Jessica's POV.
An angry red patch glared at us as Annabelle cooled the burn with running water. That was the most we could do at the moment.
"We'll head to the hospital once the pain reduces," Annabelle said. Her face was etched with deep worry.
I clenched my teeth, willing the pain to go away. It stung like crazy. "I think I can manage. I'm not sure the sting will completely go any time soon."
Thankfully, it was a first degree burn. It won't leave a scar.
"Alright. Hold me tight, one step at a time."
I nodded, throwing my arm around her shoulder as we made our way slowly out of the restroom. Every step felt like a jolt of electricity through my body, but I gritted my teeth and kept moving.
My skirt was lifted to avoid brushing against the fragile skin. This was not my first time getting scolded by hot coffee, but this one seemed different. I wouldn't be surprised if the water was maliciously brought to a boil.
