Chapter 13 - Chapter Thirteen

Determined to make amends, Marcus tracked Lisa down at her office, where she was busy reviewing sketches on her busy schedule. When he entered, she looked up, her expression changed.

Marcus takes a deep breath before uttering

"Lisa, I…I was wrong. I let my jealousy and my pride cloud my judgment. I should've trusted you."

Lisa studied him, her gaze steady.

"It's easy to apologize now that the truth is out. But when it mattered, what did you do?" Lisa calmly smirked

"I know. I've been so wrapped up in control and power that I couldn't see what was right in front of me. Please…let me make it up to you." Marcus with genuine voice, thick with emotions, uttered.

For a moment, there was only silence.

Lisa after a long pause, with a hint of softness

"It's going to take more than an apology, Marcus."

Marcus nodding, desperate "I will do whatever it takes."

Lisa held his gaze, the pain and anger in her heart slowly giving way to something else—hope. The walls between them had been shattered, and for the first time, Marcus had shown true vulnerability.

"Then start by proving that you're willing to change." Lisa sighing, giving him a small nod

In the weeks that followed, Marcus genuinely sought to rebuild Lisa's trust, determined to prove that his feelings ran deeper than his ego. He set aside his controlling tendencies, opting instead to support her from the sidelines, letting her shine in her own right. At her events, he was merely a silent partner, there to offer strength, not dominance.

One evening, Lisa's fashion line was being showcased at an upscale event, and Marcus was among the audience, quietly admiring her. Lisa, dressed in a sleek gown of her own design, radiated confidence as she spoke to reporters. Her talent and ambition captivated everyone in the room, Marcus included. Once the event had ended, he approached her, hesitant but resolute.

"Lisa," he said softly, "I know I've made a mess of things before, but I'm not here to interfere. I'm here for you – to see you, to support you, without demanding anything in return." Marcus coldly intoned. With soft eyes

She looked up at him, her gaze cautious but softened by the vulnerability in his eyes.

"Marcus, I just need to know that you believe in me, not as someone you can control, but as someone who stands beside you, not beneath you." Lisa mumbling in a low tone.

He took a deep breath, says"I know, Lisa. And I understand now. I used to think that, to get what i want, was about claiming and possessing, but you've shown me that it's about letting go, about supporting you in a way that doesn't demand anything. You've earned everything of what you have, and I see that now."

Lisa's gaze lingered on him for a moment, a flicker of something softening in her eyes. But she was still wary, still hurt from the past.

"If you're serious about changing, Marcus, you'll have to prove it. I'm not looking for grand gestures, just consistency." She grins with a fading smile.

His voice was low but firm. "I'm ready to show you, Lisa. And if it means taking a step back so you can take your steps forward, I'll do it."

One quiet evening in her office, Marcus surprised Lisa with a small gesture—a framed sketch of her first fashion design, something he'd gone to great lengths to find. As he handed it to her, his voice was softer, filled with genuine admiration.

Marcus smiling gently "This…is how I see you. Strong. Resilient. Unstoppable.

Lisa felt her heart stir as she looked at the sketch, touched by his thoughtfulness.

Lisa smiling back, her voice soft "You're learning, Marcus. Slowly, but surely.

As Marcus stood staring in adoration of every smile of hers, Her beautiful eyes and her charisma. the air was filled with an unspoken promise. Marcus's presence was quieter, more thoughtful. He was beginning to understand that true love wasn't about dominance, but partnership – and he was willing to change for it.

And for the first time, Lisa allowed herself to imagine a future where they were not just lovers but equals, bound not by power, but by trust.
