The boardroom of Asher Enterprises carried an air of gravitas, the portraits of past chairmen adorning the walls as silent witnesses. At the center hung the imposing portrait of my grandfather, William Asher, a man who built this company from the ground up. His legacy was undeniable, and it now loomed over me like a shadow. 

I stood at the far end of the long mahogany table, my back straight and gaze steady. The air was thick with tension as the shareholders took their seats. Some avoided my gaze, while others nodded in acknowledgment. 

Kelvin and Peter, my uncles, and Ruth and Maya, my aunties , sat across from me. Kelvin, his smug expression enough to spark a fire in my chest. His presence always carried an undercurrent of rivalry and disdain, but today, it felt even sharper. 

Mr. Clarke, the company's legal advisor, cleared his throat and called the meeting to order.
