Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Herbalist or Bounty Hunter?

Jess and Gerred walked into the alchemy room one after the other carrying the herb bag. As soon as the boss, Ruth Lumir, saw Jess, her eyes lit up immediately.

"Did you dig up Grave Moss, Mr. Sethor... Did I remember your last name correctly?"

"You remembered correctly, madam." Jess said, "But unfortunately, we didn't dig up Grave Moss. There are only some Silverleaf and some other herbs. Do you want to weigh them? We'll sell everything in the bag."

"Please help me move it to the counter, handsome dwarf sir." Lumir said with a smile. After hearing this, Gerred immediately raised his eyes and happily snatched the bag and carried it over there by himself.

"However." Lumir turned back and looked at Jess and said, "I smell a not very pleasant smell on you. You must have found a lot of cemeteries, right? It's a pity that you didn't find any. After such a long time without supply, I'm planning to raise the price. Of course, the purchase price will also increase. If there is any good news, be sure to tell me as soon as possible. Grave Moss is an important material for making drugs to resist black magic. You also know that many orc warlocks are scattered in the forests and mountains. Now there are still some soldiers who are injured in encounters with them and all rely on Grave Moss for treatment."

"I heard that some trolls will 'plant' Grave Moss." Lumir whispered and looked at the dwarf and said, "You know, it's very difficult to grow it with animal corpses, and trolls won't use the corpses of their own people either. You understand what I mean, right?"

"I understand perfectly." The dwarf nodded and said, "I'm from Hinterlands."

"The brave warrior of the Wildhammer clan." Ruth Lumir said, "Then you must feel it deeply. Maybe we will also use this method later. In fact, if there are really politicians or nobles who are willing to suggest to the king to make this decision, I will be very pleased. This shows that at least everyone still has reason. The dignity of the dead is not as important as the lives of the living."

"That's so true." Gerred agreed, "If all the living are dead, who will respect the dead?"

The middle-aged female boss and Gerred seemed to hit it off immediately, but Jess had no mood to join their small talk. He secretly smelled himself and felt that he couldn't smell anything. Why did the boss and Ruth both say that he smelled like a dead person?

And why didn't Gerred smell like that?

Gerred handed the herb that looked like Earthroot to the female boss. The female boss looked at it and asked, "Where did you pick this? This is Liferoot."

"What is Liferoot?" Gerred asked.

"It's a rather rare medicinal material and it's very difficult to pick it in the territory." Lumir explained, "This medicinal material can be used to make antidote potions. The medicinal effect is very strong, so the demand is very large. Strangely, goblins in Booty Bay have always been purchasing this, and I don't understand why. Anyway, it has also raised the price. This one looks good. I'm willing to buy it for 20 silver. How about it?"

"20 silver coins?" Gerred's exclamation startled Jess who was still thinking about other things.

Jess stared at the grass and asked, "Is Liferoot so expensive? Where is there more of it?"

Lumir said, "In the north, from the Alterac Mountains to the Arathor area. There is also some in Khaz Modan."

"It's really too far." Jess said helplessly.

"Then where did you get it?" Lumir immediately asked.

Of course they couldn't say that they robbed an elf.

"It's the secret of herbalists." Jess said mysteriously.

Lumir smiled and asked, "It's not that you stayed by some precious herb for several days and then knocked out an innocent herbalist who came to collect it and stole someone else's bag?!"

This herb buyer really understands, but Jess immediately said, "Do I look like someone who can do such a thing? I've always been a victim!"

Lumir pointed at the dwarf and said, "You don't look like it, but he does."

The dwarf roared, "What does it have to do with me? Just now I was still a brave Wildhammer warrior!"

Hearing that Lumir had already noticed that there was a problem with the source of their medicine, Jess took the remaining potion bottles robbed from the elf and didn't dare to ask what kind of medicine this was.

He simply placed the bottle on the counter and said, "There are still three bottles of medicine. We don't need them anymore. We plan to sell them too."

"Generally, we don't accept finished potions here, Mr. Sethor."

Although Lumir said so, she still picked up these three bottles of medicine one by one, opened the bottle stoppers and smelled them, and said, "Agility potion, Frost Affinity potion. Light be with us. You still have a bottle of Detect Lesser Invisibility. Are you herbalists or what kind of bounty hunters?"

Gerred and Jess exchanged glances. Gerred immediately said, "It's none of your business, madam. If you want it, make an offer."

"Maria, Maria!" Lumir shouted towards the back of the room, "Is your Uncle Cordir still accepting medicine?"

"Yes, mom. He was still asking me the day before yesterday."

"Got it!"

Lumir responded and shook these bottles of medicine again and said, "The production level is very high. There are no impurities. And these three bottles are quite beautiful. I'll give you 14 silver for three bottles."

"Take it. Anyway, we don't need it anymore." Jess said.

The few people talked about the distribution and price of herbs. Lumir arranged for two herbal apprentices in the alchemy room to help pick out the weeds in the bag and separate them from other plants that were not herbs. Adding Liferoot and three bottles of potion, finally gave a price of 62 silver coins, which far exceeded their expectations.

The two left the alchemy room with excited expressions on their faces. Once outside, they quickly opened their money bags.

"This is really a full bag of silver coins." Gerred said, "We should thank that elf well. Without him, this bag would be half as empty."

"Yes, without encountering him, this journey would feel like a bit of a loss." Jess said.

Gerred said, "Don't forget your Grave Moss, Kingsblood, and Wicked Claw. We still have them. Those added up are probably around a dozen or twenty silver coins. Speaking of which, what are you going to use them for?"

"Temporarily a secret." Jess said, "I still don't know if it will work. If it fails, it will be a big embarrassment."

"As if I care so much." Gerred said, "Then let's calculate the money."

Jess counted out 44 silver coins and said, "Yours."

"You just give it directly without calculating? Gerred said, "Why do I feel that it's not as much as seventy percent? Take it out and let me count."

Jess said, "I gave you half a silver coin more. You take advantage and still doubt me?"

Gerred frowned and said, "What?!"

"Look." Jess said, "62 silver coins. Isn't it 10 shares of 6.2 silver coins? Then six times seven is forty-two, two times seven is fourteen. Added up it's 43.4..."

Gerred interrupted him and said, "Wait a minute... What are all these? I need to write it down and see."

Jess directly stuffed his wallet to him and kept 18 silver coins for himself and said, "You can calculate it when you have time. I can't run away. If you think I calculated wrong, come to the mage district and chop me!"
