"James," she called out weakly, feigning a look of relief, before adding demurely,
"I came to politely explain everything to her and make her understand, but she became hostile. Look, she even slapped me," she said, tears falling from her eyes as she pointed at her cheeks. She was sure there were marks by now since the tiny woman seemed to have struck her with the strength of ten men.
All the while, she tried to look as elegant as possible, even though she was crying, showing her most pitiful and delicate side.
Don Gardner walked towards Roxanne and helped her off the floor and aided her to stand on her feet.
"Are you hurt?" he asked, his voice with a hint of anger in it.
"Fortunately, I'm not hurt; you came just in time to prevent any further damage," she said with an aggrieved look on her face.
