Chapter 5 - Close Encounters

The shrill sound of the alarm clock shattered the quiet morning, jolting both Alex and Dean awake. Their eyes fluttered open simultaneously, only to be met with the sudden realization of how close they were. The alarm continued to ring for a few seconds before finally falling silent, but what didn't quiet down were their hearts, both beating rapidly in their chests.

Alex's hand was resting firmly on Dean's back, holding him close, while Dean's leg was entwined with Alex's. Even more embarrassing, Alex's other arm was beneath Dean's head, serving as an unintentional pillow. Dean's face flushed a deep red, and Alex was equally surprised, his heart skipping a beat at the unexpected intimacy.

For a moment, they just stared at each other, processing the situation. Dean's face grew hotter as he realized how tightly they were wrapped around one another.

"Kikki…" Dean blurted, suddenly panicked as he noticed the absence of the baby between them. "Where's Kikki?!" His embarrassment hit an all-time high as he quickly tried to pull away, pushing Alex's arm off him.

But before Dean could fully detach himself, Alex grabbed him again, pulling him back into a warm, secure hug. This time, Alex was deliberate, wrapping his arms around Dean's smaller frame and holding him close against his chest. Dean froze, eyes wide in shock as his face was pressed into Alex's chest, his heart racing even faster.

"Stay like this for a while," Alex murmured, his voice soft as his hand moved to the back of Dean's head, gently resting it against him.

Dean was utterly flustered, his face turning an even deeper shade of red. "Your son is missing, and you're hugging a man?" Dean managed to say, his voice muffled against Alex's chest, clearly bewildered by the whole situation.

Alex chuckled softly, his breath warm against Dean's hair. "He's probably around here somewhere. He always does this when he wakes up. Let's just lay here for a few more minutes, then we can look for him. I'll cook breakfast today," he added, his voice calm and reassuring.

Dean's initial panic slowly melted away at the thought of not having to do chores first thing in the morning. The idea of resting in the warm bed, wrapped in Alex's arms, was surprisingly… comforting. He let out a soft sigh, his body relaxing against Alex's as the exhaustion from the previous day washed over him.

"Okay," Dean whispered quietly, the tension leaving his body as he nuzzled slightly into Alex's chest, a small, sleepy smile playing on his lips. But his mind was racing. *Why is he hugging me like this?* Dean thought, confused by the unexpected affection. But, at the same time, he pushed those thoughts aside. *Who cares? I just want to rest for a bit longer…*

The warmth of Alex's embrace and the quiet stillness of the room was everything Dean needed. With a soft exhale, Dean let his eyes drift shut again, letting himself fall back into the peace of sleep, forgetting the world around him, if only for a few more minutes.
