My thoughts
Bella's Point of View
The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the sterile smell of disinfectant and the rhythmic beeping of machines. The room was bathed in soft, artificial light, and as I blinked the haze from my eyes, I saw Jacob sitting in a chair nearby, looking concerned but alert.
"Ma'am, you're awake," Jacob said, relief evident in his tone. "How are you feeling?"
I shifted slightly, wincing at the dull ache in my head. "I'm fine," I said softly, though my voice felt dry and cracked.
Jacob handed me a glass of water, which I gratefully sipped. "What happened?" I asked, though fragments of the attack started to surface in my mind.
"You were attacked, ma'am," Jacob said, his voice heavy. "You're in the hospital now. But don't worry, you're safe."
I nodded slowly, the memories coming back to me of darkness, the masked man, and then… nothing. "Where's Sam?"
