Chapter 2 - Have We Seen a Ghost?

"Congratulations to Mr. Mu for winning the beauty with a bid of 800 million star coins!"

"Ah, what a shame, I was just a little short..."

"The Mu family really is as wealthy and extravagant as they say..."

The noise gradually faded, and at last, silence fell.

After a brief pause, a familiar female voice broke the stillness.

It was her best friend, Han Ruyi!

"Mom, are we really going to send Qianyi to the Mu family just like that?"

"Don't worry, I'll keep arranging for her to be injected with the serum. She'll never wake up for the rest of her life. Besides, I've heard that Mu is quite the player. Who knows? He might just play her to death in a few days, and then I'll be free of this burden."

"Ah, after all, we were once friends. Part of me really wanted to let her live."

"Are you foolish? With Yan Qianyi around, do you think we could ever enter the Yan family? Could you change your last name to Yan? Could Qu Yang ever truly be with you? Her death is the best outcome—it'll sever Qu Yang's feelings for her, and only then can he focus on you."

"Qu Yang said he loves only me now. But sometimes I wonder, if I had told Qianyi the truth back then, do you think she would have accepted me?"

"Whether she would accept you or not, I don't know. But what I do know is that as long as she's alive, Qu Yang will never accept you. Stop thinking about such nonsense and get her ready. Let's get her loaded onto the Mu family's car."

The mother and daughter pushed Yan Qianyi out of the room, not noticing the slight movement of her fingers.

The sheer magnitude of what she overheard nearly caused her mind to explode.

All this time, she had believed her coma was due to the accident, that it had trapped her in another world.

Little did she know, Han Yarong had been injecting her with drugs to keep her from waking up.

And in just two short years, her best friend had become her sister!

Her father was now someone else's father.

And even her man belonged to someone else.

Ha, how amusing it all was!

Beneath the veil of night, a luxurious car carried the beautiful bride away from the villa.

Inside, the man in the passenger seat glanced back at the sleeping bride, a wicked smile creeping across his face.

"Shall we have a little fun first?"

The driver was startled. "Brother, she belongs to Young Master Mu!"

"So what? He didn't even bother coming today, clearly, he doesn't care. Besides, she's in a vegetative state. We can do whatever we want—no one will know."

"But she's a woman of the highest quality, an S-class fertility rank. What if she gets pregnant?"

"With your E-class fertility? Even combined with an S-class, I doubt she'd get pregnant."

"Shit! You're just one rank above me—you're not much better. Besides, I heard that as long as you combine with an S-class, no matter how poor your own fertility is, you can still have children."

"Isn't that even better? With our fertility ranks, if we don't find an S-class, we'll never have kids. Now there's one right in front of us. And to top it off, the Mu family will raise the child for us—what a steal!"

"Heh, you've got a point."

"Drive faster and find a secluded spot to pull over!"

Both men wore lecherous grins, eager to savor the prize before them.

Suddenly, a tall figure appeared in the middle of the road ahead.

The figure stood firmly in place, raising a hand to shield against the blinding headlights, revealing a glimpse of a sharply chiseled jawline.

The driver slammed on the brakes, but when he looked again, the figure had vanished.

"Damn it! That scared the hell out of me! Where'd he go?"

"There was no one there! I didn't see anything."

"Did we just see a ghost?"

"You must've been seeing things. Hurry up and drive."

The driver withdrew his gaze and prepared to restart the car, but something felt off behind him.

His eyes instinctively flicked to the rearview mirror, and what he saw made his heart skip a beat.
