Chapter 4 - The Hidden Power

As the bedlam shook about them, the snake's malice coiled into sharp, strangling twists of air, but below, much deeper down, there was something stirring within the innocent child Toru. Muffled in his mother's clasping arms, the dancing light that encircled him pulsed with rhythmic beat to a power that lay dormant since the world's creation. And they could not know how deeply, within the child they had been pointing at as the cause of their sorrow, a transmutation was going on.

Deep in the serpent's mind, a spark flared up at the sight. Not just light escaped from the child; it was something ancient, primal—a force that was echoing across the ages like a distant song. The serpent's glowing eyes narrowed at the feeling of tremor beneath its own bones, a realization both unsettling and eerie in nature, for the child possessed potential that was yet to be tapped. He could wield a power equal to an evil magic that could match its darker side.

Electricity seemed to crackle through the air and a burst of shining light erupted from Toru, so powerful it illuminated the entire valley. Time went flying; it forgot itself in Eldenwood. Villagers stood as statues, petrified in a tableau of fear and determination, fixed eyes on this drama unfolding. The serpent too stopped, coiled tight with tension, as it felt the monumental change taking place in the atmosphere.

As the serpent coiled and struck, its jaws snapping perilously close to Lao Jun, a sudden pulse of energy erupted from Toru, cascading through the air like a wave of pure light. The further it reached the depth of radiance, the more Toru's form began to shimmer, and in the blink of an eye, he transformed. The child faded away, replaced by a colossal figure cloaked in golden radiance. This was not just Toru, but a thing hid within itself: it was like the valor and strength avatar, which was sleeping within him and to be there at the right moment in his life and to come to life.

This new shape stunned the serpent and threw its eyes wide with incredulity. Overpowering force seemed to emanate from the figure, as if infusion with the very heart of the earth had imbued its limbs with aspects of the primeval itself. Tremors writhed through the serpent's bones as, for the first time ever, it felt fear trembling there. "What is this?" it hissed, the voice split by sheer recognition of potential threatening to unravel the darkness. "You are but a child!

But the figure, towering and magnificent, seemed to emanate a likeness of ancient sagacity and strength unbreakable. "I am no child," it declared, its voice rumbling through the valley. "I am the light that conquers despair. I am the bravery born of love and unity, alive to drive back the shadows that stand upon this land.".

The serpent recoiled, its dark heart pounding. Fed on fear, living off the sorrow of the villagers, here stood a power that could erase its existence. The shadows, once dancing around it, receded as if moving away from the sure brilliance filling the air.

The serpent lurching forward spilled its challenge into the air, its jaws now wide enough to suck in the brilliant figure. But Toru, being stimulated by the power within him, lifted his hand. In that rush of energy, the light spurted out like a wave embracing the serpent and wrapping it with tendrils of brilliance.

"I banish you to the depths!" Toru's voice boomed through the earth. "You are darkness that lives on fear, but I am the hope that thrives in the hearts of all who dare to believe!"

The shadows writhed in agony as the light consumed the serpent, burning into its dark being. The creature screamed in anguish as its pleas of fury mingled with the terror of submission as it became overtaken by the irresistible force that proved unstoppable. For every inch gained, the force gained light reawakened and blazed brighter and more powerfully with the motive force behind the hope from the villagers themselves who, for that moment's instance, forgot their fear.

In one last convulsion of brilliance, the serpent was consumed by the light, its tormented cries echoing out into silence. The shadows, that had clung to Eldenwood like a shroud, recoiled upon their tails, to lose themselves in ether, leaving behind only the warmth of hope.

And with the serpent on the very floor, where he had been flung so short a time before, time began to move again, and in stunned silence the villagers looked at the now illuminated cottage. Their hearts, so heavy with despair, began slowly to lift as they realized that a power greater than their fears had emerged from among them, a light by which they were made united in the moment of deep transformation.

Toru finds himself back in his mother's arms, blinks at her innocently and doesn't know at all what has just happened in that battle. what will happen to Eldenwood now? How will they conquer the fear and the tremors they faced? Nobody knows what awaits for Toru! how will the villagers react to that sudden appearance of the giant serpent? yet unaware of who cast it away!
