On this day, John Doe, Vegeta, and Goku were diligently training on the Planet of the Gods of Destruction.
The three of them had been training on the planet for almost a year, and Whis felt it was time to impart more advanced martial arts knowledge.
The trio sat cross-legged on the grassy field of the Planet of the Gods of Destruction, their eyes closed.
"Although you still have great potential to unlock, it simply requires consistent and disciplined training. Now, I will teach you how to better utilize your strength," Whis said to the three of them.
"How do you usually attack?"
Goku replied, "We punch or kick."
"Then, why do you attack in that manner?" Whis continued.
The three of them were momentarily confused, unsure of what Whis meant.
"I'm asking, how do you dodge an enemy's attack or strike your opponent?" Whis clarified.
"You wouldn't be swinging at thin air, would you?"
John Doe responded, "We probably use our eyes to see the enemy or sense them with our ki."
Whis agreed, "Yes, that's right. You see the enemy's movements or attacks with your eyes, which sends signals to your brain, and then your brain commands your muscles to counterattack or strike."
Upon hearing Whis' words, the three of them nodded in agreement, as it was indeed the case.
"However, the transmission of information takes time, even if it's very brief. But against opponents stronger than you, this time is enough for them to defeat you," Whis continued.
"So, we need to train our muscles to react on their own, empty our minds, and ultimately achieve self-reacting muscles through practice."
Hearing this, Goku and Vegeta turned their gaze towards John Doe, and Goku said, "Ah, isn't this the method John Doe used when he sparred with Lord Beerus for the first time?"
Whis nodded and said, "That's right. But at the time, John Doe needed to calm his mind first, and during the fight, he couldn't always dodge Lord Beerus' attacks. Do you know why?"
John Doe thought for a moment and replied, "It's probably because of his emotions. Even though he had calmed himself before the fight, his emotions would still fluctuate during the battle—anxiety, anger, joy, excitement, and so on. These emotions would disrupt his peaceful state of mind."
Whis nodded and said, "That's right. So, the most crucial aspect of mastering the Ultimate Self-Mastery is to have a mind as calm as still water."
"The Ultimate Self-Mastery?!" Goku asked curiously.
"Yes, when you reach the limit of this state of training, we call it the Ultimate Self-Mastery."
"The Ultimate Self-Mastery!" Goku and Vegeta murmured.
"Okay, let's begin the training. To break through to the Ultimate Self-Mastery, you need both a calm mind and extensive reflex training. It's not something that can be achieved easily," Whis said.
"It took me almost a hundred years to break through to the Ultimate Self-Mastery."
"Over a hundred years?!" John Doe, Goku, and Vegeta were astonished. They hadn't expected that Whis, an angel, would also take over a hundred years to achieve the Ultimate Self-Mastery.
After this, John Doe, Goku, and Vegeta spent their mornings uncovering their potential through weight training, and in the afternoons, they emptied their minds. Then, with Whis' help, they trained their muscles to react on their own.
However, after more than ten days of training, Whis looked at Vegeta with a slight headache and said, "Vegeta, you must relax your mind and body. When facing an attack, don't think; let your muscles counterattack on their own, without overthinking."
The situation was that Goku and John Doe, under Whis' training, had already reached a stage where their muscles could react on their own during moments of inspiration.
But Vegeta was different. He couldn't relax his mind and body, and every attack he made was controlled by his brain. He couldn't achieve the state of self-reacting muscles.
Facing Vegeta's difficulty, Whis thought for a moment and said, "Vegeta, you can't continue combat training for now. From now on, you will sit under the World Tree every day to calm your mind and relax your entire body."
Upon hearing Whis' instructions, Vegeta began to meditate.
Lord Beerus woke up and came to observe how Whis was training John Doe and the others. However, he only found Whis, John Doe, and Goku on the training ground; Vegeta was nowhere to be seen.
Lord Beerus curiously asked, "Whis, where's Vegeta?"
Whis, effortlessly blocking the attacks from John Doe and Goku, replied, "Lord Beerus, Vegeta can't calm his mind and body. His mind is filled with too many thoughts, and he can't focus."
"Vegeta has an extremely hot-tempered and restless personality. No matter how I train him, he can't stop thinking before attacking. So, I've asked him to sit under the World Tree and meditate to learn how to calm his mind," Whis explained.
Lord Beerus nodded and said, "I'll go see him."
When Lord Beerus found Vegeta, he was meditating under the World Tree.
Although Vegeta sat motionless under the tree, Lord Beerus could still sense the restless thoughts swirling in Vegeta's mind.
"It's hard to calm your mind, isn't it?" Lord Beerus said.
Vegeta opened his eyes wide, looked at Lord Beerus, nodded, and then closed his eyes again.
After a moment of silence, Lord Beerus continued, "Actually, you don't need to pursue the Ultimate Self-Mastery."
"Then what should I learn? I don't want to fall too far behind John Doe and Goku," Vegeta said with a hint of distress.
Lord Beerus smiled and asked, "Do you think I, as the God of Destruction, have mastered the Ultimate Self-Mastery?"
Vegeta looked at Lord Beerus and shook his head, replying, "I don't know."
Lord Beerus said, "The Ultimate Self-Mastery is a divine technique used by the Angel Clan. I don't deny its power, but for the Gods of Destruction, it's not suitable. We have our own divine techniques."
"What? There are other divine techniques?!" Vegeta exclaimed in surprise.
