DAIJA PRESTON
"Hey ENIOLA, over here" I hear a voice I look over to see my cousin JADESOLA, I reluctantly wave back. 'I hate the fact that I am here and I can't do anything about it'. I approach her and she envelopes me in a tight hug. "I'm so happy to see you, it's been years", "Right, and it's been too long". I fake a smile as she led me to a car, she puts my luggage in the boot and we enter the car.
I watched as she converses with the driver and I just swoop through my phone not wanting to call my parents.
I decide to text my sister and brother in our group chat
THREE P's GC
AIYA – Have u landed?
ME – Yeah I'm in a car with JADE
CASSIUS – I thought u were staying with DAMI
ME – I thought so too
AIYA - Mum and dad really messed u up.
ME – Likeeee
CASSIUS – So what's going to happen now?
AIYA – She has to stay in Nigeria till she changes her bad behavior.
ME – Bad behavior?
AIYA – Yes
CASSIUS – So when will we see you again?
ME – Maybe during New Years
CASSIUS – But we are in January!!!
AIYA – Exactly, they are punishing all of us.
CASSIUS – Why?
ME – Because they are cruel.
"We are here!!" A voice pulls me out of my mini- meeting with my siblings.
"Welcome home" JADE says with a wide smile on her face. I looked up to see a modest looking home. It doesn't look like much, but I know never to judge my Big Daddy's house based on the exterior.
We walk into the house and it was surprisingly empty. "Where is everyone?" I ask. " Well mum travelled to the US for a six-month conference and dad travelled to France for a 2 year medical program" she replies so nonchalantly as she takes me to my room. "So they left you alone!!" I exclaim. She turns around at that "Not exactly, my mum's sister is supposed to be here with me but she didn't even show up and the maid is here so I'm not alone".
"Even though, it is still irresponsible of them to do" She just shrugs and continues walking; she stops in front of a room and opens the door to reveal a beautifully decorated room.
"This is your room. Hope you like it."
I step inside and drop my bags in a corner.
