After Lucca left, Cynthia still stood there, her face full of pain. Victoria walked over and helped her sit down. Cynthia grabbed Victoria's hand and asked in a daze,
"Victoria, do I... really not deserve to be by his side?"
It seemed like the first time she had cried for him—not the kind of tears she shed from anger or torment, but from the pain, guilt, and self-blame, along with a mix of other complex emotions that overwhelmed her, triggering her tears.
Victoria gently comforted her,
"Sis, don't listen to that woman. The vice president treats you so well. He would never blame you. If he were going to blame you, he would have done it a long time ago, right?"
Gary also stepped forward, awkwardly trying to console her, but no matter how Victoria and Gary tried to comfort her, or how she tried to console herself, Lucca's words had left a mark in her heart that was hard to erase.
