Chapter 27: Touring the Countryside
Elysia sat curled up on her couch, wrapped in a soft green blanket, with a mug of hot chocolate warming her hands. Her attention was fixed on the glowing artifact before her, an object resembling a flat-screen television. Unlike ordinary TVs, this device transmitted real-time images from the Primordial Chaos Realm, giving her a high-definition view of its turbulent expanse.
On the screen, a fierce battle played out between a Chaos Knight and a dimensional traveler. Swords clashed, sparks flew, and the ground itself seemed to recoil from their violent exchange.
"Whoa! Holy shit! That was awesome!" she exclaimed, her voice echoing through her cozy home. She took another sip from her mug, her eyes gleaming with excitement as if she were a child watching a favorite action series.
Beside her, a shelf displayed her collection of figurines: a miniature Chaos Knight poised for battle, a robed magician who had once dared to approach her island, and even a tiny rendition of a primordial titan. Each was crafted with care, an homage to the most intriguing figures she had encountered—or observed—over the years.
As the battle on the screen reached its climax, she let out a small sigh. "Ah, man, it's over already? That guy ran off to Midgard. Who knows how long it'll take for someone else to come snooping around?"
With the duel concluded, Elysia stretched, setting her mug down before tidying up the room. The quiet hum of her daily routine followed. She moved to the kitchen, where a cold-magic refrigerator preserved her supplies. After grabbing a few vegetables from her small garden outside, she returned to cook a simple meal. Though a being of immense power, Elysia had chosen to inhabit a semi-mortal incarnation, relishing the small joys of life, cooking, eating, washing dishes doing laundry.
Later, feeling restless, Elysia decided it was time to venture beyond her floating island using some of the incarnations she created. She created a new incarnation, a mortal-like form with subtle traces of her chaos bound essence, she sat down on her couch with a sandwich on hand and she watched through the screen, she felt like she was playing a game and watching a movie at the same time, her incarnation walked out of the house and walked for some time till she reached the edge of the island, there, a small stair leading down to a dock located outside the barrier of the island which the Chaos Lords underlings built.
The dock on the side attached to her island is guarded by ancient chaos knights much deadlier than the ones guarding the ground, they saw her figure appear after passing through the barrier, they immediately knew who it was and immediately knelt, for the first time they saw her but they lack the courage to look up, then they heard her voice, and instantly Relek the Whisperer, one of the Chaos Lords appeared personally.
Relek materialized within moments, stepping into her presence with his characteristic precision. His metallic feathers shimmered like mercury in the dim light, his slender frame exuding both elegance and unease. The faint glow in his silver eyes flickered as he regarded her new form.
"You summoned me, Lady Elysia?" His voice was soft, yet it carried the weight of authority.
"Yes," she replied, her tone detached but firm. "Guide this incarnation of mine to a kingdom outside the Primordial Chaos Realm. I wish to observe… and perhaps experience the mortal lives there."
Relek bowed his head. "As you command."
The Whisperer immediately relayed her orders to one of his underlings, ensuring her mortal form would be escorted safely to the destination.
The journey was swift, their path carved through chaotic winds and dimensions until they arrived at the grand palace gates of a Chaos Realm kingdom outside the primordial chaos domain. Elysia's escort, a loyal yet anxious lieutenant of Relek named Therak, stepped forward. His armor shimmered faintly with chaos energy, though beads of sweat betrayed his nerves. Behind him, Elysia stood poised, her face obscured by a misty veil of chaos. Only her eyes an entrancing blend of emerald green and stormy gray were visible, reflecting her turbulent nature.
The palace guards reacted immediately, their weapons raised as the atmosphere thickened with tension. The officer in charge barked, "IDENTIFY YOURSELVES!"
Therak took a measured breath, stepping in front of Elysia to shield her from the scrutiny. His voice was steady, though his pulse raced. "Please leave this to me, Lady Elysia."
She gave a curt nod, maintaining an air of detached regality. Internally, however, she was panicking. 'What do I do if they ask me something? Am I supposed to just… stand here? Damn, this is harder than I thought!'
Therak addressed the officer, his tone sharp and commanding. "I am Therak, emissary of Lord Relek the Whisperer. I escort Lady Elysia, a guest of importance."
The officer froze, his eyes widening as he processed the name. Lord Relek was a figure spoken of in hushed tones, a being of immense power and influence. The officer's gaze flickered between Therak's imposing presence and the enigmatic figure behind him. Though Elysia's form appeared mortal, the chaos fog surrounding her exuded an undeniable aura of authority what's more Therak is the one speaking in front for her.
"I shall… call upon my lord immediately," the officer stammered, his earlier bravado evaporating.
Before he could move, a suffocating aura filled the courtyard. The palace trembled as the kingdom's Lord appeared, descending in a swirl of dark energy. He bowed deeply, dispersing his guards with a single gesture. Only a handful of trusted aides remained as he approached.
"My apologies for any delay," the Lord of Chaos said, his voice quivering with a mix of respect and fear. "How may I serve?"
Therak, emboldened by the lord's deference, stepped forward. His voice carried the weight of Relek's authority. "This may be out of the blue, but why did you delay responding to my summons? Shall I report this tardiness to Lord Relek?"
The Lord of Chaos stiffened, a wave of dread washing over him. While he ruled his own domain, the power disparity between himself and Relek was an insurmountable gulf. He knelt immediately, his aides following suit without hesitation.
"My deepest apologies," the Lord of Chaos said, bowing lower. "There is no excuse for my failure. Please, grant me mercy."
Therak turned slightly, glancing at Elysia for approval. She felt her stomach churn. 'Why is he looking at me? What am I supposed to say? Ugh, i-i'll just… nod or something!'
Outwardly composed, she gave a regal nod.
Therak allowed a faint smile to curve his lips before returning his gaze to the Lord of Chaos. His tone was cold and exacting. "You are to serve Lady Elysia with the utmost diligence. Her presence here is of great importance, and you are to ensure that no dishonor befalls her or my master, Lord Relek. Do you understand?"
"Yes," the Lord of Chaos replied, his voice shaking. "I will dedicate all my resources to her service."
Therak's voice reverberated with finality. "Good. See that you do."
As the formalities concluded, Elysia found herself escorted into the grand halls of the palace. The guards and aides bowed as she passed, though her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. 'That went… okay?' she mused, glancing at Therak, who walked ahead with unshakable confidence.
The palace was a masterpiece of chaos-forged architecture, with jagged obsidian walls adorned with shimmering veins of energy. Despite her initial nerves, a small thrill coursed through Elysia.
