Chapter 11 - No Longer Worthy

Yan Hong nodded and looked at Yan Qianyi. "My dear, I have some matters to attend to."

"Alright."

Yan Qianyi's gaze swept across the room.

Apart from a few additions, her bedroom hadn't changed much in two years.

It seemed Yan Ruyi enjoyed using the things that once belonged to her.

Everything Yan Ruyi had taken, she would reclaim.

Of course, this did not include Qu Yang.

And as for the things Yan Ruyi had touched, even if she no longer wanted them, they would never be left to her cheaply.

With this thought, Yan Qianyi instructed Xue Ma, "Xue Ma, take everything from the dressing room and let the servants divide them. Anything left, donate it. Also, have the mall send over a couple of outfits in my size, whatever they have."

"Miss, you're giving everything away?"

"Yes."

"But some of those limited edition clothes and bags were gifts from Madam, and even the presents Queen Morris sent you. They're priceless now, impossible to purchase. You used to love them so much."

"It doesn't matter, they're just material possessions, and they're outdated now. I no longer care for them."

Just like Qu Yang—now a thing of the past, no longer cherished.

Xue Ma nodded and raised her voice to the maids in the room. "Did you hear that? Quickly thank the Miss and take the items out to divide."

"Thank you, Miss!"

"Miss is always so generous, unlike that…"

"Ahem!"

The maids, giddy with excitement, almost let slip something they shouldn't have.

Xue Ma, unwilling to keep Yan Qianyi in the dark, hurried the maids out and closed the door before revealing the truth to her.

After listening, Yan Qianyi remained silent, standing dazed by the window.

Xue Ma, thinking she was overwhelmed with sorrow, said tenderly, "Miss, if you're sad, it's alright to cry. Don't hold it in."

But Yan Qianyi simply smiled faintly. "Crying won't solve anything. Tears are for the weak."

The wise, after all, use them as a weapon.

Xue Ma was taken aback.

The Miss she once knew had been a little crybaby, shedding tears at the slightest grievance.

Father and Madam had never even raised their voice to her.

Yet now, the young woman before her seemed to have matured in an instant.

This sudden air of adulthood tugged at Xue Ma's heart.

But how could she know that while Yan Qianyi had only been unconscious in this world for two years, her soul had lived an entire lifetime in another?

She was no longer that naive child.

Nor was she the innocent girl unaware of the world's cruelty.

"Miss, if living here makes you uncomfortable, you could always go stay with the Young Master."

Xue Ma was worried, knowing that the Yan household had a new mistress now, and fearing that the Miss would face many hardships ahead.

"This is my home. I'm not going anywhere."

It was the intruders who should leave.

"Ah…" Xue Ma sighed. "You used to bring Ruyi here to play all the time, and Madam treated her so well. Who would have thought she was Father's illegitimate daughter from outside? I truly feel sorry for Madam, she didn't deserve this."

Hearing this, guilt flooded Yan Qianyi's heart.

She had once brought that disgraceful thing, Yan Ruyi, before her mother's very eyes.

Clenching her fist tightly, Yan Qianyi said, "Xue Ma, you can leave now. The room's almost sorted. I'll rest for a bit."

As Xue Ma opened the door to leave, she overheard the maids whispering outside.

"Who do you think we should listen to now? This household has two Misses."
