Elara rose from her seat by the window, her movements deliberate yet distracted. Her brows furrowed, and she sighed softly, smoothing the fabric of her dress as though preparing herself for something unpleasant.
Elion, seated nearby, tilted his head slightly, observing her with a curious frown.
"Where are you going, Mother?" he asked, his tone casual, though his sharp golden eyes betrayed his concern.
Elara glanced at him, her expression strained. "I'm going to find Darius," she said. "I need to know if there's more he isn't telling me."
Elion's lips parted as if to respond, but before he could, his sharp hearing picked up something—voices, distant yet urgent, carrying through the stillness of the Vossmer estate.
