Bella's point of view 

The soft hum of the air conditioning filled the silence in the room as I watched Sam sit calmly on the edge of the bed. He was home from work, but something was off. His posture was too still, his expression unreadable, and his fingers tapped lightly against his thigh. He was deep in thought, the kind of brooding silence I had learned to recognize over the weeks 

I walked closer, cautiously placing a hand on his shoulder. "Sam," I said softly, "is everything alright?" 

He exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "I'm fine," he replied, but the distant look in his eyes betrayed him. 

I knelt beside him, meeting his gaze. "You're not fine. Talk to me." 

For a moment, I thought he'd brush me off again, but instead, he sighed deeply. "It's just… work," he said vaguely, though his tone was far too heavy for that excuse.
