Chapter 1: Reincarnation and The Offer
It was a quiet evening as I walked down a deserted neighborhood street, heading home after a long day at work. My mind wandered as I pulled out my phone, opening Google to read a random novel I'd stumbled upon during one of my aimless internet searches. The silence around me felt peaceful at first, but then a strange noise snapped me out of my thoughts. It sounded like tires screeching—sharp and out of place in such a still environment.
I stopped, my head turning in all directions, trying to find the source of the noise. The eerie silence returned, and it hit me just how unnaturally quiet the neighborhood was. Too quiet.
"With how quiet it is, I'm starting to feel like I'm the only person here," I muttered to myself, my voice barely above a whisper.
"You're not wrong about that," came an unexpected response, a metallic voice from behind me.
My heart raced as I spun around to see what—or who—was speaking. Standing there, defying all logic, was a truck. But not an ordinary truck. This one was standing on two feet, towering over me with a menacing presence. Before I could even register what I was seeing, its massive fist came hurtling toward my head.
"What the fu—"
*BOOM!*
---
When I opened my eyes, I was still in shock. My head throbbed, but the pain paled in comparison to the confusion flooding my mind. Where was I? What had just happened? As I blinked the haze away, I realized I was lying in some kind of void, the surroundings glowing with an otherworldly golden light.
"So, you're finally awake," said a calm voice.
I sat up and looked at the source of the voice, my eyes widening as I saw a man made entirely of shimmering golden light standing before me. His form was humanoid, but his radiant glow made him look otherworldly, almost godlike.
"Who... who are you?" I stammered, still trying to comprehend everything.
"I go by many names," the figure said with a smile, "but you can call me ROB."
My brain struggled to process the situation. I had just been walking down a sidewalk, minding my own business after work, when I was suddenly punched by a truck... that was walking on two feet. And now I was talking to some glowing figure calling himself "ROB." It was too much. The panic set in, my mind spiraling as I tried to make sense of it all.
Then, all of a sudden, I felt calm. Unnaturally calm. It was as if someone had flipped a switch, and all the panic that had gripped me vanished in an instant. I looked up at ROB.
"What did you do to me?" I asked, my voice steady despite the strangeness of the situation.
"I just helped you calm down a bit," ROB replied with a grin. "We can't have a conversation if you go bonkers now, can we?"
He chuckled softly, his glowing form shimmering as he spoke. "So, you're probably wondering why you're here, huh?"
I nodded slowly, still trying to wrap my head around what was happening.
"Well," he continued, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, "me and Truck-kun kinda made a mistake. You weren't supposed to die yet."
"Wait... what?" I asked, blinking in disbelief.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. It's not great. Truck-kun was supposed to hit someone else, but things went a little... off course." ROB cleared his throat awkwardly. "To make it up to you—and because, well, I'm a bit bored—I've decided to give you an offer. I can reincarnate you into a fantasy world. You know, with some cheats to make things a bit more fun. What do you think?"
He gave me a thumbs-up, as if offering me a good deal.
I blinked, my mind still spinning. "Can I have a minute to process this?" I asked, my voice shaking a little. "I mean... I just died. By Truck-kun, apparently. And now I'm talking to a... god, I guess? And you're offering to reincarnate me into a fantasy world? With cheats?"
ROB smiled patiently, as if he'd done this countless times before. "Take your time. Dying's a lot to deal with, after all. How are you feeling about it so far?"
I hesitated. How was I feeling? Numb, confused, maybe a bit overwhelmed. I wasn't sure what to say.
---
I stood there for what felt like five minutes, trying to process everything. Reincarnation? Cheats? Meeting anime and manga characters? It was a lot to take in. I wasn't sure if I should accept the offer just yet, so I decided to ask some questions before making my decision.
I looked up at ROB, who was still glowing and smiling casually. "Can I ask a few questions before I decide?"
"Sure, go ahead," he said, his grin widening, clearly enjoying the situation.
"First off... does the Dragon Ball universe exist? I mean, do all the anime, manga, manhwa, comics, and stuff like that exist in these worlds you're talking about?" I asked, curiosity starting to take over.
"All of them exist," he answered confidently.
