I pushed open the front door, my heart still racing from the events of the day. James Liam's death weighed heavily on my mind. The quiet of the house felt oppressive, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something larger was at play.
"Sam?" I called out, stepping inside.
He appeared from his office, his expression calm but curious. "You're back earlier than I expected. What's wrong?"
I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to begin. But then I reminded myself that Sam had been a pillar of strength through all of this. He deserved to know the truth.
"We went to see James Liam today," I said, my voice steady despite the storm of emotions swirling within me.
Sam's brow furrowed. "You went to see him? Why?"
"Jonathan and I thought he might know something about the key," I explained. "But when we got there… the police were already swarming the place."
