Cedric looked at the fear swirling in Odeta's widened eyes and how stiff she had become, and his heart shook. Even if he didn't want to accept it, he just knew it. 'She might hate him forever if he kissed her,' he realized. The emotions on her face a moment ago only proved his theory. She was still in love with James. Even if he saw her first, knew her first, and loved her first in his own twisted kind of way, she never saw him.
He backed away from Odelia, just as she also turned her head to the side to avoid his kiss.
"I'm sorry," Cedric said defeatedly. Odeta was surprised to hear him apologize. This was the first time she had heard him say the word; even when he had made them punish her, he never apologized. She ignored him and pushed him away. He allowed her to push him; she nearly had a heart attack from the stunt he just pulled. She could still feel the cold sweat that was trickling down her back.
