On the first day, there was no match scheduled for John Doe, so he happily explored Planet Gante with Kano.
John Doe encountered many novel things on Planet Gante, especially a virtual reality game that hadn't even been developed on Earth in his previous life.
In the Dragon Ball world, John Doe had suggested creating a virtual reality game to Bulma, and she had agreed. However, she found the technology too simple and delegated the task to the researchers in her company.
As John Doe was busy training, both he and Bulma gradually forgot about the progress of the virtual reality game.
On Planet Gante, John Doe witnessed a highly advanced virtual reality technology. By wearing a helmet, one could experience an incredibly realistic world, where virtual characters possessed all five senses.
After the experience, John Doe asked, "Kano, how much does this virtual reality technology cost?"
Kano was taken aback by John Doe's question, thinking he was joking. But seeing John Doe's serious expression, he replied, "John Doe, it's impossible. No matter how much money you have, you can't make the virtual reality company give up such a profitable business."
John Doe was disappointed, but it was a common emotion. After all, he knew someone who was even smarter than a god. At least when it came to inventions, John Doe believed that no one in the universe could surpass Bulma.
The next day, John Doe participated in his first match. His opponent was known as the Meat Grinder, Nigru Gureli, who had only recently started competing on Planet Gante and had fought in just ten matches.
In those ten matches, he had broken the bones of all his opponents, except for the most recent one, who had survived by conceding defeat.
Kano looked through the contestant booklet and shared Nigru Gureli's record with John Doe. He then said, "The organizers rate his overall combat power at 8000."
"John Doe, I think you should concede. His combat power is 8000," Kano advised again.
John Doe smiled and asked, "So what? It's just 8000. How do you know we're not stronger than him?"
Kano explained, "If you were to say this to someone else, they would immediately know you're new to Planet Gante. Many large shopping malls here have combat power detectors at their entrances. If a customer's combat power exceeds 2000, the detector will sound an alarm, and a dedicated attendant will accompany them to prevent any potential robbery."
"But yesterday, we walked through many places, and not once did you trigger the detector's alarm. This proves that your combat power is definitely below 2000. So, why would I believe that you have a combat power of over 8000?"
John Doe smiled and asked, "Which is more threatening, a tiger that has shown its claws or one hiding in the shadows?"
Kano replied, "Of course, the tiger hiding in the shadows is more dangerous. But what does this have to do with your match?"
After a moment of thought, Kano exclaimed, "You mean you're the tiger hiding in the shadows?"
John Doe smiled but didn't answer. His target was never someone with a combat power of 8000 like Nigru Gureli. Instead, he aimed for the top three fighters in the boxing league: Ziong, Gregg, and Tematugushi, with combat powers of 240,000, 320,000, and 400,000, respectively. They were considered super-elite fighters in the universe, and even in Frieza's army, only Frieza himself had a higher combat power than these three.
As John Doe arrived at the boxing arena, the match was about to begin.
Before stepping onto the ring, John Doe asked Kano, "What are the betting odds for my match against the Meat Grinder?"
Kano replied, "1:89, but as a contestant, you're not allowed to bet."
John Doe said, "I can't bet, but you can. Here's 700,000 galactic coins. Put it all on me."
Kano took the 700,000 galactic coins from John Doe, looking a bit dazed. "Who should I bet on?"
John Doe rolled his eyes and said, "Of course, bet on me." After saying this, he walked towards the ring, but before leaving, he added, "I'll give you a suggestion. You can also bet a small amount on me."
With that, John Doe stepped into the ring, where a half-naked man was already waiting for him.
The large iron door behind John Doe was slammed shut by a staff member, enclosing the ring within a massive steel cage. The iron door was the only entrance, and now it was also closed.
As the door closed, the ring erupted with deafening cheers, jeers, and curses.
Many wealthy individuals traveled to Planet Gante in their spaceships to gamble, watch the matches, and release their stress and frustrations.
Nigru Gureli had been sitting on a stool in the corner of the ring but stood up when he saw John Doe enter.
He hadn't paid much attention while sitting, but now that John Doe was standing before him, he realized how short his opponent was. Nigru Gureli was about 2.3 meters tall and well-built, with muscles resembling those of a strongman. His arms were thicker than John Doe's thighs.
Nigru Gureli approached John Doe and looked down at the short man before him. With contempt, he said, "Kid, I admire your courage for daring to face me. Just for your bravery today, I'll spare you from having your bones broken. I hope you'll enjoy the match."
John Doe looked at the tall man in front of him and replied, "I hope your moves are as tough as your words."
Hearing John Doe's words, Nigru Gureli became enraged. This was the first time anyone had spoken to him like that since he started competing on Planet Gante. He widened his eyes, and his anger was palpable in his breath.
"I've changed my mind," he said. "I won't just break your bones; I'll tear you apart."
He walked to the edge of the ring, next to the steel cage, and slammed his hand against it. Turning to the referee, he demanded, "Start the match, or else!"
The referee, startled, quickly announced the beginning of the match.
