Chapter 13 - I'm ready, promotion

Tetsuya's team has completed a total of 230 B-rank missions during the time gap. They needed to do extra missions to allow Kimimaro to reach the required 150 missions.

Tetsuya officially became the team leader after He and Yuzume had a serious fight to decide it. Tetsuya won since he had a much stronger physique, chakra and stamina than his opponent. And he also used his sword this time unlike the chunin exam.

After finally beating Magaru fair and square in a one on one battle, Magaru decided to finally recommend them for the jonin exam since you needed a Jonin to vouch for you in order to take the exam.

Even Hirata and Kimimaro were able to mostly stand their ground against Magaru so the team of 4 was now ready to undertake the 10 A-rank mission required.

While the first few missions were going smoothly, they soon received a mission to go to Yugakure in the land of hot water. Apparently a rogue Ninja named Hidan was killing people indiscriminately but since Yugakure was now mostly just a tourist town instead of a full blown ninja village, they decided to hire konoha to deal with him especially since all ninjas they sent after him were killed.

Tetsuya decided to take this mission since he was very familiar with Hidan's power and capabilities.

It would also beneficial for him to pluck the Akatsuki's wings ahead of time.

He previously pondered if he should leak Akatsuki member's information beforehand but then it would force them to act before time and a frontal battle against them would only end badly especially since they had no one to deal with Nagato and Obito.

I won't poke that beehive until I have a way to deal with Obito and Nagato but Hidan isn't in the Akatsuki now so there's no problem with killing him.

Asuma should survive now since I'll deal with Hidan myself.

Before they set off for the mission, Tetsuya told them that if Hidan got their blood, they'll be dead and that he also had an immortal so they shouldn't let their guard down.

Hirata and Yuzume just looked at him doubtfully. Kimimaro just nodded along.

After explaining the Jashin cult to them, the two of them finally accepted the explanation.

While they were curious about the source of information, Tetsuya didn't tell them so they didn't ask.

Arriving at the land of hot water, they soon found Hidan thanks to the Byakugan and planned to probe him by sending shadow clones.

Hidan dispatched the clones after a short fight while smiling widely finding out that he got new sacrifices

After they confirmed Hidan's level, they decided that engaging in close combat wasn't wise so they decided to blast him from afar while constantly pestering him with shadow clones while waiting for an opportunity

Hidan could fight the clones while avoiding the jutsus thrown at him just fine.

But as the fight went on, Hidan was getting angrier and angrier with them.

Soon enough, Tetsuya found a gap and decapitated him swiftly using a combination of lightning chakra mode's speed and lightning chakra infused sword.

They immediately cremated the body afterwards while bringing the head back since they needed it as mission completion certificate.

As soon as the mission was successfully confirmed to be finished, they immediately cremated the head too.

Well, that was easy, I could've probably beaten him even in a solo battle but the easy way is always better.

The other Akatsuki members won't probably go down so easily.

Hidan was just a gimmick fighter so as long as you know his tricks, He's easy to deal with.

They were now done with the promotion tasks and finally became full-fledged Jonin.

At the age of 15, Tetsuya finally became a Jonin.

They also broke up their team since they decided to do solo A-rank missions to hone themselves. While Tetsuya finally decided to enter the Anbu.

He was soon placed into Kakashi's team.

Huh? Wasn't Kakashi supposed to be a jonin sensei at this point? If not, then he should be retired by next year since He should've at least tested two teams before team 7.

Kakashi is such a tragic character isn't he? Except for Gai, All the important person in his life are dead.

But he's still a trash sensei, sultry pervert and the bell test he did is garbage.

He steadily did missions with Kakashi. The missions of Anbu are mostly just A-rank missions so Tetsuya didn't struggle much.

The only noticeable thing that happened during this period is that:

During a mission in Kusagakure, He found Karin. She was just used as a healing machine and she still wasn't a genin so they just locked her in a room most of the time.

While he didn't save her immediately due to fear of diplomatic issues, he had a plan so he first went back to Konoha after finishing the mission.

He decided to consult Kakashi about this and Kakashi accepted probably because his teacher's wife was also an Uzumaki.

After coming back to Konoha, He soon told them about Karin and the reasons and benefits of the rescue.

First of all is that she received inhuman treatment so she definitely want to defect since her mother was already dead and had no fetters to Kusagakure. As long as she was treated well, she would be willing to wholeheartedly become a part of konoha.

She's an Uzumaki so they're supposed to be Konoha even more so, Senju's ally so they had an obligation to save her.

As a pure Uzumaki she could awaken the Adamantine Sealing Chains so could be helpful in controlling the Kyubi and also had Mind's Eye of Kagura so would serve as a great Tracking Ninja.

She could also serve as bond for Naruto since they're from the same clan. And for the last reason, she could serve as a spare jinchuriki.

As the reason were laid, the third Hokage accepted the rescue mission since the gains far outweighed the risks of offending a minor ninja village.

The rescue mission was soon launched and was easily accomplished since Karin was alone without any surveillance most of the time.

Karin didn't resist at all during the rescue mission and was even eager to finally leave Kusagakure.

They soon brought her back to Konoha. And after she had a conversation with the third hokage, Karin was soon settled in Tetsuya's house since Naruto lived there.

She was also transferred into the academy in the same class as Naruto.

While Tetsuya could've quietly saved her once the chunin exams in the main story came by, that was still 3 years away and he couldn't withstand seeing a kid suffering so much for 3 more years.

Becoming a jonin really makes a difference doesn't it? I finally have a say in the village's affairs.

December Year 60 of Konoha.

The end of year soon came around and Kakashi got discharged from Anbu to become a jonin sensei.

And Yamato who was still named Tenzo for now became his new captain.

During this period of time, the only techniques Tetsuya learned was the Clone Explosion since his clones were quite passive once the opponent was on a higher level. And also the Chidori since he got it from Kakashi after they became somewhat friends.

Apparently, He wasn't stingy with his jutsu but he just forgot to turn it in for merits exchange since nobody asked him to.

Also on another note, Rock lee finally became Gai's disciple after seeing him train alone in an empty training ground.
