"Hahahahaha~, I finally finished it after all these years!"
There stood Kyle, a scruffy looking boy in front of his computer, shouting for joy.The reason? He had finally, after many years, finished the game he had created all by himself.
It all started when he was ten years old and he suddenly got the idea as well as what the game would be about.
There were no reasons, no signs, no inspiration; he just felt he had to do it. But there was a problem: he had no idea how to make a game.
So he spent the next few years studying and learning on his own, in his spare time. Little by little, he was creating the game of his imagination.
He didn't know why, but he felt an unknown need to create it, the rules and other things came easily to him and slowly he was giving shape to this sudden thought.
Now he was an unemployed fresh out of some random college, unsuccessful in getting a decent job.
In fact, he started this game as a hobby and it took many years, but lately he was desperate to make money.
He believed that the game would be his path to success. At least those years were not wasted; he had fully tested it and was sure it would be a success.
He just had to find a way to make it famous and, from there, the money would rain down on him. Well, that would be best, but as long as he made it self-sustaining, he would be happy.
"this deserves a celebration!"
He went to his closet and, from a box, pulled out the little money he had saved. He was going to buy himself some drinks and snacks to celebrate his big success.
And well, he would be celebrating alone, since he had no friends or family. Thinking this, he became depressed for a moment.
"No, that's water under the bridge now."
Yes, there was no use thinking about it. At this point, I had already overcome those things. . He immediately went back to thinking positive and imagined himself successful and surrounded by people..
Yes, they might come for his money, but he never expected genuine friendship from anyone to begin with. He had long since lost those kinds of desires.
..
.
"Welcome."
He entered the mini-store, nodding at the cashier's greeting, and began to choose.
"Humm, what to buy?hum,... No, since it's a celebration, I can go crazy."
After all, it was a celebration, so he chose a little bit of everything. He went to the beverage area, bought his favorite energy drinks and alcohol.
He was definitely going to celebrate in a big way; he was going to go out on a limb and even combine alcohol with the energy drinks. He was going to be out of control today!
As he stood in line, behind a lady with a child who kept crying and whining about wanting candy, Kyle's good mood was starting to wane. So he glanced at the TV screen, which was apparently talking about an interesting topic.
{"Good evening, and welcome to our special edition. Today, an alarming report has emerged from the Planetary Science Institute. The Earth's rotation is slowing down more rapidly, a phenomenon that could have serious consequences for our planet and its inhabitants. To better understand this situation, we are joined by Dr. Samuel A. Thornton. Dr. Thornton, what's going on?".
"Thank you for having me. The slowing of the Earth's rotation is a phenomenon that we have been monitoring. It may be caused by human intervention, tectonic and climatic changes. This could lead to longer days, altering our biological cycles and causing extreme weather patterns that we are already seeing in various regions."
"What should we do to prepare?"
"It is crucial to increase research on this phenomenon, implement conservation policies and adapt our infrastructure. Global collaboration is vital to mitigate these negative effects and protect our future." }
Kyle was a bit out of touch with the world lately, but even he had heard about this. However, he honestly believed it was someone else's problem.
Where he lived was an area that, other than sudden rainfall, nothing else was happening. They said that in a few decades we would regain normal acceleration, so the governments were already ready, with bunkers and other security measures for worst-case scenarios, so I wasn't too worried.
"What's the worst that can happen?"
he thought simply. He paid, and as he was leaving the store, it suddenly started to rain heavily.
If he thought this was karma because of the thought he just had, now it was affecting him too., he would have to get wet to get to his apartment.
Either that or buy an umbrella, but the latter was discarded because it had run out of money.
Since it didn't look like the rain would stop any time soon, he decided to take a chance and run. As much as he hated getting wet, there was nothing he could do about it. It was just as he was about to leave when....
"Kyaaa!"
Suddenly, Kyle heard a girl's scream. Instinctively, he moved to the side, thinking it might be a robbery targeting the cashier or something similar. He didn't want to get caught up in the situation.
But when he looked back, he realized they were the only two people in the store. Confused, he followed the woman's gaze, trying to figure out what had caused her sudden scream. Kyle's eyes landed on the television.
