Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: "Two Against One"

Gerred said something in Elvish and slowly straightened up. Although his head didn't rise much above the grass, his large face distorted by anger was clearly displayed.

The elf didn't care at all. He said a phrase in Dwarvish word by word slowly and then laughed heartily.

Gerred gritted his teeth and shouted loudly as he sprang out. The elf smiled and nocked an arrow. His arm was so slender yet contained extremely strong power. He easily drew the bow to its full extent and released it. The arrow shot out like a bullet towards the charging dwarf!

In the blink of an eye, Jess hadn't even reacted. The latter had already taken out a small round shield and accurately deflected the arrow!

The dwarf was still running wildly in the grass. The smile on the elf's face had disappeared. He grabbed a second arrow, took a glance forward, and then released his hand.

Gerred was moving too fast. There was no room to draw the bow.

The elf crossed his arms in front of his chest, gracefully drew out a long and a short scimitar from his waist. He deftly dodged a thrust from Gerred's long sword. Turning around, he slashed down with both swords simultaneously. The dwarf directly blocked it with his shield. However, the strike with the short sword in his right hand was just a feint. After a feint, it brushed past the shield and thrust sharply towards the dwarf's waist... The dwarf's reaction was also extremely quick. The raised round shield smashed down hard and knocked away the elf's blade. The elf took advantage of the momentum to spin and take two steps back. When facing each other again, the two swords were already in position, one high and one low.

Gerred casually threw the small round shield to the side, cursed in Dwarvish, and switched to holding the sword with both hands. Now the elf's face was much more serious than before, ready to meet the attack with full force.

Jess, who was watching from behind, was stunned by these two or three exchanges. In a battle of this level, if he rushed in, wouldn't he be pierced two or three times just by getting grazed?

But Gerred was at a disadvantage. If he didn't help and Gerred lost, then he would be doomed for sure. So he also took out an axe and circled around.

The elf noticed the movement here and only glanced sideways. Gerred roared and raised his sword and charged up. He frowned and blocked the dwarf's fierce slash with his two swords. However, the dwarf's strength was so great that he actually pressed the sword blade down onto his shoulder.

The elf gritted his teeth and glanced at the fist emblem of Stromgarde on the hilt. Jess had already charged up from behind!

Jess roughly swung his axe horizontally towards the elf's waist. The elf snorted, rotated his neck to remove the downward pressure of the dwarf's sword, and at the same time dodged to the side to avoid Jess's horizontal slash. He disengaged like a sleek mongoose.

He continuously retreated and put Jess and Gerred in front of him. His gaze followed his tuft of golden hair and slid down along the dwarf's sword blade.

"Just for a plant, huh?" The elf looked at the two of them and said, "Are you guys not afraid of dying?"

"Aren't you the same?" Jess said. "You're facing two against one."

Gerred said, "It's not about this plant anymore, pointy-eared rat. Just accept your death."

"Yes, yes." The elf looked at Jess and said, "It's not about this plant anymore. Mr. Dwarf wants to regain his meaningless honor and dignity. And as for me, I just don't want him to regain it."

"Die!" Gerred roared and swung his sword and charged up. The elf just snorted coldly and deflected the dwarf's oblique thrust with his long sword. He took two steps back and directly threw his short sword. The short sword grazed Gerred's calf and neatly cut a bloody gash before sticking into the soil. Gerred groaned and fell to the ground.

"Gerred!"

Jess obviously couldn't keep up with the rhythm of the two. Seeing that Gerred was about to be at a disadvantage, he simply threw his axe. This lumbering axe flew accurately towards the elf in a spinning motion but was easily dodged by the elf.

"Human, are you out of your mind?"

Jess looked at Gerred who was trying to get up and the elf who was looking at him sideways. In a moment of heat, he suddenly came up with a bad idea.

He silently recited some English conversation passages he had memorized before, like "How are you?" and pretended to be chanting. At the same time, he imitated Surena's actions when casting spells in the basement and gestured in front of his chest.

The elf was startled and immediately waved his hand nervously and pointed this way and moved his lips slightly. In an instant, Jess suddenly felt as if a string in his head had snapped. An extremely strong ringing in his ears suddenly engulfed all his consciousness.

For a moment, it seemed as if the entire space was pressing down on him. He opened his mouth but couldn't speak. He wanted to shout but couldn't make a sound. His vision was spinning and he couldn't stand steadily at all.

After being dazed for a while, he fell to the ground and ate a mouthful of mud. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Gerred get up and punch the elf on the chin, knocking the elf several meters away and sliding for a certain distance before falling to the ground.

Jess couldn't help but chuckle. The elf had actually fallen for it. He thought he was going to cast a spell, so he tried every means to stop him.

Originally, he thought the other party might throw a throwing knife or shoot an arrow to interrupt his efforts.

He had never intended to cast any spell. All his attention was on the other party. So he was confident that he could dodge as much as possible or at least prevent this casual attack from hitting his vital parts. This was to give Gerred time to counterattack. But he didn't expect the other party to cast a spell and choke him.

Is this the feeling of being counterspelled? He felt as if he had been hit on the back of the head by a wall.

"Enough!"

Just when he thought Gerred had won, the elf roared and stood up. He chanted a spell. Gerred was directly pinned in place by a patch of ice that forcefully grew out from the ground. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't pull his leg free.

"You two idiots... I've had enough of this." The elf pointed at the two of them while retreating and declared, "I'm going to take this plant. So what? Come and hit me. You two lunatics... I'm really having the worst luck today. See what else you can do. See how you can stop me!"

His walking movements were already limping, and his shouting voice was also weak. He touched his cheek that had been hit by a punch. While cursing, he walked towards the Kingsblood. Suddenly, an abrupt metallic scraping sound cut off his endless stream of curses.

"Ah!!! Kill me. Damn dwarf, hairy monster, blind dog, and that accursed short-lived monkey. I'll burn down Goldshire. No, I'll blow up the snow in Ironforge and bury your hometown. I'll kill all you lowly bastards in this world..."

The elf's insults soon turned into sobs. Gerred waited until he finished cursing before saying, "If you don't help me remove the ice binding, I can't help you dismantle the animal trap either."

"Dismantle? Dismantle? Curse this junk made by dwarves. It must be broken to be so difficult to dismantle!" The elf shouted with a crying tone.

"Buddy." Gerred looked at Jess who had been hit on the head by a counterspell and was still dizzy. He said, "Go take a look at what good things are in his bag."

Hearing this, Jess immediately perked up.
