Yamcha smiled at Shen and said, "You're absolutely right. Since my regular moves don't work on you, let me show you my ultimate technique that I've been diligently training."
Goku, curious, asked Krillin, "Do you know what Yamcha's ultimate move is?"
Krillin shook his head and replied, "We haven't been training together for the past three years. After the first year, we went to Korin Tower to meet Master Karin, and once we came down, we separated to train on our own."
Goku nodded, turning his attention back to the ring. John was also interested; he wanted to see if Yamcha's energy ball technique was worth learning. If possible, he hoped to combine it with his energy slice technique to create a new ultimate move, similar to Frieza's technique. John believed that when he next encountered Frieza, this new move would surely surprise him.
Yamcha raised his palm and began to gather energy, his face contorting with effort as veins bulged on his forehead, indicating the difficulty of using this technique.
Finally, Yamcha shouted, "Energy Ball!" A ball of energy formed in his palm.
Seeing this, Goku was immediately impressed. "Yamcha's ultimate move is pretty powerful! He can condense the energy ball without it dispersing; that's really amazing!"
Yamcha then smiled at Shen and threw the energy ball at him with great speed. However, Shen easily dodged it.
But Yamcha pointed his finger and commanded the energy ball to fly autonomously. Following his command, the energy ball relentlessly pursued Shen.
Even Shen had to dodge awkwardly as Yamcha controlled the energy ball to strike the ring.
Shen initially thought that once the energy ball hit the ground, it would disappear since it had struck an object. However, he was surprised when the energy ball shot up from beneath the ring and struck him under the chin.
Shen was lifted off the ground and landed back on the ring, even losing his glasses in the process.
Seeing this scene, Krillin cheered excitedly, believing Yamcha had won.
Yamcha on stage was similarly elated and almost declared victory outright. But just as he relaxed his guard, Shen suddenly leaped up and delivered a punch that sent Yamcha flying off the stage.
Krillin's cheers were abruptly cut off as if someone had grabbed him by the throat.
Before long, both Shen and Yamcha stepped down from the ring.
Observing Shen's extraordinary strength, Goku turned to John and asked, "John, do you know who Shen is?"
John nodded and replied, "Yes, it's God. I'm very familiar with his aura."
Goku looked puzzled and asked, "But didn't we agree that Piccolo would handle him? Why is he coming down personally?"
John patted Goku on the shoulder and said, "You don't need to worry about that; he's not a match for Piccolo. He needs to get through me first while Piccolo needs to get through you."
"I don't think you'll lose to Piccolo," John said with a smile.
Goku clenched his fists and looked at John with fierce determination. "Of course not! I've been looking forward to battling you for a long time; just don't be shocked by my strength!"
"Of course! I've been looking forward to fighting you too; I haven't just been wandering around space these past two years," John replied with equal enthusiasm.
After saying this, they ignored everyone else and bumped fists together in camaraderie.
Meanwhile, Piccolo was furious. His ears were extremely sensitive; even from a distance he heard every word exchanged between John and Goku.
Piccolo seethed with anger: "Damn John and Goku! I will defeat both of you; otherwise I won't call myself King Piccolo!"
Soon it was Goku's turn to enter the ring against a girl he had greeted during the preliminaries—Chi-Chi.
As they faced each other on stage, Chi-Chi asked again, "Goku, do you really not remember who I am?"
Goku shook his head decisively. "I really don't know you; can you tell me who you are?"
"Idiot! You're such a jerk!" Chi-Chi shouted angrily.
Goku replied innocently: "Are you sure you're not mistaking me for someone else?"
"Of course not! Your name is Son Goku, right?" Chi-Chi asked.
Goku nodded. "That's correct; my name is Son Goku but..."
"No 'buts'!" With that, Chi-Chi launched an attack at Goku. Although her moves were fierce, they lacked any killing intent and resembled more of a friendly sparring match than a serious fight.
Krillin observed from the sidelines: "Chi-Chi's moves are very similar to our Turtle School techniques. I'm increasingly curious about her relationship with Goku."
On stage, no matter how hard Chi-Chi attacked Goku, she couldn't land a single hit—not even touching his clothes.
Despite her apparent deep-seated anger toward him, Goku couldn't recall anything about her. While dodging her attacks he kept asking: "Can you tell me who you are? What did I do that made you so angry?"
Chi-Chi shouted angrily as she continued her assault: "What did you do? You've completely forgotten your promise to me!"
"What promise? I'm really confused," Goku replied with a blank expression.
Seeing that Goku truly couldn't remember anything, Chi-Chi finally said: "Well then let me remind you: You promised me that when you grew up you'd marry me!"
"What?!" Chi-Chi's revelation shocked Krillin and Tien Shenhan who were unaware of this backstory.
However, what happened next caused them all to fall over in disbelief as Goku asked: "Hey Krillin, what's marriage?"
Krillin got up from the ground in shock and shouted: "Marriage isn't just anything! It means you're going to live together with this beautiful girl in the future!"
"What? Live together with her?!" Upon understanding what marriage meant, Goku was astounded.
Krillin felt a mix of envy and jealousy as he exclaimed: "Goku! What kind of expression is that? Do you know how hard it is to have a cute girl like her interested in you? And yet you're acting reluctant! Damn it! Why isn't it me?!"
Goku turned back to Chi-Chi: "So who exactly are you? Even if I promised to marry you someday I can't just marry someone without knowing who they are!"
Chi-Chi replied: "I can tell you who I am but only if you can defeat me."
Hearing this condition made Goku happy as he exclaimed: "Oh! So that's what it's about! You should have said so earlier!"
Chi-Chi retorted: "Don't underestimate me! I've trained rigorously over these years just to defeat you!"
But before she could finish speaking, Goku sent out a gust of wind from a punch that knocked Chi-Chi off the stage.
Goku rushed over to help her up and asked with concern: "Are you okay?"
Chi-Chi rubbed her aching head and said: "I'm fine; you're truly impressive for someone I chose as my man!"
Goku asked eagerly: "Now can you tell me who you are?"
Chi-Chi stared blankly at Goku before finally saying: "I'm Chi-Chi—the daughter of Ox-King."
"Chi-Chi?!" Goku exclaimed in surprise. "Is it really that Chi-Chi?!"
Chi-Chi nodded affirmatively. "Yes! Do you remember now?"
At that moment Goku recalled their parting years ago at Fire Mountain when Chi-Chi had indeed told him she wanted him to marry her when they grew up—and he had promised her then.
Seeing Goku's expression change made Chi-Chi realize he remembered their childhood promise. She eagerly asked: "So Goku? Have you remembered?"
Looking at Chi-Chi thoughtfully, Goku replied: "Yes—I remember that promise but back then I thought marriage was something delicious!"
"Something delicious?" Chi-Chi felt incredibly wronged as she responded: "Then will you still keep your promise?"
Looking at her sincerity brought a smile back to Goku's face as he said: "Well since I've already promised then I'll marry you!"
Upon hearing this from Goku made Chi-Chi beam with joy as she hugged his arm tightly while walking down from the stage together.
All the spectators were caught off guard by their sudden romance while the host excitedly announced this unprecedented celebratory event at the World Martial Arts Tournament.