My eyes lit up. The idea of possibly meeting some of my favorite characters was thrilling—Goku, Naruto, Luffy... they were all real somewhere out there. But before I got too carried away with excitement, I focused back on the conversation.
"And when you say cheats, what exactly are we talking about?" I asked, trying to keep my head level.
"Well," ROB began with a smirk, "you'll get one wish, three spins on the ability wheel, and a starter pack to kick off your new life."
I blinked. "Why so many?" I asked, genuinely curious.
ROB chuckled and rubbed the back of his head. "Because I wanted to, plus... you're the first human I get to reincarnate. Gotta make it special, right?"
"Wait, what?" I stared at him, surprised. "You're telling me I'm the first mortal you're going to reincarnate? I thought you would have done this with, like, hundreds of people by now."
He laughed a bit awkwardly. "Nope, you're my first. Thought I'd start off with someone interesting."
I was still a bit shocked by the revelation but decided to move on. "Okay... so, do I get any more questions?" ROB asked, his golden eyes twinkling with amusement.
"Actually, yeah, I've got one more," I said, my tone becoming a bit more serious. "You're doing this because you're bored, right? So, what happens if you get bored with me? Are you just going to kill me off?"
ROB's glowing form stiffened as he tried to hold back a laugh. His lips twitched as he fought it, but it was no use. He burst out laughing, doubling over. "Why... pfft... why would I... pfft... HAHAHAHA, why would I do that?!"
I stood there awkwardly as he laughed uncontrollably, clearly finding my question hilarious.
When he finally calmed down, he wiped a tear from his eye. "Nah, I wouldn't do that. I mean, you're pretty entertaining right now. If I ever get bored with you, I'll just stop watching you and find something else to entertain me. But don't worry, I won't kill you off for that."
His tone was light and playful, but oddly, I felt reassured. It was good to know I wasn't just some pawn he could throw away on a whim.
"So, are you going to accept the offer?" he asked, grinning.
I matched his grin. "Sure."
ROB snapped his fingers, and three massive, glowing wheels appeared in the void, each spinning with an array of abilities that ranged from godlike powers to outright ridiculous—and in some cases, downright disturbing—skills. My eyes scanned the options whirling by: The Almighty, Shadow Monarch, Antithesis... and wait—what?! Impregnate your enemies? Male or female?! I shuddered involuntarily, silently pleading to avoid anything in that bizarre category.
The wheels spun faster, the vibrant colors blurring into streaks of light. My heart pounded in my chest as I watched, hoping for something useful—something that would give me a fighting chance in this new world. Slowly, the wheels began to lose speed, their selections becoming more distinct. I held my breath.
The first ability stopped.
[Composed]
The second came to a halt moments later.
[Regeneration]
And finally, the third.
[Sage]
I let out a sigh of relief. They weren't overpowered, but they were solid. Smart, reliable abilities that could keep me alive and give me an edge.
---
[Composed]: This ability grants the user an unshakable calm, making it nearly impossible to be overwhelmed, no matter the situation. Mental clarity is always retained, even under extreme stress or life-threatening danger, ensuring quick and logical decision-making in the heat of battle or when faced with complex challenges.
[Regeneration]: A passive healing ability that accelerates recovery from wounds. Minor injuries like cuts and bruises heal in minutes, while more serious wounds mend within hours or days, depending on severity. While it doesn't offer instant healing, it ensures the user can endure longer fights and recover quickly between battles.
[Sage]: A powerful cognitive ability that enhances the user's perception and processing speed. It allows for accelerated thought, faster comprehension of new skills, and a greater understanding of complex systems. It is the precursor to the more advanced *Great Sage* ability, providing a solid foundation for future growth in mental and magical prowess.
(A/N: I actually used a wheel spin to Decide on what the mc will get)
---
I couldn't help but smile. These abilities might not make me a god, but they'd give me a serious edge in any world I ended up in. With *Composed*, I wouldn't lose my head in a fight. With *Regeneration*, I could take hits and keep going. And *Sage*? That would make learning and adapting a breeze.
ROB clapped his hands, grinning widely. "Well, well! You got yourself some pretty solid abilities there. Now, let's move on to your wish."
I had already thought this part through. There were endless possibilities, but I needed something that would give me flexibility and control.
"I want a customizable system," I said with a grin.
(A/N:give me some ideas on what minor function the system will have)