{"Attention, breaking news: multiple earthquakes and tsunamis have been detected around the world. Yes, as you heard, suddenly and without any warning, the world suffered multiple earthquakes." }
When Kyle heard that, he was a bit at a loss for words. In fact, not long after, he started to feel the ground shaking. He didn't know what was happening all of a sudden; he wanted to get to safety, but the television kept saying even worse things.
{"It has been detected that the seas have begun to move in an illogical way. Scientists studying the phenomenon in real time say that such a thing should not be physically possible at this time. Many coastal countries around the world have already started to flood and the losses are assumed to be more than 1% of the world's population, and it doesn't stop." }
The television screen flickered with live footage from across the world, showing catastrophic floods sweeping through cities.
In one clip, a news reporter stood waist-deep in water, narrating the chaos when suddenly, a colossal wall of water like nothing seen before rushed toward the shore. It wasn't just a typical tsunami; this was a towering, impossibly high wave that loomed over buildings and trees like a shadow of doom.
People, caught off guard, screamed and ran, their live streams capturing their final moments. The camera shook violently as the water crashed down, swallowing everything in its path in one unstoppable surge.
Kyle could no longer blame the woman for screaming—}what he was witnessing was the end of entire landscapes in real-time, an unprecedented tragedy that felt like watching the apocalypse unfold right before his eyes.
"Wait, wait, what's going on, what's happening?"
Kyle's mind couldn't understand the sudden change of events. A moment ago, they were just talking about the Earth slowing down, but suddenly, they were talking as if an apocalypse was happening from one moment to the next.
Now, despite the rain, he was looking out over the suburbs. He lived relatively high above sea level and far from the coasts, so it was difficult for the place to flood even in a major tsunami.
But in the distance, on the horizon, he could see what looked like a large body of water heading towards where he was. That body of water was still so far away that it barely looked like a streak of blue, but everything told him that, unless he got a plane, he would never escape at this point.
Aquí te dejo la corrección en tercera persona:
"So this is the end, huh? Well, to hell with it all.... Fucking shitty world, just when he was about to be successful."
Kyle couldn't help but curse. It seemed like the world hated him. Just when he thought things might finally turn around, that he could actually change his life, suddenly, the world was suffering an apocalypse.
"Haa~... whatever,"
he sighed. It was pointless to keep cursing, and there was nothing he could do now. He was going to die, and the bitter thought crossed his mind: He never even lost his virginity.
It didn't fit the situation, but somehow, that fact just pissed him off even more. Just when he could've finally had money, maybe, just maybe, done something worthwhile with his life… well, in the end, none of that mattered now. He was going to die like this.
He didn't believe in anything, so he didn't pray to anyone. He knew that when people are in danger, they hypocritically pray to see if they have a chance, only when death is in sight.
But he didn't care; he just watched and accepted the inevitable. He was good at accepting things. A normal person would panic, but he just didn't see the point. There was nothing he could do to avoid the colossal flood that was coming.
It's not like he wanted to die, but it was realistic. So, as the last thing he did, he went to the store's fridge and looked for the most expensive and delicious drink he couldn't buy earlier because he didn't have enough money.
He looked for a place to sit and drank while he ate his favorite snack, which was also one of the most expensive items in the store.
was a luxury that thetried it a few years ago in a fit of madness and spent a lot of the savings he had at the time, barely living on it for the next few months.
Kyle could hear the sounds of panic and disaster outside, but at least he ate like a king before he died.
He just wondered if there really would be a hell or a heaven when he died. He didn't think he had done anything bad enough in his years of life, but perhaps the minimum requirement was to believe in such a religion.
As to which was the correct one among the many, well, he didn't know. It only remained to see and find out. Maybe he would just be reincarnated as a sea amoeba or something now that the world was being flooded. A quiet, stress-free life, nothing better.
His thoughts simply wandered as he savored it all. He could hear the girl in the pantry crying and calling for her mother and father.
'Yeah, that's what a normal person would do,' he thought. That was his last thought before he felt a huge shock and everything spun around.
shis only regret in his head right now was , not being able to comfortably finish his premium snack, but just closed his eyes and let himself go. He just hoped he wasn't in too much pain.
