Chapter 144 - Chapter 13: The Arrival of the Androids

The day of the androids' arrival, as foretold by Future Trunks, had quietly arrived, unbeknownst to anyone on Earth except for the Z Warriors. Unaware of the impending disruption to their peaceful lives, the Earthlings went about their day as usual.

John Doe, Goku, Gohan, and Piccolo bid farewell to Chi-Chi and flew towards the location where the androids were expected to appear. At this point, John, Goku, and Gohan had not maintained their Super Saiyan forms. Six months prior, they had already pushed their Super Saiyan states to the limit, but a powerful barrier seemed to prevent them from breaking through to the Super Saiyan 2 level.

This barrier felt similar to the one they had experienced when they first achieved the Super Saiyan form in their base state. Thus, they needed a trigger to advance to the next level.

Despite not reaching Super Saiyan 2, John was confident. Based on the original storyline, he believed that with their current strength, they could easily defeat Androids 19 and 20. Even with the addition of Androids 16, 17, and 18, and as long as Cell didn't absorb 17 and 18 to evolve into his perfect form, they were certain of victory.

With this confidence, they flew towards the southern capital. Along the way, they encountered Krillin and Tien Shinhan, but Chaozu was not with them.

Goku asked, "Hey, Tien, why didn't Chaozu come this time?"

Tien replied, "This mission is too dangerous, so I didn't bring him along."

"Do you guys think we can defeat the androids this time?" John asked.

Krillin's expression was not very positive, and he forced a smile. "To be honest, John, Goku, I don't have any confidence in defeating the androids, and I'm not even sure if I'll make it out of this battle alive."

John patted Krillin on the shoulder and said, "Krillin, you need to have faith in me and Goku. Don't worry, you can just cheer us on from behind and wait to celebrate our victory with us."

Krillin's face lit up at John's confident words. He trusted John and believed that as long as John and Goku were there, no one could conquer Earth.

Soon, they arrived at a hill on the outskirts of the southern capital, where Yamcha and Bulma were already waiting. Bulma was holding a blue-haired child in her arms.

Krillin was startled when he saw the child in Bulma's arms. "What? Bulma, Yamcha, it's only been a little over a year since we last met, and you already have a child?"

"When did you two get married? You didn't even call to let us know so we could celebrate with you."

Yamcha smiled bitterly and said, "This isn't my child. Bulma and I have separated."

"Guess who this child's father is. I bet you can't guess."

When Goku saw Trunks, he immediately went over to play with him. "We know, he's Vegeta's son, right? Where's your dad, Trunks? Why didn't he come?"

Upon hearing Goku's words, Bulma was surprised. She had intended to let everyone guess, but Goku had guessed correctly. "Goku, how did you know? And you even know my son's name! I was going to keep it a secret and let everyone guess."

Goku realized he had spoken out of turn and scratched his head. "Oh, is that so? Did I guess right? I didn't know before. I just thought he looked a lot like Vegeta, especially with those fierce eyes."

"But how did you know his name?" Bulma asked further.

Goku became flustered and tried to explain, "Ah... I guess I'm just really good at guessing. Maybe I have a talent for being a fortune teller, haha..."

Bulma looked at Goku suspiciously, thinking his words were strange. John and Piccolo covered their foreheads, defeated by Goku's unique thought process.

As they chatted, they also surveyed the island, trying to locate the androids. Gohan seemed to enjoy playing with little Trunks, making funny faces to entertain him.

Time passed, and it had already been half an hour since the time Future Trunks had mentioned (10:00 AM). There was no sign of the androids in the city on the island.

"Maybe the future changed because of the time traveler," Yamcha suggested. "Perhaps the androids won't appear today, or maybe they won't appear at all in this timeline."

Everyone remained silent, but they all believed that the future might have indeed changed.

John couldn't say anything either, as the entire Dragon Ball storyline had already deviated significantly from what he knew. The little information he had couldn't be used as a reference anymore.

Just then, the sound of an airplane engine filled the sky as a passenger plane flew overhead. This was a common occurrence, as a plane passed by every hour.

Suddenly, there was a loud explosion, and the plane disintegrated mid-air, showering the sky with debris and passengers.

Two figures were clearly seen near the plane, and they had attacked it.

"Androids!" everyone immediately thought.

As everyone watched, the two androids descended to the city on the island, ignoring the falling passengers.

Goku shouted, "Let's go and help those people!" He instantly teleported to a falling passenger, brought them back to the ground, and set them down.

John, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan, Piccolo, and Gohan quickly joined in the rescue effort.

Thanks to their combined efforts, all the passengers, except for those who had died in the initial attack, were saved.

The group then turned their attention to the city, intending to use their ki to locate the two androids. However, no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't sense the androids' ki.

"Damn it! Why can't we sense their ki? Do they not have any ki at all?" Goku exclaimed angrily.

"It's probably because they're androids," John explained. "They have a special power source, and the energy they use is different from ours. It's not something that can be cultivated through training."

John continued, "Let's go down to the city right now. The androids didn't come here to sightsee; they must have a purpose. Judging from their actions earlier, they won't be easy to deal with."

"So, let's search the city together, but let's not spread out too far. If we encounter the androids, don't attack them alone. Be sure to alert the others with your ki. They are not ordinary enemies."

"Okay!" Everyone agreed and descended to the city to search for the androids.
