The Battle Within
Sam point of view
The silence in the empty boardroom was deafening. The faint scent of coffee lingered in the air, mingling with the tension that hadn't fully dissipated. I stared at the large portrait of my grandfather, William Asher, his stern yet wise gaze meeting mine. His presence felt like both a comfort and a challenge.
"You wouldn't have let this happen, would you?" I muttered under my breath.
The meeting replayed in my mind, each accusation from Kelvin cutting deeper than I wanted to admit. His words weren't just an attack on me they were an attack on everything I stood for. He wanted me to believe I wasn't worthy of the Asher name, of this company, of my position.
But he was wrong.
With a deep breath, I pushed back my chair and stood. I couldn't let Kelvin's venom fester in my mind. There was too much at stake to let him win.
