A Shattered Trail
Bella's point of view
The morning sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on the walls of the apartment. I glanced at the empty side of the bed; Sam had already left for work. I sighed, the weight of unanswered questions and unfinished business settling on my chest. My mind was restless, replaying Maya's revelations from the night before.
Reaching for my phone, I scrolled through my contacts and tapped on Jonathan's name. The phone barely rang twice before his familiar voice came through.
"Bella?"
"Yes, it's me," I said, pacing the room. "Can you come over? I need to talk to you."
"I'll be there in a few minutes," he replied without hesitation.
True to his word, Jonathan arrived quickly. He walked in, his expression cautious. "I wasn't sure if you'd still want to talk to me after… you know, what I said last time."
