"Why are you doing this?" Angel asked when the music started to play, and Ares pushed her to the dancefloor.
All night, he had played cat and mouse with her father.
He would get close enough for him to see them together, but pull away every time her father tried to get too close.
She had no idea why he was using her to get to her father, but she knew it was a terrible idea.
"Maybe I just like you close? You smell pretty."
His hand went behind her waist, and he pulled her into his body.
"Do you know how to dance?" He asked, a sinister smile playing around his lips.
"No, but I do know how to use a knife. The butcher could even learn a thing or two from me."
He chuckled in amusement. She had gone from drunk princess, to venomous tongue.
Perhaps, her father being close had given her the courage she needed to mouth off.
Her legs lifted slowly up his waist, as their eyes locked.
"My father will kill you, you know?" she said, as their bodies moved to the sync of the music.
"All men die." He shrugged.
She was instantly irate. There was nothing she said that penetrated that cold heart of his.
It was almost like he was determined to destroy her father, and nothing else mattered.
He twirled her backwards, and when he pulled her closer, caught one of her legs, and hiked it around his waist.
He loved what she was wearing a lot. The slit of the gown made her legs even longer than they were.
"Bastard," she cursed between her teeth..
His lips curved into a wry smile, but his eyes wandered beyond them.
Leonardo was getting closer to them. With every strategic step, he was inching closer.
Ares calculated that by the second turn, he would be just beside them.
He stopped moving abruptly, and grabbed her arm.
"What are you doing?" She asked in alarm, as he pulled her along with him.
"Act like lovers who need to leave urgently. Any sly movement from you, and I would blow your brains off myself," he said in a cold voice that sent chills down her spine.
She instantly stopped struggling, and allowed him to lead the way instead.
As they grew closer to the door, it got even harder to return the pleasantries of his fellow business folks.
They wanted to strike a conversation, when though they could see he wanted nothing more but to leave.
A glance at Leonardo showed him he was aware of his intention to leave.
Ares' trouble radar began to blare, right after he successfully pulled Angel out of the room.
"Talk to me," he said, and she looked at him in surprise.
"Don't go into—"
A blast rocked the air, just before the man in his ears could give him the full instruction.
In a swift second, the dust settled, but Angel was nowhere beside him.
He heard the screams going off in the room, as the guests panicked from the sudden blast.
"Fuck!" He kicked the tire of his car.
"Are you still there, boss?"
"Find her for me. I'm driving towards the exit," he said, going into the car.
"Already did. She's in a black car headed for the highway. We'd try to block them before they succeed."
"Alright."
He turned the steering, and sped out of the building.
As he drove at full speed, his eyes looked out for the black car.
He couldn't believe he had let her slip out of his fingers.
Leonardo wasn't all that dumb after all. He was good with his brain.
"You're two cars behind the black car. We're going to cause a roadblock. But you have to be fast boss,"
"Give me five seconds," Ares replied, determination etched in the crease of his forehead.
In a split second, the cars began to stop, but he didn't.
Swerving to the right, he pushed a little forward, before hopping out of the car.
He went straight to the black car, just as a shot was let loose. The bullet waltz past his neck.
It had not come from the car, he thought. But it had definitely alarmed everyone in the car.
From the corner of his eyes, he sighted his underboss..
Very swiftly, they pulled the same move Leonardo had pulled, causing a little blast.
Like a slithering snake, he pushed open the backseat, and dragged the first thing he touched out.
"Hello darling,"
Her eyes widened in horror, when another shot was let out.
Before she even had the opportunity to breathe, he had swept her into his arms, and carried her across the road, where a car awaited them.
"Drive," he commanded as soon as he pushed her into the car.
The driver nodded, and started the car. Into the shadows, he disappeared, because there were other business he needed to handle.
For the moment, he had won the battle. The headline of the news the next day, would read about a little upset on the highway.
In a week, it would be covered up by some horrible news about one of the governor's of the states.
Leonardo desperately wanted to see him at his mercy, but even he knew they couldn't afford to have their secret identity revealed.
Ares came out at a totally different route, and walked into a car that was parked in wait for him.
"Where to, boss?" Xander asked, a bubbly smile on his face.
"How mad is Leonardo?" He asked, adjusting himself in the passenger's seat
"I would say big mad, considering we pulled off his move, and did it even better," he replied, starting the car.
Ares pulled the earplugs out of his ears.
"Take me to the club," he said, taking off his suit jacket.
Xander drove directly to club Midas. It never failed to surprise him how much Ares could accomplish in such a daring manner.
Any other person would lay low, to keep the attention away from himself, but he could see how determined Ares was.
"How much was touched?" He asked, as Xander pulled the car into the underground parking lot, and he stepped out of the car.
"Thirty thousand," Xander replied, passing him a shirt.
He unbuttoned the long sleeve, and threw on a t-shirt.
Next, he changed into loose jeans, and to finish off, he wore a cap.
"Where's darling?" He asked right after he was done changing.
"She has been cleaned, and is shiny again."
Xander passed him a gun case. For the first time that entire night, he smiled genuinely.
He opened the gun case, and there she was, sitting pettily.
"You and I have a date," he said, turning towards the secret entrance to the club.
"Do you need me there?" Xander called behind him.
"I need you right where you are," he replied, disappearing into the entrance.
Sanders, one of his boys, saluted when he saw him.
"Here for the wandering finger, boss?" He asked, falling behind him.
"Location?"
"Room ten."
He nodded, and made a turn. A few steps ahead, he stopped exactly in front of room ten, and pushed the door open.
As he walked into the cold room they reserved for drinks, he cracked darling, drawing everyone's attention to him.
There were three men present in the room. Alejandro, Vlad, and the man tied to a chair.
"Boss, you made it," the two men said in sync.
Ignoring them, he walked to the chair directly facing the culprit, and plopped on it.
He tapped the man tied to the chair, whilst his other hand placed darling directly on his penis.
Cold shiver ran through the man, when he looked up to see the boss staring at him.
His eyes took a trip down, and he found the boss's gun pointing directly to his penis.
"Pl—"
"Shhhh," Ares silenced him. "What did you do with the money you finger fucked from me?" He went straight to the important question.
"I—"
"Don't make any excuses."
"Bu—"
Darling went off, and the boy screamed out in horror.
When he opened his eyes again, he was shocked to see he was still breathing.
Alejandro burst into a feat of laughter.
"That's one moist pussy if I've ever seen one," Vlad cracked up.
The gun returned to his penis. "What did you do with the money you stole from me?" Ares asked, all traces of light gone from his body..
It was like he had transformed into the devil. The boy began to shiver uncontrollably. This had to be the reason he was called Lucifer. Because he was capable of putting the fear of the unknown into you.
"My grandma. She needed some money for her—-"
The gun went off, and this time, on his legs.
He hissed in pain, as blood gushed out of the wound.
"I send your grandma money weekly. You shouldn't have betrayed me, Lucky," he said, rising to his feet.
"What do we do with him boss," Vlad called after him.
He paused at the door, almost sorry he had to give the order.
"Let him bleed to death. Right after he tells you what he did with my money."
"No please, boss," Lucky cried. "Please help me!"
Ignoring the plea of the boy he had raised like a little brother, he continued out of the room, determined to find out who the mole was, making deals with his workers to steal from him.
