Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: Still Need Professional Instruction

Zaernol, a small monster the size of a cat, roared like a raging beast when he shouted his true name. The lights in the entire room were suddenly obscured by shadows, and the windows were shaking!

Jess was so frightened that the back of his neck felt a chill. He had to pick up the note with the strangulation spell written on it again.

After speaking, the imp was so exhausted that he kept panting. Seeing Jess pick up the note again, he opened his mouth, stuck out his tongue, and kept exhaling loudly. His weak hand pointed at the note but he couldn't make a sound. His expression seemed as if tears were about to flow out.

But his eyes were all flames. Certainly, he couldn't shed any tears.

Jess knew what he meant and put the note away again. Only then did the imp flop down on the ground.

"Shouting one's true name is very tiring, master. Remember it this time. Don't make me shout it again!"

Jess asked in confusion, "Do imps also have physical strength? Can they also get tired? Aren't you a demon, a magical creature?"

"We don't have physical strength like you mortals." Zaernol regained his previous sharp tone. "But shouting one's true name requires mental and magical power. After this, I can't use any magic anymore. I need to rest..."

"But your true name is too difficult to remember." Jess touched his nose and said, "When you shouted just now, the sound was so loud that I didn't hear it clearly."

"Doesn't the master know demonic language? That's really strange." Zaernol's voice was full of helplessness. "If you don't know demonic language, how could you have summoned me here? If you know demonic language, remembering the true names of demons should be very simple. The master is either a fool or is lying to me."

Hmph, fool.

Jess suddenly realized... Right, why not learn demonic language from this imp? Let this imp look at that book written in Orcish and another unknown language and help him translate it by the way?

Why did he only realize the benefits of summoning a demon now? He felt that his mind was really not working before. Why didn't he think of summoning a demon to teach him demonic language?

In fact, it's not that his mind wasn't working. It's that he was a normal person before!

Thinking of this, Jess felt that he was several times crazier than a month ago.

If he had considered summoning a demon a month ago, he would definitely have thought he was crazy. Now, he thinks that the version of himself who didn't consider summoning a demon is crazy!

"Okay, don't worry about being foolish or not. Teach me demonic language." Jess said immediately, "This is the master's order."

"Whatever the master says is an order... I must carry out the master's order... Ah, so tired. So many orders."

As he was talking, this imp actually fell asleep.

Can you still fall asleep at this time?

Jess patted the imp's face. When he touched the other's skin, he felt a chilling cold that made his whole body uncomfortable. But this cold also seemed to be burning his fingers. This contradictory feeling made him subconsciously feel that he had touched something extremely unnatural.

Looking at his own fingers, there was no visible damage. Is this the feel of demon skin?

The imp raised his head unhappily and said, "I want to rest... Master, I want to forget the master's order!"

"If you want to sleep, disappear first." Jess said coldly, "Use phase shift immediately. Don't show your appearance here. Do you know what will happen if you expose your appearance in a human kingdom? From now on, as long as there is a third party present, you must be invisible. Don't let anyone other than me see your appearance!"

Zaernol said lazily, "I remember the master's request. But what will humans do to me?"

"Do you know what the Holy Light is?" Jess asked.

"The Holy Light? The Holy Light?" Zaernol shouted at the top of his voice, "Could it be that there are also things like Holy Light priests and Holy Light warriors in this world?"

"In Azeroth, they are called priests and paladins." Jess explained, "Just a few hundred meters to the north, there is a Holy Light church. There are almost hundreds of priests and paladins inside."

"No!" Zaernol jumped up and said, "It's you, master, who has pulled me into this pit of fire! No! Azeroth should have been a beautiful world full of arcane magic. Why does the Holy Light occupy here!"

Jess scolded, "Shut up and become invisible before sleeping!"

"I don't have the strength to become invisible anymore... My demon true name has been controlled, so I have been severely weakened. I can't do it now, master!" Zaernol growled helplessly.

At this moment, there was a sudden knock on the door.

Jess glanced out of the window. It might be two or three o'clock in the morning. He was making such a commotion at this time...

He kicked the imp under the bed and then opened the door.

"Mr. Sesuo." The neighbor old lady leaned at the door and said, "If there is something sad that makes you unable to sleep, you can talk to me, an old lady, during the day. I have no one to talk to alone. But it's too late now."

"No... there's nothing wrong, madam." Jess said, "I was practicing drama just now. I will perform tomorrow. I'm nervous and afraid that I won't pass. But I've finished. I'll go to sleep soon!"

"That's good!" The old lady tottered and walked back upstairs. Jess slammed the door shut and sat on the bed with his heart pounding.

He glanced under the bed. The imp had fallen into a deep sleep.

Jess sat on the bed, recalling the conversation with the imp just now.

He realized a rather strange problem.

Zaernol clearly knew about the existence of the world of Azeroth, but seemed to not be very familiar with the current situation of Azeroth. Otherwise, he wouldn't not know about the fact that humans already have the faith in the Holy Light.

His understanding of Azeroth might still be stuck in the time of Titan's creation, the ancient period when the elves ruled the world, or at least thousands of years ago, when humans were still in the tribal era at the earliest.

So why does he know Common?

Come to think of it, his Common does have some strange aspects. It's neither like the accent of Stormwind nor like the accent of Lordaeron.

Demons who die on Azeroth will not truly disappear. Instead, their demon souls will be banished back to the Twisting Nether. When they absorb enough shadow and fel energy, they will reshape their bodies and be reborn.

If a demon dies in the Twisting Nether, it will truly die. This is why he is so afraid of that demon lord turning him into soul fragments. Because once such a fate befalls him, he will die forever.

Could it be that a long time ago, he was summoned to Azeroth, learned Common, and then died accidentally and was banished back to the Twisting Nether?

When he wakes up, he still needs to ask carefully.

When did Common appear on Azeroth? In the ancient era of Arathor, or even earlier?

Jess realized that he really didn't know much about this aspect of knowledge. He still needed to read more books from Marin.
