The Game
It was October 3rd, 2024. I was sprinting toward the goal, but four men were coming at me, ready to tackle. Just before they could bring me down, I managed to pass the ball to the best player on our team. The last thing I remember before I hit the ground was the score: 4-4, we were tied.
The next day, the team was celebrating. We didn't win, but we tied with one of the best teams in the nation. My teammates were waiting for me to be discharged from the hospital, and when I finally got out, they were all so happy to see me. Their smiles made me feel great.
That night, I went up to the best player on our team, Henry, and said, "Thank you."
He looked confused and asked, "Why are you thanking me? I should be thanking you. If you hadn't passed the ball, we would've lost."
I smiled, and we talked about how we qualified to join the league.
The next morning, the team received a letter. It said that if we won the upcoming match, we would be the next in line to be crowned the "King of Soccer." The letter explained that if we could beat the other top teams, we would hold the King of Sports title.
What is the King of Sports?
The "King of Sports" is a title reserved for the best players in the world. It comes with wealth and fame, paying like royalty. I was excited—finally, a chance to be recognized on the global stage!
However, Henry didn't seem to care as much. He shrugged and said, "Why should I join? I already know I'm the best." Everyone groaned and told him to shut up. Then Henry looked at me and said, "Adan, tell them."
Yes, my name is Adan. But instead of agreeing with Henry, I replied, "No, I'm the best player."
Henry raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Looks like someone's growing an ego."
