Chapter 5 - 5.Chapter Days befor Departure Part 2 (Thalia)

3 years later, 2019, London

Thalia opened the door and entered her room.

Then, she put her school bag next to her wooden desk, which stood on the left side of the room, between the window and the dressing table, opposite to her bed.

Afterwards, she entered the small room to her left, right next to the dressing table.

A white door with a silver handle leaded inside the room, which was a wardrobe.

Opposite to her another door leaded to her personal bathroom, but she turned right and took out a comfortable light-pink dress.

Then, she changed out of her school uniform, which consisted of a Yale-blue skirt, a white shirt, black tights, black shoes, a Yale-blue jacket and a striped necktie in dark-blue and Yale-blue.

Afterwards, she sighed and started looking around her room, befor she fetched her pink camera, which was a birthday present from her father, and put it into her backpack, wich was already standing next to her schoolbag.

On the right side of the room, next to the door, already stood a fully packed black suitcase.

She had packed it together with Maisie a few days ago.

Inside there clothes and other things she needed for the trip to Nottingham, that she and her family would go on next week.

A glance at the clock hanging in her room told her, that it was already 6 p.m.

Because of school she always only came back home quiet late in the afternoon, and she also had been focused on packing her backpack for the trip afterwards.

Luckily, she had still rememberd to pack her schoolbag for the next day, since it was only Thursday, so she needed to attend school tomorrow one last time, befor the one-week holidays started.

Lost in thought, Thalia looked outside the window.

In that moment, someone knocked at the door and the next moment Maisie entered the room.

"It's already time for dinner, young Miss. Please come down to the dining room.", she said.

Thalia nodded and followed the maid leading the way to the dining room, there her family already waited for her.

Only Rose wasn't there, but she entered the room right after Thalia had sat down.

During the meal, theier father asked:"Are you all looking forward to the trip to Nottingham?"

All of the children nodded, as theier father continued with a smirk:"Then, I'm sure, you are also already excited about the surprise that I have prepared for the trip. I will show it to you, if you behave during the meeting with the Waterflow family scheduled for next Thursday. It's an important meeting, wich includes lunch and tea time and I want all of you to be at your best behavior. As for the other days, we will spend time together as family. Any ideas for places you want to visit?"

Thalias oldest brother, Brandon, raised his hand.

After a nod from theier father, he said:" I would like to visit the National Justice Museum. As a student majoring in law study at the university, I want to see how our country has handled matters of the court in old times. Also, I think it would be quite interesting for the others as well."

"That's a good idea. So we will definitely visit the National Justice Museum once. Other ideas?", Thalias father Reynold answered.

"Then, we definitely need to visit the Victoria Centre. It can't be that we are traveling to another city without going on a shopping tour.", Rose said with a bright smile, while raising her hand quickly.

Theier mother nodded, to support her daughter's words.

"Alright, we will also go on a shopping tour. I have also planned a visit to Nottingham castle and a guide tour through Nottingham. How about it?", Reynold responded.

Thalias mother Rinka nodded again:"That sounds like a good plan. So, we will visit all of these places. On Thursday is the meeting with the Waterflows and on Sunday we will drive back home. Monday is school again, so the children need to sleep early that day."

Brandon rolled his eyes up as he heard those words, since he was already a 20-year-old man and not a child anymore, but all members of the family knew, that it was better not to anger theier mother.

Nolan, Rose and Thalia nodded with a smile.

Once the discussion had ended, every member of the family returned to theier room, together ready for the night.

After Maisie had brushed Thalias hair, the girl quickly went to bed and holed herself into the blankets.

Someone knocked, and after she had called:"Come in", her mother entered.

She sat down next to Thalia on her bed and started stroking her daughters head gently.

"Are you nervous because of the trip?", she asked.

Thalia nodded and answered:"I'm really happy and excited about it, but I also worry about so many things. What if something happens? What if one of us get hurt? What if I get lost?"

While speaking, she had started hugging her mother, burying her face at her shoulder.

Her mother started patting her back and reassured her again, that nothing was going to happen.

"For the if-case that anything does happen, I will give you something.", she continued, while pulling out a small package from her pocket," This is a lucky charm from me."

With those words, she opened the package and took out a beautiful silver necklace with a pendant in form of a small flower, with a green emerald in the middle.

She put it around Thalias neck and closed the closure.

The girl looked at the pendant with round eyes.

"It's beautiful.", she said, a bit in awe, while stroking over the pendant with her hand.

Her mother smiled and said:"If anything happens, grap the pendant and whisper your wish to it. Then, someone will definitely come to your aid."

A smile bloomed on Thalias face.

She knew, that she was a bit to old to believe such tales, but she came from a family of mages and had already met beings, that only appeared in fairytales several times, so she believed in her mothers words wholeheartedly.

"Now, sleep. Tomorrow you need to go to school, so you should be ready and awake then.", her mother said and gave her on last goodnight kiss.

Thalia laid down again and closed her eyes.

As she heard the door close behind her mother she opened them a teeny-tiny-bit again and glanced outside the window.

The stars were shining above her head and with a warm feeling inside her chest she fell asleep.
