A Thorn in the Path
Bella's POV
The morning light streamed through the curtains, soft and warm, as I stretched, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. But as I reached over, I realized Sam wasn't there. My heart sank a bit, though I knew better than to let it show.
"Miss Bella," a maid's voice echoed from the doorway. "Mr. Sam has already left for work, but Jonathan is waiting downstairs. He'll take you to the Asher family company headquarters as requested."
My eyes widened in surprise. Sam hadn't mentioned taking me to the company this morning. Still, if he wanted me to get a glimpse of the family business, I wasn't about to back down.
