motion, and her steps were light as she made the petals circle around her. Sweat was glistening on her forehead, but she continued. "Focus," she said softly, her voice calm even though it was hard. "If I can get this right, I'll be one step closer.
She thrust her hands forward very fast, and the petals flew through the air. They blew up a line of practice dummies to smithereens before they dissipated in the wind.
Her chest was heaving with breathing, though a tiny smile crept onto her lips. "Better. But not enough.".
A Time to Think
The appearance of the stars in the sky, Qing Ye sat beneath a majestic sakura tree, inhaling slow breaths as if meditating. She could vividly imagine her mother, standing before a whole room of people, who bowed down humbly.
"Power alone isn't enough," Qing Ye thought to herself. "My mother always says that real strength comes from how you use it. I need to grow my spirit as well as my energy."
Her thoughts were lost when an elder cousin, Ye Lian, approached close to her and poured hot tea from a pot.
You are still practicing?" Lian asked, putting the pot down next to her.
Qing Ye nodded. "I don't have time to waste, anyway. Eldenwood Academy exams are coming soon. I need to prepare.".
Lian smiled slightly while pouring her a cup. "You are already one of the strongest in the area, Qing Ye. Don't overexert yourself."
Qing Ye shook her head, a mutiny in her eyes. "It's not just the exams, Brother," she said. "It's the future. If I am ever to lead this family, then I must be perfect.".
Lian sighed but smiled fondly. "You are just like your mother, relentless. But do not forget to take care of yourself. Even the strongest swords can break if pushed too far.".
Invisible Eyes and Silent Whispers
Behind the nearby building, two persons were watching her. One was an elderly person belonging to the Qing family. His face was both proud and worried. The other was some faceless person in his cloak.
"She is incredible," the older man whispered, his voice nearly inaudible.
Yes, it is exceptional, said a hooded figure mysteriously, "But is she prepared?
He paused, looking toward Qing Ye as she continued to train, her movements showing a strength that was simply based on pure willpower. "She will be. She must be."
He said nothing. The figure in the cloak continued to stare at Qing Ye for a few more moments before turning and disappearing into the shadows.
A Mother's Watchful Eye
Qing Ye was not aware that Lady Ye Meihua was personally observing her.
Her eyes were filled with a blend of pride and concern.
She's working harder than I thought, Meihua said quietly. "But perhaps that's just what the future leader of this family has to do.".
She sighed, turned, and walked away. She walked in silence down the stone path. "Qing Ye, being a leader is very difficult. I hope that you have the strength for it—and the wisdom to go seeking help when you need it.".
The spiritual energy was shining brighter than ever at the Ye family's training grounds while night grew darker.
It shows how strong Qing Ye's will is.
Whoever becomes the head of the Ye family will take up any means to acquire that perfection she so badly wishes for.
